What happens to fainted Pokémon?

I think they faint as in FAINT, not die. They faint therefore they are unable to fight. The Pokécenter just heals them. If they mean dying by fainting, then your Pokémon would be dead, and I don't think the Pokécenter brings them back to life magically.

In the anime series, you see that Pokémon are just very beat up or knocked out when they are 'fainted'.

I always thought it worked the same way as when a human faints.

You lay there knocked out for a little while and then you eventually wake up and most likely make a full recovery.

It's a boring theory, but a theory nonetheless.

When you faint, you faint! Fainting doesn't mean dead... If you were beaten up or somthing you would eventually faint/get knocked out! You wouldn't die! In the pokemon world your pokemon would probably die if they didn't get to the pokemon centre in time like in Green/Blues case, his Raticate died because he couldn't get to a pokemon center on the ssanne and it died!

For your question on wild pokemon - once youve beaten them they would faint but they would just wake up again if they didn't have too sevear damages...

@Assault Oh give me a break! What are you..., five?!

What are you, stupid?
You know very well that if I was five I probably wouldn't be registered to this forum.

They wake up and heal naturally later. If Pokemon were reliant on Pokemon Centers to recover from injuries they wouldn't still be around.

I'm assuming if Pokémon were real they'd live in groups, unless it's like Cubone or something. =| If they were knocked out they could get found by a member of their group and taken back to a nest or wherever they stay. I doubt they'd die though. But I don't know, Nintendo probably won't reveal it.

That is, if they ever actually thought it over. There are more things like this that don't really make sense, for example, the Pokémon are the animals in that world. So, when they eat (you see Ash eating steak and stuff at his mom's house) do they eat Pokémon? Do they eat Taurus or something? And then in the first few episodes, you see actual birds flying over when Ash looks up from the forest. They weren't Pidgeys, they were black and thin, and if they were Pidgeys they would have drawn them as Pidgeys, not as black birds.

I just don't think that they ever thought these things over, as well as the fainting.

Another thing that doesn't make sense. If Vaporeon dissolves into water, how do you surf on it? I think when a fainted pokemon sits there long enough, it can eventually revive itself.
"Fainting" doesn't really mean they actually faint, they just can't battle anymore. That's why they can still use HM moves.

Never really used a pokemon that knew a hm when it was fainted,So i never knew u could do that while fainted but when someone faints in real life the do not die...on most cases at least. So i don't know were people are getting of when a pokemon faints they die,They are jsut unable to battle anymore.

Like in the anime when ash send pikachu out to battle he doesn't faint,Pikachu just gets swirls in its eyes and after a few minutes it is better.

I think its like saying if i went and fought someone(I am very lazy)And was fighting for like 5 minutes running at him punching and crap i would be tierd, and after a few minutes of rest i be fine.

That's what i think fainting is.
