That's a very nice idea actually, as it would prevent the problem of someone accidentally overleveling, while still keeping a (soft) level cap. I'll think about it, and see if maybe this could replace the obedience system in a future version :)
For tagging out, that's true, it would increase grinding by a significant amount, so I think I'll just stick to not making the game too difficult that it would require such a system to be implemented. Or if I do decide to have tagging out an option, perhaps a limit of 1 pokemon that can be tagged out will be OK.
Thanks for your input! :)
hey stoch! <3 so I'd like to put in my 2 cents in this.
during the time i've been playing, i follow my typical style of play: i build a team focused on eliminating core weaknesses in the team and level each pokemon up by 5 before i switch to the next. while it has been somewhat of a slow progress, i think what you've been doing is fine. while there have been cases where my pokemon accidentally over leveled, the inclusion of the -1 level candies really helps. honestly the only complaint i have towards the leveling is the cost of the candies themselves, considering the amount of money we get in general combined with the leveling we do; it ends up feeling like we're being punished for overleveling by spending so much. Yes, it's not a lot of money at first, but then you arrive at the one city (forgot it's name lol) where you get charged 600 just to heal when it'd normally be free! As someone who levels the way i do, my pokemon sometimes end up taking some licks and needing heals, only for me to basically lose all my money and not even being able to level down some that leveled up to fast. idk if that's just something i deal with or not, but it's honestly not that big of an issue per say. idk maybe reduce the cost to the candies themselves so we don't feel like we're punishing ourselves so hard over a single over level...
