Pokemon Transformation- (PG-15)

Before Barry could put his escape plan into action, another one of those pokemon things was released by the boy. This one was also red, however it looked like a strange genetically modified duck.

Facing himself and Chris, the creature (apparently a 'Magby') exhaled a large plume of purple smoke, enveloping the two. Barry coughed in disgust once before holding his breath the best he could, trying to find a way out of the smoke. Chris two was gagging and struggling to breath.

Barry managed to hear something going on outside the smoke,

"Now Magby use Heat Wave!"

"Say your prayers!"

Images of scorching heat and drought flashed through Barry's mind at this. What exactly was about to happen?

Certainly not what he expected anyway. Out of nowhere, Brooklyn pounced on the reptillian duck and began wrestling with it.

Seizing the opportunity, Barry grabbed Chris and dived to the side, hurling both of them out of the smoke. Barry gasped for breath - he was this close to turning blue. Mind you, he was already teal. So, a more blueish teal.

He rolled onto his back and looked forward to see how Brooklyn was coping. For some reason she was running around madly and the duck was in hysterics. But it seemed Brooklyn was having none of that...

"I'll teach you to laugh at me!"

"Get off me you crazy cat!"

"Say uncle!"

"Ouch! Never!"

"Then eat wet sand fire breath!"

"Mrmpfh!!"

Barry simply stared and blinked as the two wrestled along the sandy beach. He got to his feet as the duck slammed Brooklyn's skull with its tail. He was about to intervene when he was distracted by what was going on beside him. Chris's body was letting off a series of electric surges, and his fur was standing straight up with the static. He bared his teeth before running into the scene, slamming Magby off of Brooklyn, and then letting loose with a series of shocks.

Barry thought for a second, that Chris was a maniac. However before he could seal the deal, he swayed and collapsed from exhaustion.

Barry jogged in as fast as he could, "Hang on Chris," he said as he slung the surprisingly light Pikachu over his shoulder and turned to leave. He faced Brooklyn,

"Thanks." he said cracking a smile, "Now c'mon. We should be safe from this kid in the forest."

(OOC: Ugh, this just seemed like a big narration, but if it moves the story onwards :P)

Jake looked over, and saw a bee-Pokemon piercing Gwen's wing. She screamed, and Jake rushed over to help her. Before Jake could get there, however, Kassie hit the bee-Pokemon, and the bee-Pokemon started to flee. Jake realized that Gwen wasn't getting up, and his fears were confirmed when Kassie yelled, "Jake, Gwen, did either of you play the games? I didn't, so I don't know what cures poison. Do either of you?"

