Do you like the design?
Any thoughts on it? Do you think it's fully evolved/has a previous form, or do you think it is a single stage Pokemon or maybe even the previous form to something else?

Additionally, we haven't seen the Ice type Terra Crown yet. What do you think/expect it will look like?

I do quite like Cetitan's design! It's a very unique looking Pokémon and I really am fond of its colouring as well. I'm also interested to see what shiny Cetitan looks like.

As far as the Terra Crown, I can see it resembling a large, gleaming snowflake!

In terms of the Vanillixe flavours, I'd be delighted to try red velvet, strawberry, vanilla bean, ube, and cotton candy! (:

Yes, I do! It's actually one of my fav shown gen 9 pokemon! I am not super fond of it, but it's one of my fav among the ones shown in the trailers. I like the colors, the fact that it takes inspiration from a whale but it's not a water type. Could actually think to get one in my team.

I think it has a pre-evo and this is its full evolution. Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing another evolution from Cetitan but I don't think it's the case.

Additionally, we haven't seen the Ice type Terra Crown yet. What do you think/expect it will look like?

This question is actually interesting. While I'd say it's pretty much sure that the classical and obvious snowflake is my final answer, I still have some doubts as the Tera symbol itself is really similar to a snowflake. But tbh not using a snowflake for the ice type would only make it more confusing for the players imo.

What a worthy legendary!

It is one of the coolest-looking designs i have ever seen, got staggering speed and very good attacking power and it's signature ability sounds like intimidate but for the opponent's defenses instead.

The Gift of Surprise Event
Year 2 =D

Today marks the start of an event in collaboration with 2 of the other type clubs: Dragon Ascent & The Cosmic Channelers.
You have the whole of December to participate in it and try to get a badge created for this event, or upgrade it if you participated last year as well! =3
The goal of this event is to spread some Pokemon love through Wonder/Surprise trade during the season of giving =D

You do not have to be in any of the three clubs to participate!
You just need to go to one of the 3 participating Type clubs and indicate that you are there for the event when posting your box of mons. You will then be 'Honorary members' of that type club. And who knows, maybe you'll like the club and stick around? =3

For anyone who is in multiple type clubs or no type club at all: you can just pick the type you wish to lend a hand and participate for!
If you have enough time, you can participate with a box of mons for each the other clubs too if you want! (one box max per club)


Rules:
-You can Wonder/Surprise trade ANY legitimate mon for the type club you want to participate for, as long as it has the typing of that type club!
If, for example, you're participating for the Psychic Club, your mons need to have Psychic as one of their types! Only exception is if the mon evolves via trading and you give it the necessary item to evolve, such as for example a Seadra with a Dragon Scale which will become a Kingdra after trading it over and is then elligible for the Dragon club. Seadra without the Dragon Scale would not be eligible for the participating clubs.
Beyond that, the mon choice is completely up to you! Just make sure you're actually okay with trading it away if it's something special like a shiny, legendary or has PokeRus etc.
If you don't have enough mons you can go breed or catch them!


-If you're giving away a legendary or shiny, you can offer these up in a [Giveaway] thread in the Trade Corner.
Just make sure they're the right type and that you actually end up trading them; they won't count until you've actually traded them! If you do this, then when submitting you need to link your [Giveaway] thread in addition to your before/after pics!
If successfully given away you can reduce the amount of mons you need to Surprise/Wonder trade by however many shinies or legendaries you gave away.
If for example you gave away 3 shiny Ice types in your [Giveaway] thread in the Trade Corner, you'd link your thread and then provide before and after pics of 27 Ice types that you surprise/wonder traded away to get the required total of 30 mons traded.
Keep in mind that this is optional and if you prefer to send any legendary or shiny mons off through Surprise/Wonder trade instead, that's perfectly fine too! This is just meant as an alternative for more special mons.

-Make sure you post your submission in the corresponding type club's thread!
-Deadline is midnight on December 31st to January 1st.

To recap:
In the following order:
-Try to gather a box full of mons (30) to trade away for the type of your choice.
-Don't forget to take a screenshot/photo before you send them off!
-Then Wonder/Surprise trade them all and keep what you first receive for your mon! So no endlessly trading till you have a full box of same type mons back.
-Take a screenshot/photo again.
-After completing the Wonder/Suprise Trade, provide a list of how many mons of that Pokemon Type you got back again.
-Don't forget to include the screenshots in your submission!

This is a very interesting challenge. Count me in! Because the month is cold December and getting close to the holidays, I decided to represent the best offensive type in Pokémon, the Ice-type. Psychic and Dragon-type Pokémon could have been easier choices, but Dragon and Psychic already garner enough attention to begin with. Ice-type Pokémon are often very overlooked and underrated. Catching the Pokemon needed for this challenge also helped me find a shiny Pokemon too!

Unfortunately, I didn't receive any Ice-type Pokémon in any trade. I guess that proves my point about Ice-type Pokémon being overlooked and underrated.

