Yuppers, I've got a Wartortle, lvl 38. It's been bothering me that I don't want him to evolve, because naturally, Pokemon evolve. So, anyone else have trouble deciding whether or not to let your Pokemon evolve?

Another question, does Wartortle essentially get the same moves as Blastoise as it continues to level up? I really don't like Blastoise, but right now, my Wartortles moves are pretty crappy. I need opinions. :]

Wartortle will learn the same moves as Blastoise, just earlier.

    ^ What he said.
But also bear in mind that if you do decide to evolve Wartortle, its stats will increase greatly.

It will learn the same moves as Blastoise but earlier, but it will have lesser stats. If you ever have this sort of question again; I would recommend look up both Pokemon on Bulbapedia.Bulbgarden.net. It's really helpful.

I was actually just looking for other opinions... kinda. Like, would you let it evolve? That kind of thing. But, I decided not to let him evolve, so he's holding an everstone now. :>

I my opinion I would Evolve, but later, remove the everstone at about Lv.45, I did my Wartortle around then since he had learned the best moves by then.
Tbh, it's your decision but IMO Blastoise is so much better than Wartortle, not just in Stats or moves but in looks, he's got that wierd podgy cuteness XD.
Well, it looks like you've decided but that was my attempt as Dissuading you, good luck w/e you do.

Make sure it does not ahve any items on. If it has the Everstone, it won`t ever evolve; try taking the hold item (if it has) and then level it up

I usually evolve Pokemon straight away; I find that the increased stats are more useful than earlier moves. The only exceptions are Pokemon that evolve by stones, which don't learn moves after evolving, and Pokemon which get moves their evolved forms don't (for example, Vigoroth learns Reversal and Focus Punch, while Slaking doesn't). And obviously Pokemon whose unevolved forms have some kind of advantage in battle (the aforementioned Vigoroth has a better ability; two others I haven't evolved are Pikachu and Clamperl, who get items which boost their stats).

Well, I'm all up for evolution. There are exceptions, I wouldn't let certain Pokemon evolve 'cause I can't stand their evolution ('specially if it has a 'stash).

I tend to evolve them to the nearest 10. So say it should evolve at 16, I'll put the evolution off until level 20. I really don't know why though.

I usually hold off evolving my Pokemon 20 - 30 levels.

I always have the urge to evolve right away but also because I have a collecting problem I'd probably end up with all evolutions of a Pokemon anyway through breeding in the games it allows it.

You're like me! The only difference in moves that can be learned are the TMs and move tutor moves. Everything else should be learned earlier, just like everyone else has mentioned. I also don't like evolving Nidorina, Nidorino, and a few others. Blastoise is too bulky for me, so nyeh. I don't tend to use it a lot. I blame the Red/Blue sprite. He can't even hold his shell on his back.

Better stats > early moves and 'cute' design anyday.

...the obvious exception being stone evolutions...

Better stats > early moves and 'cute' design anyday

Well, I'd rather have something cute rather than something that can't hold its own weight. But hey, Red/Blue Wartortle looked like it didn't even know how to fight. Oh well. Blastoise is just bulky and makes me feel uncomfortable. Nidoking/Queen I don't have a problem with, I just like the middle evos better. That and I like a challenge.

my little brother didn't let his piplup evolve untill level 45 and his prinplup just evolved at level 81. and my heatran beat him. i always wait 5-10 levels before i let them evolve. and never use stones on a level 1. they suck when you try to level them up post evolution.

No i would not have let him evolved because i always like to keep them in 1st/2nd stage becaause once they go to 3rd evolution they turn all mean looking
i will never evolves my pikachu!