Come on, think! Jake cursed himself. Who knew that Pokemon was going to be so important in his life? He knew that there were some berries that could heal poison, from what he had heard from some people. However, he had no idea which berry did it, or what it looked like. "I don't know!" Jake said to Kassie, "But I think that there's a berry that can help her! You guard her while I go look for berries!" And with that, Jake dashed off into the forest.
~~~~~~~~~
A few minutes later, Jake came back with as many berries as he could hold. "Here's all the berries that I can find. Let's hope one of these works!" And with that, Jake started to shove the berries into Gwen's mouth, in hope that one would help her.
All Gwen could feel was the pain now. She heard Kassie scream something, and vaguely caught her name, but it fell away in pieces. Didn't she just die? Now she was going to die again? Maybe she'd come back as a Digimon this time...
She would have laughed, but all she could do right now was sob and scream. It was like she'd reverted instantly, dulled down to her two most basic actions thanks to death. You come into the world screaming and crying, and you leave it doing just the same.
A blur-- the outline of Jake-- flew past her vision. Leaving again? She moaned through her gasping sobs.
Kassie stayed with her. Such a kind shrew.
This was it. Gwen was more than positive she was about to die. Her ability to think faded away, until only one thing ran through her mind-- Jessie.
"Jessie!" she gasped, tears completely obstructing her vision now. Shapes were moving-- more than one now-- but she didn't care. This was the end.
"Je-" she started again, but suddenly things were being shoved into her beak. They gushed into her throat, and for a terrifying second she felt herself choking. She coughed weakly, but whatever was pushing them in kept right on doing it. Gwen flailed pointlessly, before something rather amazing happened.
Gwen felt the pain begin to fade. Strength returned to her, and for some reason she felt like she'd never be able to sleep again. She rolled onto her side, pushing herself up and surveying herself for damage.
Not a single scratch on her. In fact, her feathers had a pretty sheen to them. She peeped curiously, looking at the point-of-entry on her wing, but nothing could be seen.
Looking up, she saw Kassie standing to the side, and Jake standing in front of her-- berry juice staining his cream fur. It only took a moment for it to register, what with the sticky taste of berries pushing through into her thoughts, and then she lunged at Jake, tackling him and throwing him backwards in a hug. She landed on top of him, still hugging him, peeping happily.
"I can't believe I'm going out like this" Brooklyn thought gritting her teeth in irritation as she struggled under Magby's grip, the little thing was pretty strong. Magby grunted, indicating that it was finished charging for its attack, its yellow cheeks were puffed up, looking as though they were filled with two golf balls "This is it" she shut her eyes tightly and waited for the worst to happen.
. . .
The end never came.
How weird. "
I thought getting his with fire up close would hurt more" slowly opening one of her eyes, Brook blinked, upon noticing that Magby was no longer on her and Chris was letting the poor lizard have it, she winced while watching the Pikachu shock the living daylights out of the fire type "Ooh, that looks painful, I'm glad I'm not on the receiving end of that one" eventually after a successful number of shocks, Magby was down for the count, but then seconds later Chris collapsed in a fit of exhaustion.
Barry quickly took action and scooped uo Chris, before turning tail and running towards her, she quickly sat up and shook the sand from her fur "Thanks." he said cracking a smile "Its no problem" she mumbled returning the smile "Now c'mon. We should be safe from this kid in the forest." Brooklyn nodded but then paused "Uhh, you go ahead, I'll catch up. I gotta run back and get the fish I caught for our lunch. I'll be damned to have worked that hard and getting my tail bitten for nothing, so I'll be back in a flash!" Brooklyn then took off towards the area where she left the food bowl, not giving Barry a chance to respond.
"Okay, sounds good! I'm starving..." Barry replied as he plodded along the beach towards the forest, still carrying Chris. Glancing back, he saw the boy throwing a tantrum - all of his pokemon had presumably fainted.
Barry trode a few meters into the foliage, so as to make it easier for Brook to find them. He found a soft patch of moss and tall grass at the base of an old, stumpy tree and decided to place Chris there. Suddenly, another smell caught his attention. This time it was very sweet, and not too far away either. Barry looked up the tree he placed Chris beneath. A golden substance was drizzling from it.
"If it's sap," Barry said taking a scoop with his hand, "why does it smell so good?"
He sucked the substance off of his hand - and then his eyes went wide. It was gorgeous, delicious honey. After one mouthful, Barry was using two hands in quick succession, shovelling the honey into his mouth. It slid down his throat and straight to his stomach, releasing its flavour in a satisfying way.
He took another scoop, "Here, Chris," he said holding it to the Pikachu's mouth, "Mate - you've got to try this stuff!"
Chris didn't react.
"Oh yea. I forgot..." Barry mumbled, realising that Chris had fainted. But what could he do? Cold. Yeah, maybe something cold. A drink! A drink would do. But where could he find water...
"I'd better wait for Brook," Barry said as if Chris could hear him, "Safety in numbers and all. We'll find some water for you..."
(OOC: It's late here. Very late xD Hence the short post. Tomorrow though! :P)
Beo watched as his new pal Keaton shoot flames out of his mouth. He wanted to ask how in the world he did that but he could tell Keaton was upset about something and that he didn't even know how he did it.
"When we need to light the fire, I'll just do that again. Other than that I can't think of anything else I can do to help set camp, since everything we have to gather I'd get all slobbery and wet…" he said looking down again. "I'm sorry I'm not of much use…" He said looking up at Beo again. Keaton had a look of despair on his face, and Beo could tell he was still not use to his new body. He then watched Keaton curl up on the ground and lay down much like a real dog. "When the fire needs to be lit, tell me. Sorry again…"
"Alright I will, and by the way Keaton your not useless, with out you I would never have defeated the Poochyena's or I couldn't build the best dam fire ever!" Beo said giving Keaton some words of encouragement before heading off to find some fire wood.
