Emerald hack: Super Mariomon

For some reason once I passed World 7, any time I attempt to use ANY TM this happens and then the game crashes with the above error. Sorry if this has been reported already. Enjoying the game a great deal so far.

First of all, incredible job with this. The amount of polish on this romhack is staggering.

However, I am running into a very annoying bug on Nuzlocke mode, where if a Capture dies in battle, the held items on my team get jumbled up and I lose access to some held items permanently. I believe this occurs due to the way the fainted Capture is automatically sent into the box - it appears like this causes all the items to get shuffled down one slot.

For example, I had a Snoozorb with an Air Balloon that died after a Volt Switch failed to pivot him out (another bug I occasionally run into, although I don't understand the cause yet). After the battle, the Snoozorb was sent to PC with its Air Balloon, but my Porcupuffer in the slot after it had its Black Sludge replaced with another Air Balloon. The Porcupuffer's Black Sludge got shuffled into the slot after it and so on, until the item on the Capture in my last slot was lost permanently.
 
hello I was just curious if there are any shiny hack codes that work with this rom cause I want to see the shiny variants but because of my job I don't really have the time available to hunt for them and I don't just want to look at a picture of them ether.
 
I've been playing through the game for the past few days and have been loving it. However I've just run into a problem after doing a run in the New Donk City Pit.
It turns out when you get your party of captures temporarily stowed away for the challenge, after they are returned to you, they don't get their held items back. I've just lost a few items because of this, including Covert Cloak and Rocky Helmet.
That is addressable in a later patch so that it won't happen again I'm sure, but for my current playthrough, is there a debug mode I can access to give those items back, or are all held items available somewhere else in the game? It'd be a bummer to lose those items from a bug.

Wow that sounds like quite the miserable bug to run into. Thanks for the heads up! I'll test this later myself.
 
Absolute insane and rude thing to say. I'm sorry we don't have time to respond to every single thing that happens, I kind of have been trying to take a break from the game I just spent 3 years developing.

All of us who made the game love it and love seeing everyone play it, and I've been watching the threads, etc taking note of bugs and what not. There's just a lot to keep track of. It's become very difficult to keep up with everything given the scale of everything

And I'm not usually one for defending the rich youtubers and what not, but alpharad has been doing more for the game behind the scenes and will have another video out soon.

We all love our game so much, so to see it reduced to this just really sucks. We spent years of lives developing this, so just keep that in mind before you put us down like that.

For everyone else, I hope you've been enjoying our game! Like I said, I've been taking notes of bugs and I'm sorry I can't be responding to everything. Expect another major patch by the end of the month!

I have downloaded and patched v1.3, but it gets stuck in a blackscreen right after the initial screen (screenshot attached). Do you know how to resolve this?

Hey everyone;
Love the romhack - can 100% see the dedication and love put into this. Amazing work - have had a lot of fun over the past week playing it.
I've run into a little issue though - even though I've updated to 1.3.
After becoming champion, gone back to 1-1, I'm unable to capture anything? Caps keep saying they can not be used at this time? Hopefully I haven't missed anything on prior posts, apologies if I have.

There is a bug in the TMs that prevents them from being used, this happens when you get around 43 different TMs. But my question is: when will you fix this problem? Because it seriously affects the playability of this wonderful game

Edit: Apparently it is fixed by getting more TM

I have a considerably less important bug to report, but one that bothers me as someone who likes organizing things.

I decided to use the in-game move list every capture gets in the dex to try and document all the TM and move tutor usages, because that hasn't actually been documented anywhere outside the game yet, and I very quickly noticed that there was something strange going on. There are quite a few TMs that are listed with multiple numbers across multiple dex entries, for example, Fake Tears is listed as TM 48, 52, 53, and 60 across the 23 captures I recorded it on. This extends into stranger things, like some TM moves being listed as tutor move, and some moves, TM or tutor, being labeled as HMs. The TMs are also usually never listed in the correct numerical order but that's just nitpicking.

I have a vague idea of why this could be happening, since I've poked around in the Emerald decomp a bit. I think that how the moves are listed for each capture in the code are causing these errors to happen. I can tell that at some early point when TM moves were being decided on, someone copypasted Return, Snore, Protect, Rest, and Frustration (not in that order) into every entry, since those are the TMs that every capture learns, and evolutions seem to often just have new TMs added on to the end, regardless of numbering. This by itself isn't a problem at all, but I think a few decisions like this across the entire dex is probably the source of the weirdness.

Considering how TMs in this game seem to be suffering some issues in general (some much worse than this specific complaint, mind you), this could be part of the reason for those bugs, if I were to guess? Conflicting information that the game eventually can't fully process, which leads to errors? I don't know how it all works, honestly, I'm just giving a potential lead in the problem.
 
Also a pretty minor bug, and not sure if there's a known issue anywhere yet or something specific that would be causing this, but it doesn't seem like Persim Berry works to clear confusion when used as an item from the Bag? After the "You used Persim Berry!" message, this is always the follow-up:

I know that the Old rod is in Peach's Castle and the Super Rod is in New Donk City but I can't for the life of me find the Good rod, can someone help?

I really do like this hack but man, you can really feel the 151 restriction working against it at times, Not to mention how there's a fair amount of games not really represented here. (also i'm sorry, but did we REALLY need a bunch of yoshi colors as separate mons?)

Aside from that, there's a lot of mons that i feel like still has room for evolution, but due to the restriction just... don't. For example:

There's probably more that could be mentioned that i just either didn't or can't think of at the moment, i know i've seen some comments about a lack of the psychic type, which there's definitely options out there that could've probably helped with that, like Magiblots and Cursyas from Super Paper Mario, also probably some enemies from Mario RPG.

I know the hack is considered finished, and at this point, there will probably be no more new mon additions, I applaud the hard work and especially the spritework, but man, 151 strictly just is not a good number for an idea like this. and sorry for the Mini-rant.
 
For anyone feeling left out on a particular Mario enemy not being in the Dex, then please do check out Fury Red.


While it's more-or-less literally Fire Red with Mario enemies in it, it also has a good variety to choose from as well as mostly balanced stats and movepools.

Both Super Mariomon and Fury Red are great, and the differences between them make for a fun back-to-back playthrough. So definitely give it a try!

There's actually a good handful of creatures in Fury Red that are not in Super Mariomon, and vice-versa. About half of which Kralus mentioned, even!

Anyways, since I don't think I properly mentioned it here, thanks for the fun hack! I really appreciate what you've done, Too Many Productions Team & Alpharad!

Really flimsy excuses there. You should know that release is the most important time to be involved and paying attention too feedback. Its the worst time to take a "break"
plus you guys actively ban people in the discord without warning if they ask for help.

You got proof on that? Like, screenshots or something? Sorry if I don't immediately believe you, but your responses make you sound like a nasty, irrational person so I'm not entirely convinced that the situation you're describing happened the way you're presenting it.
