3rd Gen Should starter pokemon be evolved?

It's like asking would yu rather have a totodile or a feraligator

I once kept my Bulbasaur a Bulbasaur. Owned the Elite Four with a Level 74 Bulbasaur.
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!
So no. I don't. Unless it's a Shiny Charmander.

it depends on what pokemon you like i keeped my piplup as a piplup now i Own poeple with a lvl 98 piplup

i didnt evolve my piplup until lv 52 because I thought prinplup and empoleon were ugly and i didnt realize how much better he could be.

My little sister has never evolved her starters at all. Fully evolved them, anyway.

Its all choice if you like or pokemon the way they are keep them that way if you want them to be personally i like keeping Piplup a Piplup because its cool ^^ look at empoleon what an ugly piece of poke

Well I won't evolve my starter until much later if its a Mudkip. if I'm not wrong, Mudkip learns Hydro Pump at level 45. My game file was deleted so I can't refer to my Mudkip. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Well tbf, its level 42, I did the same. Mudkip until 42 for Hydro Pump, the best attack you wont learn by evolving it is Muddy Water, and Hydro beats that attck personally. Its the same for Torchic at level 43, with Flamethrower.

Treecko is different, wait until level 26 for Mega Drain, then evolve asap so Grovyle can learn Leaf Blade, much better than late-learnt Treecko-only move Giga Drain. And with learning Mega Drain, its too similar an attack.

I think you should evolve them. Yeah, it may learn some moves later, but so what? You can always breed your evolved starters with Ditto and get the first evolution starter lol.

For battling purposes, I say let them evolve as soon as possible. Yes, when a pokemon is unevolved it does level up and learn moves quicker, but it doesn't have the grunt to execute it as powerfully as an evolved, unless you have the type advantage. Which you'll see will become a necessity when in a proper battle in which you still have a starter.

[I did however get a Azurill, taught it Hydro Pump, Solarbeam, Hyperbeam and Fire Blast, and trained it to Lv.100 just for lolz when I finished the game. XD]

The moral of the story is: No matter how many times you evolve it or train it, Meganium still sucks @$$.... period.

That's just evil. Look, the Chikorita family doesn't suck - It's just that you have a hard time going through Johto with it. When you get to kanto, li'l Chiko will be better against gyms and such. Totodile's family - if you ask me - sucks a lot more. On-topic: You should evolve all Sinnoh, Kanto, Hoenn, and Johto starters. Yes, they are cute and all, but in the end, you need the fully evolved. But there are some I can't stand *cough* Venasaur and Infernape *cough*

IMO, Pokemon need to evolve to stay on top. I am currently re-going through Leaf Green and have a Blastoise.

BUT! I do have a Pikachu named Pikachick that extremelly needs evolving but It's back sprite is so cute that I don't want to. Plus I can't stand Raichu. They're like sooo fat.

I've been starting to get rid of my starters, so I guess it doesn't matter :p

The problem I had was the lack of double type for ALL the starters, it doesnt seem fair while blazeken and swampert are 2 types and sceptile is only 1 type. sceptile should have been grass and dark or something

It's all a matter of opinion. One of my friends refuses to evolve his Lvl. 70 Quilava and Lvl. 65 Tododile, but I, personally, evolve all of my Pokes. Otherwise, they can't learn moves like Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, or Hydro Cannon!