After a few minutes of walking he finally came upon a bunch of fallen branches which he guessed were caused by the storm earlier.
"Well this should work!" Beo shouted in excitement before sprinting back to camp as he noticed it was starting to get even darker.
"Hey Keaton i'm back! Beo said arms full of bare branches and ones still covered in leafs. He then set the bare one's down in a tee pee position and circled it with rocks to keep the fire from spreading to the forest. "Now just to make a shelter in case it rains". Beo whispered to himself driving four branches into the ground and then he took the branches with leafs on them and lay them across the top of it.
"Well what do you think Keaton? Oh and now's your big chance buddy go ahead and light the fire!" Beo said hoping Keaton would create an awesome fire and gain some pride.
Kassie's tail whipped nervously as she stayed with Gwen, praying that the poison would be weak enough that she could survive it at least until Jake got back. Gwen sounded as though she was in horrible agony, and there was nothing Kassie could do about it. She took Gwen's flipper in her paw gently and examined the wound. There was purple fluid seeping from the shallow wound, along with trace amounts of blood. The most disturbing part was the tangy scent filling her nose that she knew was the scent of blood. Being able to actually smell it wasn't something that she had ever expected would happen to her. The good news was that Jake appeared on the horizon soon after that, his arms full of plump berries of various shape, color, and texture. Kassie heaved a sigh of relief and moved aside. Jake then began to force berry after berry down Gwen's beak. For a moment, Kassie was afraid that he was only going to choke her. But then Gwen coughed, rolled over, and pushed herself up as though she were fine.
Though Kassie was wonderfully relieved, she was mystified at the same time. Which berry had done the trick? And how was it that the wound she had just observed on Gwen's flipper was completely healed already? This Pokemon stuff just kept getting weirder and weirder. She cursed herself for not having played the games, watched the anime, or at least collecting the cards. If she had perhaps she would know more about the world she had been mercilessly thrust into. The good news was, she felt stronger since having beat the Beedrill. The change wasn't horribly obvious, but it was there.
"This has been an experience," she commented. "I wonder what those were? I bet if we could steal one of those Poke… encyclopedias? Pokedexes, I think, maybe it'll help. All I know about it is that it changes appearance every season in the anime, and it tells you information on the different species."
That said, she turned her attention to the rest of the berries Jake brought. A certain aroma was making her positively ravenous. She followed the scent to a pink, plump berry that looked particularly delicious. There were several in the pile, so she took one and nibbled it slowly. The juices flooded her mouth, making her eyes brighten with delight.
"This is the best thing I have ever eaten," she said happily as she took another bite. "It's so… sweet."
After Jake shoved a few berries down Gwen's mouth, he saw that the wounds that she had had were disappearing, almost instantaneously. Unexpectedly, Gwen threw herself at Jake with a hugging dive tackle. "Oof!" Jake said as he was tossed to the ground, with Gwen happily chirruping on top of him. "Err... Thanks... Can you get off now?" Jake asked as he struggled out of the hug. It wasn't that he minded the hug, it was just that it somehow made him feel uncomfortable...
Just as Jake struggled free, Kassie began to speak, "This has been an experience. I wonder what those were? I bet if we could steal one of those Poke… encyclopedias? Pokedexes, I think, maybe it'll help. All I know about it is that it changes appearance every season in the anime, and it tells you information on the different species."
"That's a good idea!" Jake replied, and then remembering an episode of Pokemon he saw a long time ago, he said, "I remember that the Pokedex thingy also had a type of plant in it. Maybe it can tell us what these berries do..." It was then that Jake realized that Kassie wasn't listening, and was munching happily on a berry. He started to get mad, but then realized that it wouldn't help the situation. It's not exactly the best situation to begin with, Jake thought, But it could be worse. If those bees had attacked me alone, I would have been dead.
"Anyways," Jake continued, "I say we find some shelter for the night. I think that the forest should be good for now." Jake looked at Gwen and Kassie expectantly, and waited to see their response.
Jake pushed her off, but Gwen didn't mind. She was already embarrassed of having hugged him in the first place. Of course, if you don't hug someone when they save your life, when do you? She stepped back, coughed once, then turned to look at the sandshrew to the side of her.
Even though Kassie was standing next to them, she hadn't seemed to notice the slight awkwardness. An idea came to her, and she decided to express it to them.
"This has been an experience," she commented. "I wonder what those were? I bet if we could steal one of those Poke… encyclopedias? Pokedexes, I think, maybe it'll help. All I know about it is that it changes appearance every season in the anime, and it tells you information on the different species."
Gwen's was still a bit stunned from the situation just moments ago, and so instead of respond, she merely nodded towards Kassie. Pokedexes, yes siree. They'd tell you whatever it was that was about ta kill ya.
Jake's voice broke through her mental ramblings.
"That's a good idea! I remember that the Pokedex thingy also had a type of plant in it. Maybe it can tell us what these berries do..." he trailed off, obviously thinking about something perturbing, before continuing. "Anyways, I say we find some shelter for the night. I think that the forest should be good for now."
Gwen nodded at Jake, stepping a bit closer to him. She didn't know why, but suddenly the navy and cream body was very comforting.
"I agree," she mumbled. "Even though one of those must have been a coffee berry or something. I don't think I'll ever be able to sleep in a million years."
As if to confirm this, she spread her tiny wings out on either side and did a few quick laps around the other two, before coming to a stop next to Jake again.
"Pip!"
