4kids TV to end 12/27/08

I remember the old days on Fox Kids, tuning in to watch Digimon and Power Rangers and just sit in front of the TV. Ah, memories...

But that turned to crap eventually. It's a shame 4Kids will still be around ruining Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's now (I wish Konami, now that they took the merchandising rights from UDE, would pull the license like Toei did for One Piece), and not releasing any uncuts for it. That's really my only problem with them, though. If they'd pull through and release uncuts on DVD like they started to for DM, the dub would be more bearable (wouldn't stop people from thinking it sucks, though, given what 4Kids did to the whole brand).

And it's a shame that FOX won't replace the block with cartoons, because kids today would be missing out on a big thing from back when we were kids. I mean, sure, they've got the CW4Kids to watch for that, but let's face it: it's 4Kids. It's just not the same.

They also have Cartoon Network, Nick, and Disney. If they don't have anything but basic televison, they have CBS, NBC, and ABC to enjoy as well.

Yes, but Cartoon Network is crap now. Kids are going to slowly become the brainless things that the media have wanted them to be soon if this keeps up

Oh, yeah, I forgot about them, lol. Well, Nick's always been alright, save for switching a few shows around, but I think most of the others are decent enough. Although it would be nice for them, save for CN, to air some anime to introduce the kids to the genre, like the way 4Kids, admittedly, did for us.

That's why there are 5 other networks that I named.

Animé isn't a genre though. Nothing is listed as animé, they're listed as Action, Romance, Fantasy, etc. Anyway, they already do air animé but I don't want to argue with anyone right now.

true, but two of those networks aren't that good either. MUCH Better than CN, yes, but still they dont have much.....though the others are okay, even if they are mostly small mini versions of Disney...unless kids like real shows, like....meh, I'm too lazy to name them but I think you get my point.

It would really be helpful to get your point across if you name the networks that you're talking about when you say mini-Disney or that they're much better than CN, though. But I will say that live action brings in ratings for Disney and Nick.

CBS, NBC, and ABC. ABC has the ABC Kids block every Saturday, and it is also owned by Disney. Only it has another problem- everytime it starts another show that isnt on ABC Kids that might be good, they cancel it soon after, with the exception of LOST. And CBS and NBC....well, I dont get NBC (curse my cablelessness, stupid antenna...), but last I checked neither had good kids shows. Like I said, last I checked...things could have changed without my knowing.

As for the better than CN- Nick, Disney....others along those lines. CN is just...crap now except for Pokemon, Naruto, and Adult Swim, so just about anything is better than CN nowadays.

Well, ABC usually gets in 2nd place for their ratings for non cable.

Well, I agree with this for the most part.

Actually, I like ABC, I just dont like how they cancel shows that might be good and never give them a chance before they cancel them, and keep stupid shows...except LOST, which is awesome. But we're here to talk about 4kids, so lets move on, shall we?

Yes. So next Saturday is going to be its last week and then we get only Sonic X and Chaotic: M'arrillion Invasion moving to the new block.

One thing that I think people often forget is that anime isn't censored just because 4Kids are a bunch of dicks, they're censored because the companies in Japan want to get their shows aired on U.S. television in any way possible. The fact of the matter is, America is a far more conservative country than Japan, and a lot of the content in anime isn't what most Americans think is acceptable to be shown on television. It all comes down to economics: Japan needs the US viewers to make a profit, so how Americans decide to dub is what goes. If shows like DBZ and YGO weren't censored, they just wouldn't be able to turn a profit in the states.

Then why do shows such as Death Note or Naruot go uncensored? The more likely reason would be because of either the FCC or the fact that they want to. It seems to be a little bit of both to be honest. I mean you you don't usually erase Japanese on shows because of standards do you? These days, it appears that they leave languages such as Chinese and Arabic on the shows. That's why even on tv shows that 4Kids makes comes off tame because of the FCC ruling basic television. Would they do the same thing if they had the block on a cable network such as Cartoon Network? Who knows? The fact is that we do know what we have right now.

Munky D. Luffy is happy!

No longer shall our precious anime's have to be dicriminated!

Oh good lord! The Sonic series may need voice actors, but hell I LIKE Griffith's Sonic voice.

I'm buying the drinks!

again- 4kids IS NOT going away, just the block on Fox. Its moving to CW. So yes, 4kids can still muder anime, as they are doing to Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's at this very moment.

There's already the the CW4Kids, thing.. so yeah, what redjacketalchemist said.

They'll still be around to torture our beloved shows. ;~;

The normal Fox block leaving isn't even a bump in their road really.

Thank God I'm not into Yu-Gi-Oh! anymore. And let's pray they don't get the rights to KHR.

KHR...wazzat? I'm drawing a blank...
I thibnk 4kids did a okay job with the first series of YGO, but...when GX started, it just went downhill. I was praying 4kids wouldnt get 5D's as awesome as the Japanese version is, but I should have known they would >.>

Hatekyo Hitman Reborn!(KHR). I doubt they would be able to do much with that Anime. Hibari's personality alone would be downgraded by a lot.
