This is a metroidvania, monster taming/creature collecting hybrid and a gorgeous and fun game!
I haven't finished the story myself yet I'm about midway through on my Switch but loving it so far. I played the demo years ago on Newgrounds and purchased it as soon as it dropped on the Switch, and have been on & off playing since.
Have you played? Have you heard about this game at all?
I would think this game would be well beloved by this community but can't find many others talking about it here atm! So thought I would try and spread the word about it a bit! It has online pvp and leaderboards too which I will be avoiding for now til I hit post game lol!
They recently confirmed there is a free dlc update coming to the game too!
I believe I've seen mention of a mobile version being in the works too!
I should probably also mention that besides the fact both have you raising monsters, it's a very different experience to playing Pokemon.
The reception online has generally been mostly positive and I too highly recommend trying out this game!

I was surprised to see that the developer actually once posted here too and shared their game:
this old daily feature entry although now outdated still has some useful links like discord invite, dev team twitter, facebook.