After splitting away from Barry and the unconscious Chris, Brooklyn made her way back to her earlier catch with quick haste, she glanced back briefly to spot Barry disappearing behind some foliage and the kid was throwing a tantrum over his fainted Pokémon, she smirked slightly "That's what he gets for trying to capture us. Now where's the food. . ." Brook narrowed her eyes and squinted slightly before crying out in joy "found i— Hey!? Get away from that!"
Brooklyn growled, gnashing her teeth together angrily as she watched some odd blue and white pelican type Pokémon dip its head into the fish bowl and began to feast, but upon her appearance it became startled and flew away. Hissing to herself, Brooklyn peered inside the bowl to assess the damage, fortunately the weird pelican managed to leave them food, unfortunately they could only have one fish a piece instead of two frowning, Brooklyn placed the bowl on her head, resting it snugly between her ears, she then walkedran towards the area where she'd seen Barry had carted Chris, following the scent of their wet fur and his pretty obvious tracks, which she made sure to cover and get rid of with her tail and a quick swipe of her paws.
Bursting through the bushes, a sweet smell instantly hit her nose and she saw Barry feasting on some yummy looking tree sap, blinking she moved to sit beside Chris and placed the bowl down beside her "Well, I'm back, but a stupid Pelican stole the extra fish so we're each only left with one and I was thinking we could have Chris fry them with his Thundershock attack, because I'm not too keen on eating raw fish" had she a nose, it would've crinkled in disgust at the thought of eating a scaled uncleaned fish raw "a cat I may be, but I still have some common sense. What are you eating Barry?" While asking that question, she absentmindedly leaned down and began to scratch at her ear with her back leg and shook her fur in the process.
Chris's ears twitched as a sweet smell passed through his nose. Chocolate? No. It was kind of like sugar. Some other smell, something old, decaying , and musky was there , but was overshadowed by the sugary scent. However, he could not tell what it was solely from his sense of smell, and his vision was still covered in darkness. Why was that? Was he dead? Blind? Probably not. What had even happened? It was at this thought, everything began to trickle back into his mind, the hamster finally beginning to spin the wheel. The battle and the series of events fit back into place. That's right, he was a Pikachu.
As if the notion had unlocked his eyelids, Chris groggily opened his eyes, slowly glancing side to side. He was sitting at the base of some ancient looking tree, moss and brush surrounding them. To his relief, Barry was there (Albeit, scarfing down some sap looking stuff) and Brook sat next to him (Albeit, scratching her ear with her back leg).
"Hey guys…" Chris dazedly said, forcing a grin. "How's it go-" He stopped mid-sentence, closing his eyes and gritting his teeth as a sharp pain resonated from his back, reminding him even more of the battle, fatigue not helping the case.
Unbeknownst to him, there was a two-fingered slash mark almost perfectly perpendicular to the three vertical brown stripes going across his back. Although fortunately, the cut was no longer bleeding, the damage was still there, slightly visible through the yellow and brown fur.
<Who knew monkeys had claws?> Chris groaned, opening his eyes into a scowl. He leaned forwards, lifting himself onto four, then two legs. He stood there, wobbling for a second, a lightheaded feeling filling his mind, before standing firm. Even so, he began to pant a little. Standing was even a little taxing at the moment, but he pushed through it. He would have to at the moment. Rest would come later. As he looked around the clearing, his eyes finally rested upon some sort of bowl (at least that's what it kind of looked like) with a fish inside it. Almost immediately, his foggy but functional mind came up with an idea.
Pointing at the fish with a paw, he spoke. "Hey, I could probably fry that…" Chris paused for a second, thinking it through a little more."…or… at least try to make a fire with my lightning attack so we could cook it. Of course, someone would have to clean it first." Chris eyed Brook expectantly as he voiced the last sentence, all the while fighting the will to collapse.
Gwen and Jake seemed to be having a somewhat tender, awkward moment, so Kassie made herself as inconspicuous as possible. Having been mute her entire life, in social situations it wasn't unusual for her to be overshadowed in conversations. It wasn't something that really bothered her. She sat down and continued nibbling on Pecha berries, averting her eyes respectfully from the two Pokemon. After all, it was rude to gawk. She took the risk of feeling like she was watching them like a movie, popping popcorn in the form of sweet, sweet berries. Instead after she finished the one she had she traced patterns in the sand with one claw. She drew a rabbit first, with long fluffy ears and big eyes. Then she added clouds, and a flower, and then a sheep. The sand drawing was coming together nicely. As an afterthought she grabbed a few berries and bit into them, causing them to juice. Kassie dripped this juice onto different parts of the sand drawing until it had nice color to it. Satisfied, she looked up to find that the awkwardness seemed to be over between Jake and Gwen. That was good; awkward situations made her feel… awkward.
"The forest will have to do," Kassie said quietly. Since being attacked by the bees she felt as though there were things all around that wanted to kill her. "I don't see what other choice we have. Maybe we can find some tree roots we can get under, I saw that in some movie where they were animals. If not, I think I'm supposed to be a digger." She gestured with her claws to demonstrate, then went on. "I could always dig us a quick burrow. I don't know how well I'll do, but I'll make sure it's stable enough not to crush us."
Experimentally she sifted sand with her back claws and was surprised to find that it came as second nature to her, and she had to stop herself from furiously burrowing down. That was a promising sign… she thought.
Kassie jumped somewhat as Gwen peeped loudly and began to run around herself and Jake, her flippers outstretched. Tilting her head, she watched the smaller blue bird, her expression questioning. How anyone could have that much energy after a day like this was beyond her.
"Well, I'm back, but a stupid Pelican stole the extra fish so we're each only left with one and I was thinking we could have Chris fry them with his Thundershock attack, because I'm not too keen on eating raw fish," Brook said as she reappeared and sat next to Chris, "a cat I may be, but I still have some common sense. What are you eating Barry?"
