    Hikamaru Plays Pokemon Moon
Yes guys, I've finally got Pokemon Moon and I'm journeying through the Alola Region!

[PokeCommunity.com] Hika's Alola to the Alola Region!

    Name: Nichole
    ID No.: 324999
    Home: Route 1, Hau'oli Outskirts

So, I'm Nichole - a young kind girl originally from Kanto who has moved to the Alola Region with my mother! I am also aiming to become the Island Challenge Champion. It's so different from my origins in Kanto where we're so used to standard Gyms and a lot of older traditions. But I love Alola and I shall document my journey!

Part 1: Nichole Got a Pokemon!

So, it's my first day settling into our new house. Mom was looking out at the beautiful moonlight as I helped unpack the boxes. I was excited to seeing Professor Kukui in person and becoming a real Pokemon Trainer raising my own partners who will help me.

Kukui came to the door and took me on a little tour around Route 1 on the way to Iki Town, and as we arrived hopefully finding the Kahuna, he was nowhere to be seen. I did notice a mysterious girl dressed in white with a mysterious creature in her bag that she seems to call "Nebby".

I ran up the Mahalo Trail to the bridge to see what the big deal with the girl, and then I noticed her "Nebby" attacked by a flock of Spearow! I trod across the old bridge to save the little creature, but then we both fell off, only to be saved by the Guardian Pokemon of Melemele Island itself, Tapu Koko!

Returning to Iki Town, I met back up with Kukui and the girl I met earlier introduced herself as Lillie. Her bag contains a mysterious Pokemon called Cosmog, who is being kept inside to save it from harm. Soon, a huge old man came and he was the Melemele Kahuna Hala! He found out about my story with encountering Tapu Koko, and announced a festival was to be held to honour Tapu Koko.

Next, Kukui and Hala decided to entrust me with my own Pokemon, and I was introduced to the three starter Pokemon of Alola - the Grass-type Rowlet, the Fire-type Litten and the Water-type Popplio! After some good looking at the three Pokemon, I settled on choosing Popplio.

In Alola tradition, the starter Pokemon seem to be able to recognize the trainer who chooses them as a potential partner. Popplio walked over to me and seemed interested, and I held Popplio gently in my arms and introduced him to my mother who definitely thought he was cute and cool. On the way back home, I battled an energetic boy named Hau who had his partner Pokemon Litten, who definitely praised my Popplio as an awesome Pokemon.

Part 2: Festival and Rotom Pokedex!

The next day after me and Popplio became friends, we settled out back to Route 1 where Professor Kukui entrusted me with some Potions and Poke Balls. Now I felt like a real Pokemon Trainer being able to catch my own Pokemon. I witnessed Kukui teaching me how to catch Pokemon, using his Rockruff to catch a Pikipek.

Next, I encountered a Pikipek and thanks to some effort from Popplio I caught her. After that, I caught some more Pokemon in succession - including a Yungoos, Caterpie and Ledyba. All except the Ledyba underwent some training as I prepared to head back to Iki Town for the festival to honour Tapu Koko.

I soon arrived in Iki Town, where people gathered around to watch me battle Hau (who I found out was Kahuna Hala's grandson) again, where I had my Yungoos and Popplio do a combined effort to take out Hau's Litten and his newest team member Pichu. After the battle, Hala told of the Sparkling Stone that Tapu Koko left with me, and gave me an object called a Z-Ring. It's said to draw out Z-Power of your Pokemon.

Next Kukui informed me and Hau about the Island Challenge - where trainers must journey across Alola's four islands - Melemele, Akala, Ula'Ula and Poni, taking on the Island Trials and battling each island's Kahuna.

I then went back home and after some rest, Lillie took me to see Kukui in his lab where my Pokedex that he handed me earlier was powered up by a Pokemon called Rotom. I had never heard Pokedexes could have this level of personality, as Rotom managed to help me learn my way around Alola. Near Kukui's Lab I caught a few more Pokemon - a Slowpoke, Wingull and Rattata, who have an appearance that is so different from what I saw in Kanto! My Caterpie also evolved into Metapod, introducing me to finding out that Pokemon evolve and change forms but also grow stronger.

Alola is a region that feels so different, yet so alive.

Part 3: Seeing the Sights of Hau'oli City!