I sent out a full box of HA Lure Ball Dewgong, which is also a version exclusive. They all had egg moves too.
Had to evolve them from Seel I bred as Seel is pure Water type and not eligible. Ugh, I highly missed the Exp Candies from SwSh xD

Well... at least I got one back while trading for the Ice Club... I also did the Dragon and Psychic clubs and didn't get any Ice types at all there... not that they would've counted anyway.

Steps in for the Gifts of Surprise event. Prepared 30 Ice-types in Ultra Sun.

• 10 Bergmites. Nickname: Burglar. Level 8 with Sturdy (Hidden Ability). Impish nature with maxed EVs in Hitpoints and Defense. Holds a Custap Berry. 4+ perfect IVs. Knows 1 egg move (Mirror Coat), along with Curse, Avalanche, and Rock Slide. Chose it as an fun, high Defense option with a Sturdy + Mirror Coat gimmick for something like Totem Salazzle.
• 1 Bergmite. Seems to be a level 1 version of the above. No nickname either. Shrugs. Only noticed this while trading.
• 1 Alolan Sandshrew. Level 1. 6 perfect IVs. Knows four egg moves (Icicle Crash, Crush Claw, Hone Claws, and Night Slash). Does not have its Hidden Ability like the others. Imagines a breeder liking it. Holds an Ice Stone.
• 13 Alolan Sandslashes. Level 17 in a Heavy Ball. Adamant nature. 4+ perfect IVs and maximum EVs in Attack and Speed. Listed its egg moves above. Comes with Slush Rush, the Hidden Ability. Brings an Occa Berry, in case of seeing use.
• 5 Mamoswines. Level 35, also in a Heavy Ball. Same nature, as well as IV and EV requirements as Alolan Sandslash. Three egg moves (Icicle Spear, Icicle Crash, and Stealth Rock). Gave them Thick Fat, its Hidden Ability. Carries an Enigma Berry.

I traded a box of 30 as my wonderful gifts of surprise. These tyrunts might not look like much, but they have good ivs i.e outstanding potential and each has been infected with poker's, no dragons back alas for Dragon Ascent, unless you count the Charmander I got back, since I did trade on gen 7, so it can mega evolve into mega charizard x. If Charmander counts then that's 1vpoint. No ice Pokémon came to me either, there were 2 slowpokes though, so 2 two psychics. Since we are trading rare typing it's understandable that there won't be that many floating around wonder trade to receive, but at least we put some out there no for others. I had fun, am happy to report that I didn't get any hax sent my way, and someone traded me a lovely feebas with egg moves they had bred in a moon ball. I will keep him.

Gen 9 has been out for a bit now. So...

Did you use any of the new Ice type Pokemon on your team? Did you have any non-Ice type Pokemon with an Ice Tera type on your team?

There are currently no Ice type regional forms. I'm honestly kinda shocked. Alola, Galar and even Hisui all had at least one regional form that was a Ice type!
However, some might yet be introduced via DLC, like they did with the Galarian Slowpoke line. Though that was obviously not an ice type.

Do you think there will be any Ice type regional forms introduced via DLC?


Also time to look back at the predictions for gen 9 :fufu:

I do not foresee an ice-type gym leader in these upcoming games, considering there was one featured in Sword/Shield. I would certainly like to see an Ice type Elite four member, or perhaps even a rival who favours ice-types, that would certainly be unique. Although, when I think of Spain, winter and icy landscapes do not initially come to mind, and Spain's geography/climate may impact the amount of newly introduced ice types we receive considering the new region is heavily based on said country.

I think there is a chance we may see an Ice/Poison or Ice/Fire type, or I am hoping so, anyways. I wish I was more familiar with Spanish folklore, as that might give insight whether or not there is a creature who could serve as inspiration for a Pokémon with either of these typings. I do feel as though Ice/Poison would make for a spectacular legendary!!

I would like to see Froslass take on a regional form, perhaps losing its ice type and becoming ghost/fairy, ghost/steel, or ghost/rock. It would also be neat to have Gardevoir and Gallade adopt the ice type via a regional form! (:

I hope we get more, but here's my prediction:

I'm expecting something similar to the Alola games tbh, given that the region is supposedly based on spain (so another 'hot' region).
If it's exactly like Alola we'd get two Regional Ice type forms and 1 new one.
I certainly won't complain if we get more though =D

Ice type regional forms for the following Pokemon: Ekans line, Sentret line or Whismur line.
Given GF's love for giving gen 1 new regional form it's a safe bet a gen 1 Pokemon will get a regional form once again, albeit not necessarily an Ice type one.
Before Legends I would've bet on an Icy Arcanine, but that seems rather unlikely now. An Ice version of Ekans could be cool and gives us a Poison/Ice type at last!
Sentret could be an Ice/Normal type and Whismur maybe an Ice/Dark type.

New type combinations (Normal/Ice or Ice/Poison), or perhaps a proper Ice/Fire type:
I'd gladly take any of these tbh. I'm hoping for at least one of them, but if I'd have to pick I'd go with Ice/Poison. A Pseudo with this typing could be really cool!