Barry licked his fingers clean, "Honey. I mean proper, golden honey - I'm surprised it was sapping out of a tree. But I like the sound of fish - if only Chris here was up and about..."
"Hey guys…" as if on cue, Chris began to stir, "How's it go-" he stopped as he flinched from his pains. Slowly, he made his way onto his hind legs, and looked at the fish Brook caught,
"Hey, I could probably fry that..." he said.
"That's handy!" Barry said, becoming excited at the sound of fried fish, "That was the plan,"
"Or… at least try to make a fire with my lightning attack so we could cook it. Of course, someone would have to clean it first."
There was a pause. Barry stood up,
"I'll go and get firewood then! Besides, Brook there has the claws for the job,"
Barry plodded through the shrubs, being sure to keep in a straight line so as not to get lost. Every little twig or branch he came across, he picked up and lugged around. Occasionally he'd also find leaves or chunks of grass too, and would save those so Chris's Thundershock could light it on fire easier. He stopped at one large bush, and he dropped all of the wood - it was full of those fruit berry things.
"There is a god!" Barry gasped as he plucked a berry the size of an orange and eat it. Just then he noticed a small, purple rat next to him weakly munching on the fruits.
"Back!" Barry snapped picking up one of the sticks and thrusting it forward. The rat paused and stared at him,
"My berries..." Barry poked the stick forward,
The rat bared its front teeth and bit down, snapping the twig in two,
"These berries are for everyone friend," the purple rat said more calm, snapping one more off, "They grow in vast numbers here. Pokemon from all over come here to eat all they can - after all, they grow back."
"I know how fruit works einstein..."
"But these berries are special," the rat said walking off, "one bite and they can heal you. All sorts of healing powers..."
Barry looked at the bush as the rat dissapeared. Helaing powers? Maybe if he got them to Chris and Brook, the three of them could recover. He took a step back and charged into the base of the bush with his body. All the berries fell off, landing lightly on the ground. Barry went round picking them up, one by one, however soon his arms were full - and there were still piles of berries lying around.
"I could store them in my body!" Barry exclaimed, "No wait - that's disgusting..." One berry rolled out of his grip. Tutting, he dropped the rest and tucked it under his long fur.
He paused, "What did I just do?" He lifted the long down and had a peek inside, "There's loads of room in there!" He gathered all of the berries, stuffing them inside his fur.
----------
"Back guys!"
Barry rummaged through the bushes and met up with Chris and Brook once more,
"I got the firewood," he said as he dumped the pile of twigs and branches infront of them, "but I also got..."
He lifted his down of fur, letting around four dozen or so berries roll out onto the ground.
"These things can heal," he said picking one up and handing it to Chris, "We can eat and regain our strength!"
He gathered all the berries into one large pile against the base of the tree Chris was at. He then piled the firewood up into a cone shape, putting the odd rock or two around it to hold them up.
He walked back to his place beside the berry pile and sat down, picking up a pink one this time,
"Well, there's the fire set up. All we need... is the fire..." Barry said, quickly scoffing the berry.
(OOC: Damn parents! :P I would have had this posted about an hour ago - but other matters came first...)
"Glad to see you're awake and kicking" Brooklyn murmured, watching as Chris finally woke up, albeit dizzily but she couldn't really blame him, seeing as how he worked himself towards the point of exhaustion, still itching at her ear, the fact that she was still scratching herself, was starting to become like second nature to her, plus it felt really good. She listened to him suggest, what she had told Barry only seconds before he were awake and then looked expectantly at her upon mentioning cleaning the fish Brooklyn blanched, but nodded slowly "I don't know how to clean fish!" She groaned mentally, trying to remember the cleaning procedure that she never really paid much attention while watching either of her parents in the kitchen.
"Uhh sure, I'll go clean the fish. . . be back in a few" she mumbled placing the bowl back on her head and took off towards the ocean, her pace towards the water front was slow and aimless, she was too busy tying to figure out how she was going to clean and gut the fish, it was such a disgusting job that she didn't want to do and wished that she didn't have to, but in order to survive, she'd have to. "Ugh, I knew I shoulda went to Summer Camp back in 8th grade" Her glasses covered eyes stared blankly at the fish, lying in her messy bowl, which was beginning to fall apart, doing the wood a favor, she broke it, leaving the 3 fish piled on one long sheet of wood while the rest sat beside her, she had no clue what to do, aside from the fact that she needed ice "But where the heck am I supposed to get ice in the middle of a freaking beach?!" Her paws quickly shot up to her head and she let out an irritated groan.
As if on cue, a blue beam came shooting from behind her and instantly there was a block of ice, about as tall as her, resting on the wooden strip from her hasty bowl, she looked at the ice suspiciously, then glanced up "
God? Is that you?" A small voice suddenly spoke up from beside her, snorting "Heh, first that odd Munchlax and now an odd Meowth, what's next flying Dugtrio?" Brooklyn looked down and then yelped in surprise at the Rattata that sat beside her, its red eyes blinking up at her "d-don't do that!" Her hackles rose as she hissed angrily at the little rat, who seemed unfazed by her 'menacing' appearance "Your ice is melting" it pointed out with a dull voice and Brooklyn looked back at the ice to see that it was indeed beginning to perspire, she had to hurry!
"Shoot. Umm okay, I have the ice. . . now how do I clean it?"
"Clean it?"
"Yeah, I gotta clean the fish, don't wanna get us sick from it!"
"Seriously?"
