Bug Pokemon, for a while now, are seen as inferior, weak, and a joke to most. Of course we've had Gym Leaders and even Elite Four members specialize in Bug-types. We've also had a Bug-type legendary with Genesect, however, no box legendary that is a Bug-type.

Bug-types are objectively, have unimpressive defenses, one of the worst offensively, and have the lowest base stat total of all types, not counting their mega evolutions if they have one.

    • What are your thoughts on the Bug-type?
    • Favorite Bug-type?
    • If there happened to be a Bug-type legendary, what would you want its design/stats to be?
    • Any new Bug-type moves you'd like to see introduced?

When I was a kid I really didn't like Bug-types. I didn't like bugs in real life so I didn't really see the appeal in Bug-type Pokémon. Now though I can appreciate their designs and what they're based on, but they're probably more towards the 'least favourite types' end of the spectrum.

I think a lot of them are pretty cool and powerful but they grow outclassed as you go into the games. Some of them have great and cool designs (Scyther/Scizor, Heracross, Crustle and Leavanny all come to mind) but mostly they're quite frail (which makes sense given they're bugs...) and become outclassed.

My favourite Bug-type is probably Heracross, based on its design, what it's based on, the fact that it at least used to be good in battle, and I liked Ash's Heracross in the anime as well.

I think it would be interesting for a Bug-type legendary based on mythology to happen. I feel like particular types of mythology had a bigger focus on insects and bugs and it would be interesting to see some of those explored as a Bug-type legendary.

Bug types are, I feel, really underrated. Before, they used to really suck, but there have been some pretty good bug types over the years and even the older ones have gotten a bigger boost whether offensively or defensively, so for me, they're definitely a lot more threatening than they were in the past. With the introduction of Quiver Dance, most bugs that do learn it have gotten SO much better and I'm really happy for that. ^^

Do you think that Bug-types have to rely on some sort of gimmicky set-up moves to be relevant? I think the reason why the more recent, specifically Mega evolution Bug-types are relevant is because they bring everything a team would want. They hit hard and they're pretty fast.