Ice type legendaries are pretty scarce. Articuno in gen 1, Regice in gen 3, Kyurem in gen 5 and Glastrier/Ice Rider Calyrex in gen 8. So tbh, I'm not expecting one in gen 9.

Will we finally get an Ice type Pseudo:
I really hope it happens, but it seems a bit unlikely. Tbh at this point I'll take any pseudo that isn't yet another Dragon type... unless ofc it's a Dragon/Ice type! xD

Will there be an Ice type Specialist:
If they keep the gyms split between versions like in SwSh, I think it's pretty likely. So I'll say yes.

I told myself I'd throw the first new Ice type I came across on my team, and I did! I caught a Cetoddle that is now a Cetitan =)
I also caught a Flittle early on in a Tera Den that had Ice as it's Tera Type. Both have been on my team ever since they were caught =3

I hope there will be at least one, but I'm kinda doubtful with how little Regional Forms they gave us.
I kinda hope they will give us a regional form for the Legendary beasts, like they did with the Kanto birbs in Galar. If they do, a Paldean Suicune would be perfect for either gaining the Ice type or swapping into it =3

I didn't use any of the new Ice-types on my team (only ones I care for are Chien-Pao and Shiny Iron Bundle, but I try to refrain from using Legendaries anymore and the other is version exclusive). I did give my first Shiny of the Gen., Glimmora, the Ice Tera Type though! Glimmet sort of reminds me of "glory-of -the-snow" flowers, so I thought it was fitting.

I was right about absolutely nothing. I still am hoping for some sort of Froslass regional form in the future! I will say, I am delighted with the inclusion of Grusha this generation, as I absolutely adore him!

I, too, haven't properly utilized any of the newly introduced ice types this generation. I'm rather impartial to the Frigibax line personally, though I do like the Cetoddle line.

In Paldea, Hail has been removed from the game and has been replaced by Snowscape. Snowscape boosts the Defense stats of Ice types.

Which do you prefer? Have you ever made use of Hail/Snowscape?
Do you think getting rid of hail was necessary? Would you rather have seen Hail get buffed instead for example?

The defensive buff is nice, but I kinda liked the damage done by hail as well.
I do feel like Snowscape might be better for the defense increases. The chip damage done by weathers has never been that spectacular.

I only tend to use weathers if a Pokemon has an ability that let's it set it up without having to waste a turn on it. I haven't used either all that much.

Do you think getting rid of hail was necessary? Would you rather have seen Hail get buffed instead for example?

They could easily have merged the two imo and make it more like Sandstorm. Keep the Damage over time to non Ice types and also have it increase one of the defensive stats, potentially even both.

I haven't been able to test out snow myself, but the more that i learn about the new mechanic, the more promising it seems. I think fearsome baxcalibur will be even stronger in snow than it would in hail. I'm looking at this pokemon, and a 1.5 defense boost from snow on top of ready such tanky stats will not go down easy, and the rock, steel and fighting moves that you might typically use to get off some super-effective damage will mostly be physical attacks and now doing a lot less with the snow.

I hear that the snowscape defense boosts also stacks with aurora veil, so that is something that would help ice pokemon in general be better able to weather attacks. I hope Alolan Ninetales returns eventually because she will be even better in snow!

I had to get used to the idea of snow not doing hail's chip damage to non-ice pokemon. My first impression was that it didn't need to be an either-or, and instead of having snow replace hail they should have just buffed hail to raise the defense while keeping the weather damage, combining the two the way that sandstorm does for the special defense of rock types. But I'm starting to change my mind, and think that it might actually make snow easier to use than hai to not have passive damage, because it gives you more options for teammates. You could bring pokemon that aren't ice types that would benefit the team, and not have to worry about them taking weather damage like Slowking, who had chilly reception to set up the snow. So I think snow sounds pretty good.

Which do you prefer? Have you ever made use of Hail/Snowscape?

I prefer snow over Hail, definitely. I use Abomasnow on one of my Trick Room teams for Doubles. I like it better because not only does it boost Abomasnow's Defense, but snow also doesn't hurt my teammates while still benefiting Abomasnow.

I don't think that hail was truly removed. Instead, they just changed the name from hail to snow and altered the effects a bit. The also changed the name of the move Hail to Snowscape. Because of that, I will also consider it a buff because they made it better. Giving Ice-type Pokémon a 50% Defense boost is better than doing chip damage to non-Ice-type Pokémon every turn. Ice-types have a ton of weaknesses and only resist their fellow Ice-types. This makes Ice-type, arguably, the worst type defensively. Other than that, it still retains every other effect of hail.

As a side note, I like snow better from a game perspective as well because snow makes more sense than hail, especially with Abilities named "Snow Warning." I also don't see snow damaging any Pokémon. Hail causing chip damage makes sense because that stuff can put dents in cars, crack windshields, and injure or even kill people sometimes depending on the side of the hail. If anything, it made more sense to have snow heal all Ice-type Pokémon on the field gradually, similar to Grassy Terrain, rather than damage non-Ice-types.