I arrived in Hau'oli City where I met up with Lillie again. She decided to give me a tour of the Pokemon Center, where I ended up also taking a break to have my Pokemon healed. Next I went to the Trainer's School where I defeated four trainers, caught more new Pokemon (including a Meowth that looked so different to my mother's Meowth from Kanto) and defeated the Teacher. Next I saw a kid with pink hair, who introduced himself as the Trial Captain Ilima. He heard of my potential as a trainer and told me about his Island Trial which is in Verdant Cavern north of Route 2.

Lillie showed me the Apparel Store where trainers can buy awesome new clothes, while Hau also showed me a store selling his favourite food - malasadas. I decided to give a malasada to a Pichu that I caught in the city, knowing that a Pichu needs to be very friendly to eventually become a Pikachu.

At the marina, I met up with Ilima again and we were ambushed by two grunts from Team Skull - a criminal cult who love stealing people's Pokemon. My awesome Alolan top-percentage Rattata managed to make short work of the grunt's Zubat. Next, Ilima decided to battle me to see if I was ready for the trial - he proved to be tough with a hard-hitting team of a Yungoos and Smeargle. Sadly my Magnemite fainted during the battle, but Pikipek and my recently-evolved Butterfree teamed up to defeat that strong Smeargle of his.

Hala then asked me to pat a Tauros that seemed to have kept blocking my way. It turned out the Tauros seemed to want adventure, like how I'm now on an adventure myself.

Anyways, next time it's off to Route 2!

    Part 4: Anticlimactic Trial!

Picking up from where I left Hau'oli City for Route 4, I did some battles against trainers and more new captures which included a Makuhita who I added to the team in place of my Butterfree for the time being. After defeating one of the trainers on Route 2, my Pikipek evolved into Trumbeak.

Next, it was time to head to Verdant Cavern and take on the first Island Trial by the Normal-type specialist Trial Captain Ilima. I had to check the burrows and find two Rattata (and a Raticate!) all of which my Makuhita made short work of. Then I had Team Skull ambush me again, but the grunt's Drowzee was easily bitten to oblivion by my dark Rattata.

Finally, I had to face the Totem Pokemon of Verdant Cavern - a giant Raticate. Makuhita was my solution here, and in the most unexpected way... OHKO'd it just with Force Palm. I thought Raticate was going to be harder than that, but oh well that's what happens when you're so weak to Fighting. I was then gifted my first Z-Crystal, the Normalium Z and now I can proceed to one day face the Melemele Kahuna Hala in battle.

Shortly after the trial, I managed to take down a trainer's Petilil and that made my Popplio evolve into Brionne! He may be more frilly, but he's always going to be my precious boy.

    Current Team:
    Brionne (M) Lv17 - Rash, Torrent
    Trumbeak (F) Lv15 - Gentle, Keen Eye
    Rattata (M) Lv15 - Bold, Hustle
    Makuhita (M) Lv16 - Sassy, Thick Fat
    Pichu (F) Lv13 - Hardy, Static
    Magnemite Lv13 - Timid, Sturdy

Part 5: Kahuna Hala and Meeting Rockruff!

So now that Ilima's Island Trial is done, I headed back to Iki Town to challenge the Island Kahuna of Melemele - Hala! His team proved to not be much of a problem, with my Trumbeak easily taking out his Mankey and Makuhita, but unfortunately she fell to his Crabrawler who unleashed the Fighting-type flurry-of-fists Z-Move, All-Out Pummeling! Thankfully Brionne was able to clean up the rest of the fight.

After the battle, Hala entrusted me with the Fightinium Z which now allows me to use All-Out Pummeling with Pokemon knowing a Fighting-type move. I also gained the ability to use Poke Ride with the Tauros I befriended earlier in the series. With my new powers I went back to Route 1 and detoured to Ten Carat Hill and found the next major member of my team - a female Rockruff.

Sadly I sent Trumbeak into retirement, but I've got good hopes for Rockruff contributing to the team. Well, soon it'll be time to head to Akala and finish the rest of the team.

    Current Team:
    Brionne (M) Lv19 - Rash, Torrent
    Rattata (M) Lv17 - Bold, Hustle
    Makuhita (M) Lv18 - Sassy, Thick Fat
    Pichu (F) Lv16 - Hardy, Static
    Rockruff (F) Lv13 - Quiet, Vital Spirit
    Magnemite Lv16 - Timid, Sturdy

Part 6: Lots and Lots of Akala Action!

