i have a lil question about this powerful steel type move.

as we know, its power is decided apon the users speed, aswell as the targets speed.

    Base Power = 25 * (TargetSpeed / UserSpeed)

well, i was wondering, in a trick room scenario what would happen?

would it be the case where the speed calculations stay the same, so the pokemon with the lower speed (the one with gyro ball) goes first and gets that massive base power, or would it be decided with trick room in mind, so that the users speed would actually be quite high despite its low real base speed

in a normal situation, pokemon with the highest speed attacks first.
in a trick room, the user with the highest speed strikes last.

    the calcs stay the same.

    yes, i knew that much.

but what i mean is in trick room scenario, will the low speed and high speed (by default) stay the same in the calculation, or will the calculation calculate the speed with trick room in mind.

ie will the effects of gyro ball be reversed

Good question. Here says that it does come into effect - doesn't mention trick room directly, but I guess it has the same affect as the other speed-changing moves in that it affects the equation...

No harm in testing it though - just use Gyro Ball twice on the same opponent, once normal, second time when it is Paralysed. Magnezone comes to minds as a good candidate to test this gets both Thunder wave and Gyro ball. Then just waste a Trick Room TM and try that, before turning off so you don't waste the TM for good. :) ('Course one could clone a spare one).

Nope, gyro ball stays the same. Its a common misconception that it becomes really weak. All trick room does is reverse the order of play, the stats are not touched.

or i could clone one :)

thanks for offering though, also gofre thanks for the info =]

Trick Room does not do anything to change your speed stat or the opponents speed stat. Therefore, the power of Gyro Ball would be as if the dimensions weren't twisted. Trick Room + Gyro Ball is a common strategy for that reason.