Brooklyn nodded, extremely serious, her lips set into a straight line and her eyes locked onto the Rattata's, so she was a bit confused when the mouse's lips began to twitch lightly before it burst into full blown laughter "Buwhahahahahaha! That's... this is rich! Hahahahaha!" Brooklyn scowled at the Rattata and narrowed her eyes "What's so funny" she demanded, glaring at the purple rat, who took its time, composing itself and stiffening its giggles "Well, one thing is, that fish in particular is boneless and it doesn't need cleaning, all you have to do is cook it, or eat it raw, its tastes good either way makes good Sushi too, me, Goka and Tobias eat it all the time" Brooklyn blinked at the Rattata, somewhat thankful to find out she wouldn't have to be gutting a fish today "Tobias? That your boyfriend or something? Or is it this Goka?"
"Ugh, ew! No way never, not in a million years! Sawyer's way too cool for that arrogant flame for brains! Goka's cool though and no neither of them are my boyfriends, that's wrong" The Rattata shook her head, the thought of her and Tobias or Goka for the matter, being anything other than friends or whatever their little trio weas, was really weird and creepy. "Sawyer?" Sawyer nodded "Yeah, I'm Sawyer and Tobias and Goka are my friends, we live around these parts, its pretty nice, when trainers aren't running around trying to capture us, so are you gonna cut that fish or what? I'm guessing your friends with that weird Munchlax and some other, probably odd Pokémon, right?" Brooklyn scowled slightly, she didn't like being called weird, especially when she wasn't.
"Yeah, Barry and Chris, he's a Pikachu" she added, not sure why she was telling the Rattata this. In response, Sawyer hummed "Odd, a Munchlax, Meowth and Pikachu, traveling
together? Sounds odd, but then again so does a Rattata, Chimchar and Charmander. . ." She murmured, more to herself than Brooklyn, who was looking lost "Hey, I've got an idea, since you're such a hopeless Meowth with no survival skills. . ." Brooklyn gave an indignant cry "Hey!" Which Sawyer ignored and finished her statement "I'll go get Tobias and Goka we'll help you guys out alittle alright?" Before Brooklyn could even give her a proper response, Sawyer ran off, leaving Brooklyn to sit there next to her melting ice blinking stupidly, wondering what happened.
"I have a really bad feeling about this" she mumbled making her way back towards Barry and Chris with the plank of fish balanced on her head "Well, I have good news, this fish is completely edible, cooked or raw! The bad news is, some weird talkative Rattata I met while trying to clean the fish, which I didn't get a chance to do, decided to go bring her Charmander boyfriend or whatever and help us out because apparently we're hopeless as Pokémon." Brooklyn sighed and placed the fish near the fire, this was gonna be a long day.
"I agree," Jake heard Gwen mumble, "Even though one of those must have been a coffee berry or something. I don't think I'll ever be able to sleep in a million years." To prove her point, she ran around Jake and Kassie a few times with her arms (or were they wings?) spread out at her side. She stopped next to Jake, who was still feeling a bit awkward from the hug that Gwen had given him earlier.
Oh well, at least she's not freaking out like earlier, or trying to punch me in the face, thought Jake.
Jake then heard Kassie begin to speak, even though she was being quite quiet. "The forest will have to do. I don't see what other choice we have. Maybe we can find some tree roots we can get under, I saw that in some movie where they were animals. If not, I think I'm supposed to be a digger." Kassie waved her claws a bit, and then continued, "I could always dig us a quick burrow. I don't know how well I'll do, but I'll make sure it's stable enough not to crush us."
Kassie then dug a small pit in the sand as if to test whether her abilities were as good as she suspected. Apparently, she was satisfied with herself, although it looked like she wanted to continue digging.
"Okay," Jake said, "If that's all settled, let's get going. I can get some more berries, I know where they are. Kassie can dig a hole for some shelter, and Gwen... I guess you can help me collect berries, unless you have something else in mind. Anyways, let's get going before it gets dark. I don't want to see what lies around here at night..." Jake shivered at the thought. As he scooped up the remaining berries, he noticed a small doodle in the sand that must have been done by Kassie. He didn't say anything, he figured that it would probably just embarrass her. Jake, berries in hand, went into the woods looking for a suitable tree to burrow under.
After an awkward pause, Barry was the first to speak up. "I'll go and get firewood then! Besides, Brook there has the claws for the job,"
"Uhh sure, I'll go clean the fish. . . be back in a few" Brook mumbled placing the bowl between her ears. Soon, Chris was alone.
Chris's ears fell as he let out a sigh and crossed his arms. He felt useless. Everyone else was out doing… stuff, and here he was, stuck at camp. Another wave of pain shot up from his back, snapping him out of the thought. Groaning, he spun his head around, trying to view the wound, but his body wouldn't let him. It must've been a pretty funny sight, the Pikachu spinning and turning rapidly, almost like he was chasing his tail. After a few moments of this, Chris gave up, having only succeeded in tiring himself out more. He panted for a moment, cooling himself off and catching his breath.
<I'll ask Brooklyn or Barry to take a look later> He sighed and looked towards the sky, his tail swaying slightly side to side. The sun was nearing the horizon; dusk would soon arrive.
"At least the sky's the same…" Chris mumbled under his breath.
"Back guys!" Barry rushed out of the brush, arms full of firewood.
"I got the firewood," he said as he dumped the pile of twigs and branches in front of them, "but I also got..."
Chris instinctively cocked his head as Barry lifted the down of fur covering his body, only to see fifty or so berries hit the ground around his feet.
"These things can heal," he said picking one up and handing it to Chris, "We can eat and regain our strength!"
Somewhat hesitantly, Chris reached out and grabbed the purple-blue berry, slowly turning it in his paws.
"Yeah… But they've been under your fur… So are they clean?"
He brought it up to his nose, sniffing the berry. Nothing seemed wrong with it, the thing actually smelt good; but somehow the magical Harry Potter "Healing powers" sounded sketch.
Chris brought the fruit up to his muzzle and took a bite, almost immediately, his eyes grew wide. It tasted incredible! Sweet, sugary, juicy; just amazing. But no healing powers yet… Maybe if he ate the whole thing, it would work. Using that as an excuse, Chris quickly devoured the berry, finishing it in a matter of moments and licking the excess juice off his muzzle.