Since the last entry, I settled foot into Akala Island, starting with looking around Heahea City which included an encounter of a duo of tourists from Kalos, who call themselves Sina and Dexio. Sina challenged me to a battle and my Rockruff managed to make short work of those Ice-types of hers.

The next destination was Paniola Town where I met up again with Mallow in the ranch. My next trial however, was at Brooklet Hill with the Water specialist Lana. I was faced up against a Totem Wishiwashi who had an Alomomola ally proving to be overwhelming my team. After some of my team failed, Pikachu did save the day and earn me the Waterium Z, who I gifted to my Brionne. Now he can utilize Hydro Vortex in battle!

During a battle on Route 4, my Pichu finally evolved into a Pikachu, and while my Rattata got retired to the PC I did have Makuhita evolve into Hariyama. The bad news is that he will soon be replaced by some newcomers, but he served me well on the team so far. I'm now in Royal Avenue, where the Battle Royal is hosted.

    Current Team:
    Brionne (M) Lv25 - Rash, Torrent
    Hariyama (M) Lv24 - Sassy, Thick Fat
    Pikachu (F) Lv22 - Hardy, Static
    Rockruff (F) Lv13 - Quiet, Vital Spirit
    Mudbray (M) Lv14 - Naive, Own Tempo
    Magnemite Lv21 - Timid, Sturdy

    Part 7: Two In One!

Loads have been done in this trainer's journal since last time. First I went to Wela Volcano Park en route to Kiawe's trial and caught my next major team member Salandit, after countless hours searching for an elusive female of the species. As for Kiawe's trial, I watched dances from his trio of Marowak and then Brionne made short work of the totem Salazzle. Defeating the totem earned me a Firium Z which I then gifted to my new Salandit.

Then on Route 8 heading for Mallow's trial, I came across a guy with funny hair and glasses. He introduced himself as Colress and he was enjoying the sights of Alola, giving me a TM after our encounter. Next, I got myself Stufful who has been surprisingly a tough Pokemon with its bulk. Then I went to Lush Jungle to do the trial with Mallow, where I used my Poke Ride Stoutland to find the four ingredients for the "Mallow Special". Next, Kiawe and Lana also joined us and we got attacked by a giant Lurantis... who happened to be the Totem Pokemon! I was able to defeat it with combined effort and earn the Grassium Z. I was then able to get the final piece of my team here, a Bounsweet who evolved into Steenee after some training.

I have since gone through Route 9, and explored Konikoni City and Memorial Hill before taking on Olivia, where I had two more evolutions - Rockruff evolved into Lycanroc while Stufful evolved into Bewear.

    Current Team:
    Brionne (M) Lv30 - Rash, Torrent
    Pikachu (F) Lv29 - Hardy, Static
    Lycanroc (F) Lv29 - Quiet, Vital Spirit
    Salandit (F) Lv27 - Brave, Corrosion
    Bewear (F) Lv27 - Mild, Fluffy
    Steenee (F) Lv27 - Brave, Oblivious

    Part 8: Ula'ula to New Z-Crystals!

Picking up from where this last left off, I went to the Dimensional Research Lab in Heahea City where I met Professor Kukui's wife, Burnet. She told us about the Ultra Wormhole, Ultra Beasts and the legendary Pokemon who was said to be a being of the moon. Next, it was time to face Olivia, and my Brionne managed to make short work of her with his Hydro Vortex. She gave me a Rockium Z after the battle, and decided to let my Lycanroc now able to use Continental Crush in battle.

Then, me and Hau met up with a guy from the Aether Foundation named Faba and he took us to visit the Aether Paradise where the group's headquarters were set. We were also greeted by a kind lady named Wicke, and then met the Aether President Lusamine. Then suddenly a portal opened up and there was this weird creature that I found out was one of the Ultra Beasts I have been hearing about.

After that escapade, it was on to Ula'ula Island where I battled Hau again, and this time his starter Torracat was possessing the mighty Firium Z and Inferno Overdrive! Then after some exploring and catching new Pokemon, it was time to get the Exeggutor Express to the next trial which was at the observatory on Mount Hokulani. During my training session, Brionne evolved into Primarina!

