Oh, and I've gotten back in business with my anime folder icons. And this time the Darker Than Black One isn't batman in front of the Chinese flag and lightning bolts, regrettably.

EDIT: Cool, I killed the thread. I even managed to make more in the meantime.
Part of me wants to do that, but I pretty much always browse my files in List view so I wouldn't much be able to appreciate it.

But yours look nice Total I have almost 400 gigs of Inazuma Eleven and Dragon Ball Z, so I suppose I might consider doing some Photoshop magic for them. Just wish I had larger drives...or even external ones. /sigh

By the way , How popular is Inazuma eleven ?
I use to believe Inazuma eleven to be massively popular due to reaction of all my neighborhood Kids.
But , I never seen this anime in Top 10 TV rating.
However , I didn't like Inazuma Eleven Go ! It was too dark & serious .

Inazuma Eleven was really popular at a time. I'd say it was at the height of its popularity at probably the third season, maybe later second season, especially considering that was the only time they ever released both a third version and a movie. After the third game, or some way into GO, it's popularity started to fall and never really rose back again.

But with GO I was actually the opposite. With all of the GO series, actually. Loved the way they started, (new concept with lots of potential) didn't much love the way they progressed. But either way none of them were as good as the original IE- though Galaxy came close since its first 18 episodes were fantastic.

I'm not with the bunch that gets ticked when ever people mention McRoll.

To me, it shows just how powerful and penetrating (read: viral and indoctrinating) the Touhou culture really is.

It's always a pleasure to someone that Bad Apple, U.N. Owen, various LoL items, "Footage is preparing. Please wait warmly!", etc. are actually from Touhou, and basically add another to the fandom.

That's a good way to be.

I'm that way too, though it's more that it can bring misunderstanding rather than joy when someone finds out that something's from Touhou. Because they don't believe it's from Touhou. The Death Waltz is a good example of this- in that the Death Waltz is an impossible piece of music and the real song's just a remix of a remix.

But on the other hand, it is pretty great. I love me some Touhou references, and there's something backhandedly enjoyable, for me as a fan, when someone who's so separated or even distainful from pretty much anything Japanese ends up unknowingly enjoying a Touhou work without knowing what it is. Such as the Death Waltz- it's actually pretty shocking how for U.N. Owen as stretched due to miraculous circumstances. And Japanese Ronald McDonald, for that matter.

Touhou's cool.

My stepbrother recently got into anime (i.e. I got him into it). He really liked Steins;Gate, said meh to Zankyou no Terror, and seems to be enjoying Guilty Crown.

He likes action, good stories, plot twists without plotholes, memes, and high quality humor. He's probably wouldn't be able to stand an SoL, love story, moe, or a generic Idol or ecchi harem cheap fanservice anime. He also requires things that are "easy on the eyes."

So out of the good ones, that probably rules out Clannad, PMMM, and maybe Angel Beats.

Suggestions?

So um...

Danchigai...

Generally when you're a Comedy, you make jokes or try to elicit some type of laugh or even a chuckle. And generally when you want to be an Oreimo clone, you make up your fucking mind on whether you want to be an Oreimo clone. And generally, when you make a show, regardless of length, the characters have shades of personality.

I mean, this show isn't bad. Really. But it's not good, either. It's the most mediocre of the mediocre. And normally I don't watch shows I don't enjoy, but...this show's three minutes and I'm waiting for the day that the show helps me make up my mind on whether it goes either way. Whether I'll like it or not. The show doesn't know what it is, I don't know what it is, and

*COUGH*

Dunno about me. I'd go mad.

He'd probably love Gintama based on that since it fits into several of those quite nicely. That said, Gintama's also very long so I couldn't much recommend it to him unless he's okay with that much. It's fantastic and absolutely hilarious.

Other than that, Fullmetal Alchemist/Brotherhood's a given. I'd be surprised if he didn't absolutely love that. It's humor isn't over the top or even often, but when it does happen it's a treat (especially in Brotherhood). Neither is really short but they aren't long either, and they certainly fit what he supposedly like. I don't think anyone would agree with these (or Brotherhood, at the very least).

Gurren Lagann and Kill la Kill specifically are pretty good examples of shows that scratch those itches but are also popular with people who aren't really too into anime, and another show that isn't much like this but is definitely the latter is Cowboy Bebop. I'm mostly picking more mainstream shows for gateway reasons, since I'll assume he hasn't seen too much. The GurrLag movies are also a good substitute if you want to give him a quick experience. It's good for him, especially, in the case that he doesn't want to commit to a questionable series (and the movies are my personal preference and badass as hell, so there's that).

Baccano and Durarara! The former is an excellent gateway anime and demands to be seen in English. It's plot heavy, but it's funny when it's funny, the action's good when it's good- it's a fantastic show that I at least hope he enjoys. And Durarara! is Durarara!. Crazy and sporadic adventures in Ikebukuro where, like Baccano, has an emphasis on character. The mood's whatever it wants to be and twists about. All of these shows look nice, even the 1999 Bebop, so there's no worry there.

And, lastly, Magi. Magi's a really fun adventure anime twist on Arabian Nights. If your stepbrother's a fan of RPGs, Dragon Ball, or a good adventure story that can carry a pretty widthy plot, fun characters, and some great action, I'd recommend this one as well. It's not as gateway, but I'm sure he'd love it.

Assuming he was not anywhere near the end stages of Guilty Crown at the point at which he gave you that impression, he sounds like a man of bretty gud taste.

FMA/B is a given. Macho's got some good ones overall, and it sounds like pretty much anything touched by Urobutcher, Ufotable, or Hiroyuki Sawano might be worth a try with him.
I'd see what he thinks about Code Geass. And if you want him to go full mainstream, you can't not shove titans down his throat.

Oh, and don't instantly exclude a good love story. Can't bash what you haven't tried. Although you wouldn't want to give him ideas.

Yeah, he just finished Guilty Crown. I think watching it taught him how to enjoy a show for how bad it is. I watched the last episode with him, and noticed that they screwed up the last scene really bad. The cake said "Happy Birthday Hare" but they said "Cheers to this year!" Holy muk.

I recommended CG to him, but it looked like he didn't react well to the art.

I totally forgot about SnK. Wow.

He's willing to watch Danshi Koukousei.

I mentioned how FMAB is rated #1 on MAL, and he was a bit curious, but 64 episodes was too long for him. He's working as a law clerk.

I'd have suggested Gintama if he didn't have so little time.

HMS also might work. I loved how little sex humor they put into it, it was one of my favorites for sure.

I'll give suggesting Magi a shot too.

Thanks y'all.
