Suggestion: 3DS Friend Codes

I was just wondering if it was possible to implement something for the 3DS friend codes, much like we have for PSN, XBL, Wii and Steam IDs, shown below:

The reason for this, is because the 3DS is be bought more by the members of the community, I imagen, and there have already been people wanting to pass them onto to others. Due to the rules of VG, you can't post a thread where you can pass them on, you have to PM/VM them to someone, so would it be possible to just add another option onto the Gamer Information for the 3DS?​

You'd be surprised, people still make threads that are like "lol lets exchange frand codez 4 da wii!1!!" But it would be useful either way.

I would support this as well.
The only problem that I can think of, is there would then be 11 eligible icons (including things like Skype, MSN and so on) that could appear on a users forum profile. Could be too cluttered if a user has all of them filled out.

However, I haven't seen one user with all of them filled out yet! XD​

I went ahead and added a function to share your 3DS friend code. Just go to the Edit Profile page and enter it along with your Steam/XBL/PSN info. :] It'll appear in the "Contact" tab of your profile as well as in your posts next to your IM names.

One bit of feedback I would say is the icon looks squished, would it be possible to change that maybe?

Very nice, though I agree that the icon does need work. Good to hear that you will be changing it.

However, this seems a little too passive; there doesn't seem to be any system in place for notifying you if someone enters your Friend Code. If there was, then if someone enters your Friend Code, you could know who it is and register theirs.

Perhaps the way this could be done is that after registering the FC, you click on the 3DS icon and that brings up a confirmation prompt. Then, when "Yes" is selected, it sends out a notice to the other user telling them that you registered them and showing them your FC. The swapping of FCs would go so much quicker and would stay private, and doesn't require writing a PM every time you request someone to register you.

The new logo looks good, I'm so glad you changed it the other one looked well ew. I've entered mine now. Wingman's idea is one I support also. Maybe we could do it with the other FCs also.

I know GBAtemp has a really nice icon.

Just flip around the 3 on the top and I'd like that, if others will.

To be honest, I really like this logo better. It's a 3D cube, and it's reminiscent of the Nintendo 64's 3D "N" cube logo, which was Nintendo's first home console to go into 3D. The current 3DS logo, IMO, might be mistaken for the DS instead at first glance, despite the red that the 3DS is associated with being used.

For the logo I quoted, making the "3" red, and the "DS" black would be a little more evocative of the actual 3DS logo... Just my two cents. Regardless of the logo, I'm grateful that this 3DS Friend Code is at least getting implemented by the staff, though. :) (EVEN THOUGH I DON'T EVEN HAVE A DS OR A 3DS YET, SO TECHNICALLY THIS IS OF NO CONCERN TO ME BUT WHATEVS T_T)

Also, like vaporeon7 suggested, perhaps this feature could be implemented to all forms of FCs/Gamer Tags. It wouldn't help me at all (I only have a 3DS, lol), but I think it'd be pretty useful for others who do have those nice things.

Of course, I have no idea how complex that would be, so I'll just stop talking before I suggest something impossible. XD
