2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver

USA! USA! USA!

I just want to know, why in the world is curling a sport? I don't understand it at all. Someone, 'splain it.

As much as curling gives me a good laugh while I watch it, I still find it really enjoyable. When it was on earlier in the week I actually just sat on the couch and watched the whole men's and women's tournament.

If your talking rule-wise then the object is pretty much to get your stone closest to the middle as possible. If not that then you can try to knock out the other team's stones with your stones. It reminds me of bocce if you know what I'm talking about.

Anyways waiting for the final six figure skaters to get on the ice is killing me. Watching cross country skiing while I wait makes me physically tired. The fact that the athletes looks completely worn out the whole way through makes me wonder as to why anyone would find that fun.

n_n Figure skating pretty much just ended. That Korean in first place was amazing.

It's not so bad. It's kind of boring to watch if you don't really know what's going on (or care about the teams), imo, but now I don't mind it. Point is to get your rock as close to the middle of the rings as you can.
Now I personally absolute love the Olympics, and I'm feeling totally patrioric about them. Except that apparentely the Canadians where swearing at you Americans or something, that's what friends on LJ told me anyways. I was too lazy to look into it, is it ture?
Um, I don't know about literally swearing at them (like crowds in Vancouver doing it or something D:) but we've been cursing the US since we lost to 'em in men's hockey the other day. :( But we're back in the standings from our little detour so we've dealt with it, lmao.

That Korean was amazing, I feel that the American that ended up 4th was sscored way too low for my liking. I don't understand the downgrades of the jumps or w/e

And I know I've been cursing at those Americans. However the rumor I heard was crowds in Vancouver actually swearing at them, which is poor sportsmanship </3

Yeah, I thought she was going to push Rochette out of third and I was really surprised when she didn't. I'm not complaining, though. I'm so glad Rochette got a medal. ;~; She was so brave to go out there both times and all things considered, she did amazingly.

It doesn't totally surprise me that they were being dicks on the street in Vancouver but I'm ashamed to be associated with it anyway. *sigh* ;;

Rochette did a wonderful job, her routine was beautiful. I definitely agreed with the medal standings tonight, Yuna Kim was spectacular.

Although I was really surprised that Rachael Flatt didn't get a higher score =\

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with how the women's skating long routine ended up. As for Flatt, one of the commentators I've heard said something about triple toes (or whatever variety those jumps are) weren't given as much value, so that's why all those spins didn't end up with a higher score apparently. And Yu-na beat the competition by a long shot for sure (~228pts vs ~207pts for Japan).

Huh, did I miss something? I thought everybody was supporting Rochette after her unfortunate tragedy...

Kim Yu-na was amazing. There was never any doubt in my mind that Kim and Asada would take gold and silver. I wasn't sure who'd get which and I thought it was going to be much closer though. This is one of those times when the winner really deserves the gold.

Yeah. Way to be good sports, Canadian women. Drinking alcohol AND smoking on the ice? That shows you're GREAT sports. (SARCASM).
@_@ I don't see how that makes them bad sports? Well, I guess you could say celebrating on the rink like that is a bit rude and it should be confined to dressing rooms/public areas but... I thought the big deal was that some of the ones drinking were underage. :s I know one of the team members was 18 and iirc the drinking age in BC is 19 so... not very smart of them. XD;

I was so happy with all the ice skating medalists. I loved all of there performances and I felt like all of them deserved their medals. I even got a little teary eyed when Kim Yu-Na cried during the anthem. ...I'm dumb like that. :3

Bad start for the Fins so far. (3-0, 1st)
Hopefully they can make a come back to make this a really good game.

I got some good news for both of you. Great Britain has won a Gold Medal in Skeleton. Also Apolo Ohno has won his seventh career gold medal.

I was up watching that live :3
Watching these sports is actually quite addictive, I'm missing out on so much sleep, if I fail my GCSE's I'm blaming the Olympic comity for having the games in a place with a massive timezone difference to mine, 4 years ago I watched pretty much the whole thing without losing out on 70% of my sleep xD

All I know for now is that Team USA's leading with 34 medals, followed by Germany with 27 and Canada with 21.
In the terms of gold medals, Canada's got the most, 10.

Good luck everyone! :3

Whoa, a lot of things happening already. Canada got two more gold medals, one in a snowboarding event, and the other in a men's team speedskating event. Really hoping Kevin Martin and co. gets one for curling too.

I think if Canada wins gold tomorrow in hockey (since I don't think we have any chance in cross-country x_x), we'll break the record of most gold medals won in a single Winter Olympic Games. Even if we don't, we've still tied the Soviet Union/Norway for most golds won... and that's pretty impressive if you consider we'd never won a single gold medal on home soil before this year. XD;

I'm proud of our curling guys! :D I watched the last 6 ends and was a little nervous when Norway and those hideous pants caught up to make it 3-2 for us but we came through. n_n;

Looking forward to hockey tomorrow! It'll be a great game no matter who takes home the gold.

But man, can't believe the games are almost over.