Inside the observatory, I met Molayne and his cousin, the Trial Captain Sophocles. With my Salazzle (who evolved since the last chapter) I was able to defeat the totem Vikavolt and earn the Electrium Z for the Z-Move Gigavolt Havoc which I gifted to my surfing Raichu. Molayne also gave me a Steelium Z which uses Corkscrew Crash.

Well, I guess I gotta meet up with Professor Kukui again.

    Current Team:
    Primarina (M) Lv38 - Rash, Torrent
    Raichu (F) Lv38 - Hardy, Surge Surfer
    Lycanroc (F) Lv37 - Quiet, Vital Spirit
    Salazzle (F) Lv37 - Brave, Corrosion
    Bewear (F) Lv36 - Mild, Fluffy
    Tsareena (F) Lv37 - Brave, Queenly Majesty

    Part 9: Ghosts and Skulls!

So, I did more traveling through the nature-filled areas of Ula'ula and I came across that girl named Acerola again, who is apparently a Trial Captain. My objective for her trial was going inside an abandoned supermarket and taking photos of Ghost-type Pokemon. I snapped shots of a Gastly, Haunter and Gengar before taking on the biggest threat of the trial, the totem Mimikyu who I heard was once known for being one of the biggest hurdles in a trial for Alolan Trainers.

I had my hope in Bewear to help me get past this trial, and thanks to the affection she received from my love and care she helped me pull through. I obtained the Ghostium Z which will now allow me to use the Ghost-type Z-Move Never-Ending Nightmare. Next, it was a trek through to Po Town which is a ghost town run by Team Skull. I infiltrated a mansion and had another showdown with the boss Guzma, complete with me obtaining a Buginium Z afterwards.

Finally, I returned to Aether House and then headed back to Malie City to prepare to set sail again, but then Acerola's uncle, a Dark-type specialist Nanu declared he was the Ula'ula Kahuna and battled me. Made some quick work of his team along with obtaining a Darkinium Z after the battle. Then me, Hau and Gladion traveled back to Aether Paradise hoping to search for Lillie and her Cosmog.

    Current Team:
    Primarina (M) Lv46 - Rash, Torrent
    Raichu (F) Lv45 - Hardy, Surge Surfer
    Lycanroc (F) Lv44 - Quiet, Vital Spirit
    Salazzle (F) Lv44 - Brave, Corrosion

Part 10: Plot Twist and Poni Island!

Picking up from last time, I went back to Aether Paradise with Hau and Gladion to search for Lillie. We were ambushed by Aether Foundation employees and Faba as an additional hurdle (in fact, had to battle him twice during this campaign). Sadly, Lillie wasn't found but I did read stuff about Ultra Beasts and Cosmog and heard that the two may be heavily connected.

Next, the Aether President Lusamine bragged on about her obsession with Ultra Beasts but I noticed her face was smirking. She wasn't the same innocent woman we met when we first came here! She decided that I was an obstacle to her and battled me, with me easily pulling off another win. Unfortunately she escaped into the Ultra Wormhole, with Guzma following her. We did see "Nebby" but it didn't look like a Cosmog anymore... instead it became what was known as Cosmoem.

After all those shenanigans, Lillie decided to show off a new look, showing more confidence in herself. Me and Lillie reunited with Hau and Gladion, setting sail for Poni Island. I then went to the ancient Poni ruins and met up with Hapu and her Mudsdale again, and I also got a Machamp joining my crew of Poke Riders.

    Current Team:
    Primarina (M) Lv50 - Rash, Torrent
    Raichu (F) Lv49 - Hardy, Surge Surfer
    Lycanroc (F) Lv48 - Quiet, Vital Spirit

Part 11: Rise Of The Moone

After conquering the final Kahuna of Alola, the newly-appointed Hapu, I trekked into the Vast Poni Canyon where I caught some new Pokemon (including Jangmo-o, a rare Dragon-type) and battled more trainers. Lillie followed me most of the way, except when I detoured to do an Island Trial which saw me encounter a totem Kommo-o, the fully-evolved stage of Jangmo-o. My Primarina made short work of the dragon with his powerful Moonblast.

Then I climbed the steps of the Altar of the Moone, where me and Lillie played the Sun and Moon Flutes. Lillie's Cosmoem, her little "Nebby" had emerged from her bag and with the power of the night, it became the legendary Pokemon Lunala! Lunala took us into the Ultra Space where we saw Guzma and Lusamine.