Chris had to admit, he felt a little better, but not immensely so. Still, At least now he didn't feel like he was going to randomly keel over.
"Well, there's the fire set up." All we need... is the fire..." Barry said, quickly scoffing the berry.
"Right. Guess that's my job." Chris stepped forwards to the fire pit Barry had created. A quick bolt, like a lightning strike, would probably be the best for lighting a fire. Or at least, that's what he thought. Taking a deep breath, he pooled all his strength into a single shot, and sent a bolt of electricity flying toward the pile. As the bolt connected with the wood, it split in two, embers spewing all over the pile. For a second, Chris didn't think it worked, that the embers wouldn't be enough. But soon, the grass and twigs began to catch, and a fire was roaring in moments.
"Awesome." Chris grinned, looking at the fire before him. "Good job on the set up, Barry."
Pokemon sure were powerful. They could create lightning, cut through anything, spit fire; and now he was one. A Pikachu.
Fire now lit, Brook ran back into their "camp", the bowl o' fish still fit snug between her ears, but to Chris's dismay, not gutted. Just when he was about to ask "why", Brook beat him to it.
"Well, I have good news, this fish is completely edible, cooked or raw! The bad news is, some weird talkative Rattata I met while trying to clean the fish, which I didn't get a chance to do, decide to go bring her Charmander boyfriend or whatever and help us out because apparently we're hopeless as Pokémon." Brooklyn sighed, placing the fish near the fire, all the while, Chris giving her a strange look.
"Wait… What?"
All of a sudden, leaves began to rustle behind Chris. Cheeks sparking and static popping, Chris turned to the noise, tired but ready to be first to jump into the battle.
"Hey hopeless Meowth and pals, I bought my friends! Hope you don't mind.
Three creatures emerged from the brush. One, a purple rat, a Rattata; Another, resembling Charmeleon (tail on fire, orange skin, etc.) with a nasty scar running from his mouth and down his neck; And the last one… Chris's eyes narrowed and pain shot up his spine as he examined the last creature. It was a monkey. The same type he fought against, the same type that gave him that cut, the same kind that attacked them all. Thinking purely on the pain and revenge, Chris dropped down on all fours, building up an electrical charge as he ran towards the monkey. That is, until an orange, scaled hand blocked his vision. Chris immediately put on the breaks, looking up to see the scarred lizard standing over him, the fire on its tail growing steadily.
"Come on, Sparky." The lizard growled, giving Chris a toothy grin and scowl while making sure to show off his grotesque scar. "We're just here for a nice dinner. Plus, do you really think you could take me?" Somewhat reluctantly, Chris slowly backed off, all the while glaring at the chimp behind them. Backing down really wasn't his thing, but the lizard was right. It wasn't until he was next to Brook and Barry that the sparks died off. Chris lifted himself onto two legs, adjusting the blue headphones around his neck.
"Now that that's over…" The lizard turned to the Rattata, a wide grin on his face. "….Alright, get into the fire. Carnivores need to eat too."
"Alright I will, and by the way Keaton you're not useless, without you I would never have defeated the Poochyenas or I couldn't build the best dam fire ever!" Beo said cheering up Keaton a little then Beo headed off to find some fire wood.
Keaton lay there, just like a dog. He thought about the battle, Beo took down two of them no problem, and he scared one off and managed to fall unconscious. The only thing he was good for was fire. The more he thought of his new body the more he just wanted to just let instincts take over. Beo's scent grew fainter and then stronger till he returned.
"Hey Keaton I'm back!" Beo said carrying lots of sticks. Keaton found him jealous of Beo's hands and ability to carry things un awkwardly. Beo walked around setting things up and whispering to himself.
"Well what do you think Keaton? Oh and now's your big chance buddy go ahead and light the fire!" Beo said finally talking in a louder voice. Keaton rolled his eyes and looked over his back. He realized, also, that he had no idea how old Beo was, because he was only 12 and he hated to be babied. His mom did it all the time to try and make him happier and it didn't work.
Keaton got up and walked over to the fire wood and took a deep breath before shooting a flame at it and catching it on fire. He looked at Beo in the eyes, something he hadn't done to someone since 3rd grade, "Please don't talk to me like I'm five years old or something, I'm almost 13 ok?" he said in a serious voice, but as he stared he realized what he was doing. He immediately turned and ran on all fours and ran to the line of trees before the beach, where he collapsed in front of one.
It was mostly panic that drove him to do so, and he didn't really know why else he had ran off, but since he did it that would give Beo more reason to think he was some weird freak. He mentally beat himself up for running off for almost no reason. Plus would Beo even come to find him? He had given him the fire. Keaton knew what he had done was dumb, but kids at school hated him for his eye color before. Keaton lay there thinking that he probably just wasted his one chance at anyone liking him.
He stood back up after a few minutes and decided to go back and apologize for running off and try to do everything he could to get Beo to like him. And he started to walk back to camp.
"Haha. Very funny flame breath. How about we put you over the flame instead, you're big enough to feed all of us." Sawyer scowled in response to the Charmander's (joking?) comment. Brooklyn watched the trio with somewhat cautious eyes, there was no telling when they would just up and turn on them and compared to their trio, there seemed to be more to these guys than meets the eye. "Anyway, onto the introductions!" Sawyer stood on her hind legs proudly and pointed towards her two friends "I'm Sawyer. The arrogant scarfaced flame breath is Tobias and the monkey is Goka."
"Well, I'm Brooklyn" she took a slight step forward and then pointed a paw and Chris and Barry respectively "and this is Chris and Barry."
"Even their names sound weird" Sawyer mumbled loudly to Tobias and Goka, causing Brooklyn's eye to twitch slightly "Since you guys are so hopeless, we've decided to help out. We'll be taking care of dinner." Sawyer rubbed her paws together and grinned "We're having Crawdaunt over fried Oran and Pecha Berries"
