Flavoring

Your favorite flavor? Salty, sour, sweet, spicy, savory, bitter?

Mine is salty. I love the seasoning of vegetables in a lot of Asian foods. I am always up for some fried rice, spring rolls, noodle dishes like udon or Mei fun, vegetable wonton, seaweed salads, hot miso soups, sushi with soy sauce.

How about a least favorite?

I am crazy about food, and enjoy some foods in all of the flavor groups, but I will say that I don't crave overly sweet products too often. I avoid frostings, marshmallows, honey, jellies, dried fruits, preserves, things dripping in food dyes and every color, cream filled-desserts. I like sweet foods, but too much sugar, especially of the processed variety, can get nauseating for me.

What I can enjoy is the taste of simple, fresh fruit in season something like a wild strawberry, peach, cherries or watermelon from the market place. I will not say no to chocolate either, but that is naturally a bitter food though it's often sweetened, so it could be counted as bitter instead of sweet all depending.

What flavors turn you on an off?

I love spicy food! I love the warmness of garam masala and the hotness of the sriracha sauce. Spices improve food in many ways, and I utilize them in my cooking very often. I'm also fond of savory food. Most of my favorite foods tend to be savory, as dinner is the most important meal of the day for me.

I don't have a least favorite flavor because I think that all flavors can be great in their own ways! I just think that they have to be prepared correctly.

Spicy -> Sweet -> Savory -> The rest
Salty shit dries my mouth out, it's like what I imagine eating sand to be.

savory and salty i've always tended to classify as one flavor, but maybe it's bcs all the savory foods i've eaten have had some saltiness to them lol. i think they're tied at first place for me with sweet being second. i used to be able to handle super sweet stuff, but yeah now overly sugary foods is just no bueno anymore.

least fave would have to be a dead tie between spicy and bitter. i got literally zero tolerance for the former and the latter just makes me puke lmao. absolutely cannot stand to eat something like a bitter gourd, which is a common ingredient to delicacies here. if it was the only food lying 'round, i'd rather starve for a bit than eat it. that's how much i hate its taste.

I have such a huge sweet tooth which makes desserts and chocolate irresistible to me! I don't like sickly sweet, or a sweetness that is too sharp (like some fruits). Nor do I enjoy soft drinks because most are way too sugary and really unhealthy. But offer me a piece of cake, or a sweet pastry, or a doughnut, or chocolate-dipped strawberries—anything like that, and you'll win me over! It's a miracle I stay relatively slim. 😅

Salty/savoury is also nice but only when subtle, otherwise too much salt makes me ill for days.

My least favourites... spicy and bitter. I cannot tolerate nor stand most spices (unless it's like cinnamon or ginger), they don't clear me up they just congest me, and burn a hole in my stomach. :( As for bitter, I can't even eat bitter chocolate, as bitterness just makes me gag!

Sweet, I love sweet foods.

When I was younger I just tolerated everything else. LOL

Only in recent years have I really started fully appreciating savory and spicy foods.

I like sweet the most and salty second (and sweet and salty combined! chef's kiss) I love sugar and will eat almost any sugary thing, unless it's brightly/unnaturally colored (like blue ice cream). Salty is good too, unless it is overly salty. Then it makes me thirsty. I don't particularly care for sour, bitter, or spicy. I too don't tolerate spice well