Lusamine however, while admiring her clan of Nihilego was absolutely pissed at her own daughter Lillie, and how she thought I changed Lillie completely. Drawing the power of Nihilego, Lusamine became a huge fearsome fusion of herself and Nihilego and battled me with her team packing powerful auras. However, it turned out my own team had a stronger bond and overwhelmed her, to the point of knocking herself out.

Leaving the Ultra Space back to the altar, Lusamine was taken by Guzma and Hapu's Mudsdale, while Hapu stood and praised me for my efforts. Lillie then asked Lunala what it wanted, and Lunala told her it wanted to continue traveling around Alola, but since Lillie wasn't a trainer, she knew she couldn't take it on adventures. That was Lillie asked Lunala to go with me so that it can continue to have adventures, and I caught it afterwards.

Next, I guess it's time to head up Mount Lanakila to take on the Pokemon League.

    Current Team:
    Primarina (M) Lv56 - Rash, Torrent
    Raichu (F) Lv55 - Hardy, Surge Surfer
    Salazzle (F) Lv55 - Brave, Corrosion
    Bewear (F) Lv54 - Mild, Fluffy

Lunala Lv55 - Naive, Shadow Shield

    Part 12: Alola's First Champion

I took on the Pokemon League here. First was Olivia, who was mainly handled by my trio of Rock killers - Primarina, Bewear and Tsareena. Unfortunately most of her team was packing Sturdy meaning I had to take some hard hits but at least I was glad to get her done.

Second member of the Elite Four I face is a Flying-type user named Kahili. Raichu did most of the work here, but Primarina did help out occasionally with his newly learned Ice Beam.

Next was Acerola, the Ghost-type user who I met earlier in the adventure. She put up quite a fight with that Sableye of hers, packing strong physical moves, along with her team being somehow obsessed with inflicting me with Confusion.

And finally, the first real tough trainer we faced, Hala. While his Poliwrath did my Raichu in with an untimely critical hit, Primarina cleaned things up with his Moonblast and other strong tools of his.

Then we faced the Champion, who turned out to be Professor Kukui, the person who mentored me throughout this whole adventure. Most of his team wasn't an issue, except for Magnezone who had the aforementioned Sturdy and was hitting me so damn hard. I then had the Hall of Fame to commemorate being Alola's first-ever Champion.

Back at Iki Town, everyone held a party to celebrate me becoming the new champion. Everyone who I met on my journey was there - Professor Kukui, Hau, Hala, Ilima, Mallow, Kiawe, Lana, Sophocles, Molayne, Professor Burnet, Hapu, Olivia, Lillie and of course Mom. Even Nanu and Gladion were there for a reason I'll never know.

After the festival, Lillie decided to take me to the ruins at the end of Mahalo Trail, back to the bridge where I saved Lunala, back when it was a wee little Cosmog. I then prepared for my next challenge which was to catch the Melemele island guardian - Tapu Koko. After so many balls being thrown, I managed to catch Tapu Koko after probably over 20 balls.

Well, that's the epilogue. Guess I'll be busy training up further and completing the Pokedex.

    Current Team:
    Primarina (M) Lv63 - Rash, Torrent
    Raichu (F) Lv62 - Hardy, Surge Surfer
    Lycanroc (F) Lv61 - Quiet, Vital Spirit

    Part 13: I Met a Mythical Pokemon

So, it's been weeks since I became the first Champion of the Alola region and now I spend my time buying more clothes, items and completing the Pokedex. But something interesting happened, and a visit to the antiques stall in Hau'oli City's Mall saw a man there say he somehow received a mysterious Pokemon called Magearna. I was wondering, what is Magearna? The man asked if I wanted to take it with me, knowing how capable of a trainer I can be towards such a rare Pokemon.

I eventually introduced myself to Magearna, and discovered it was a Pokemon that was made artificially many years ago, and it can fold itself into a spherical shape that resembles a Poke Ball. I wonder if the creator of this Pokemon was so obsessed with Poke Balls?

But it wasn't the only rare Pokemon I met today. There was reports of a Pokemon in Poni Meadow, a Bug/Grass-type known as Leavanny. I had never seen this Pokemon before, but apparently it's not native to Alola, as my Pokedex didn't seem to recognize it when I captured it.

Now that brings me to think... what other rare non-native species are roaming in Alola?