"Crawdaunt?" Brooklyn blinked while Goka nodded "big lobster. Its quite strong, but its a good eat." Brooklyn frowned slightly "well that's reassuring. But we don't need your help, we already have fish and— Hey, that's our fish!" Brooklyn glanced over and saw Tobias had devoured their dinner, grinning fiendishly "Not anymore its not, it wasn't even filling at all" he picked at his teeth with one of his claws and Brooklyn let a low angry growl erupt from her throat as she glared at Tobias, lowering herself on all fours, hackles rising and her claws popping out and sinking into the dirt. She had worked hard on capturing that fish and first the pelican and now this guy?! "Why you no good lizard, that was our—" he cut her off with a sneer "Aw... Sorry. Did you catch that Kitty?" He scoffed, grinning wide. "How can you call yourself a cat, anyways, catching only one, small sardine like that? S-A-D" Her low growling turned into a pissed off hiss, how dare he! This arrogant Charmander! She'd show him a thing or two! Posture stiffened, tail erect and claws out Brooklyn was seconds away from leaping up and clawing Tobias' eyes out, but a comforting hand on her shoulder halted her attack.
"Please don't talk to me like I'm five years old or something, I'm almost 13 ok?" Keaton barked back at Beo before suddenly taking off towards the beach.
"Keaton...." Beo grunted to himself, he was only trying to help but he knew that Keaton must have had some problems before coming here. Maybe that was the point everyone had there problems, and if they could find the others, if there actually were others then maybe they could work together to figure out why they were brought here. Beo knew exactly what to do now, if Keaton wanted to be treated older then he would give him time to breathe, he'd be back and when he did Beo would welcome him back, after all his the only person he had so far in this strange world.
After quite awhile Keaton finally made his way back to camp. Beo was sitting patiently beside the camp fire and he knew exactly what to do.
"Hey Keaton come here for a moment" Beo said as Keaton made his way over to the fire and sat across from Beo, he looked upset with himself for some reason, and that's when Beo finally noticed the color of Keatons eyes.
"I'm almost twenty" Beo said pausing "My twin brother would be almost be twenty as well, unfortunately he's no longer with me and it's my fault" He began to say before a tear began to well up in his eyes. He slowly started rubbing the scar under his left eye. "During our senior year of high school we made the mistake of going to a party and doing some stupid things, but the stupidest off all was thinking I was ok enough to drive home that night.... We were in an accident, and he didn't make it, I walked away with this scar under my eye. For months after that I wished it was me that died and not him, it was my fault that he is gone" Beo said wipping more tears from his eyes. "That's when I lost fate in everything, that's the reason I don't believe in destiny or god everythings can be explained by science. Destiny wouldn't take someone away from you like that. Regardless the point i'm trying to make is even when hard times come you just have to push through them and not give up, no matter how much it hurts." Beo said before standing up and taking several deep breaths then turning back to Keaton.
"I'm sorry for treating you like a child earlier, I promise from now on I won't look down on you"
Barry was half paying attention when the other three creatures arrived - the other half of his mind was focused on scoffing berries. He began to slow down, however, as Chris got all fired up about the newcomers. Barry looked at them again - there was the purple mouse he met earlier, aswell as whom he hoped was a different fire monkey. The tallest of the three was a Charmander. Barry almost smiled as he recalled the good old days of pokemon - however the scar and teeth of the lizard seemed to tell Barry that smiling at him would result in death.
"Come on, Sparky." The lizard growled, giving Chris a toothy grin and scowl while making sure to show off his grotesque scar. "We're just here for a nice dinner. Plus, do you really think you could take me?"
Barry quickly shook his head as if the Charmander were talking to him.
"Anyway, onto the introductions!" the mouse said sitting upright, "I'm Sawyer. The arrogant scarfaced flame breath is Tobias and the monkey is Goka."
Barry took another look at this 'Goka' fellow. He definately wasn't the same ape from earlier, as he had a black stripe on his head for some odd reason.
"Well, I'm Brooklyn" Brooklyn said, pointing a paw and Chris and Barry respectively "and this is Chris and Barry."
Barry stood up again, "Pleasure's all mine." He wondered why he felt the need to suddenly be polite. Maybe it was intimidation...
"Since you guys are so hopeless, we've decided to help out. We'll be taking care of dinner." Sawyer rubbed her paws together and grinned "We're having Crawdaunt over fried Oran and Pecha Berries"
For a second, Barry thought he was about to blast out a jet of water like in the fight earlier - but it tunred out he was drooling. Why did that sound so delicious?
"Crawdaunt?" Brooklyn blinked while Goka nodded,
"Big lobster. Its quite strong, but its a good eat."
'Get in. I love lobster', Barry thought as he wiped more drool from his mouth,
"Well that's reassuring. But we don't need your help, we already have fish and— Hey, that's our fish!" Brooklyn suddenly said. Barry looked and saw Tobias next to an empty bowl. He could have cried - he eat the fish...
"Not anymore its not, it wasn't even filling at all" the Charmander coyly said, picking at his teeth. Brooklyn got on all fourse threateningly, "Aw... Sorry. Did you catch that Kitty?" Tobias scoffed, grinning wide. "How can you call yourself a cat, anyways, catching only one, small sardine like that? S-A-D"
Brooklyn looked like she was going to go mental. Barry took haste and grabbed her by the shoulder,
"C'mon Brook," he said trying to calm her down, "I've just spent my first hours in this unknown place fighting dangerous creatures. Here's these kind fellows offering to catch us a feast for the night, let's not fight." He let go, trusting that she wouldn't procceed to fight.
The monkey spoke up this time, "Well let's not dawdle then. C'mon." He walked towards the beach, but paused and approached Barry,
"That accent of yours," he said, "you must be from very far away..."
"Well, I," Barry began, "think I am. It's a long story, but let's eat first!"
Following Goka back to the beach, Barry turned and faced the other four, "Who's coming?"
(OOC: Let's go fish! :D)
