  • You aren't really explaining yourself much here. How is it dumb? They are both attacking fighting at their limit. So yeah they are going to do everything they can to win.

This is not video games. The game mechanic has never had an impact on the anime,

  • I disagree with the title. If anything, Ash becoming a world champion and the best in the world is the greatest thing that has ever happened in the anime and it is something that should have happened a very long time ago. Also, moves in the anime don't always function like they do in the video games.

Exactly it is like the video games but worse because the anime showed that it is not shackled to the games such as Esperon Versus Pikachu. Ash never got his real potential to be someone other than mostly like all the pokemon trainers. He didn't deserve the win. This win was so like many other anime battles- the dust made the win. Opponents hit and there is no sense to decide who wins. The dust won this pokemon championship.

Me personally, I feel that if the main character isn't winning when it counts, it's a waste of a character.

Yep! The anime always was neat about this and is why I liked it. I am glad they did something different, honestly.

They aren't doing anything clever in tactics nor doing something where the viewer can understand how the resolution of the conflict should work.

When has that ever been a thing in pokemon? It is called Plot Armor that Ash has had for the last few seasons after having none when it first started. The resolution of conflict was, Charizard ran out of steam first and Pikachu was able to stand. It has always been like that in the pokemon anime.

This is a child's show I am sorry to inform you. They are not going to put advanced tactics to explain why something happened. It is like this with every anime aimed at children.

  • Ash always has done "dumb" things though... Remember Thunder Armor? It's just plot armor. He's a kid, so I really don't find anything "wrong" with the headbutt thing. The anime takes many liberties, so.

No its not like that with every anime aimed at kids. Avator- Last Airbender is much more interesting. Children can absolutely handle battles with some sort of tactics. No advanced tactics are possible in the anime.

Avatar The Last Airbender was made in the United States. It was aimed at older kids. Much like many of the shows on Nick that did not come on during the day. Japan is also completely different.

Pokemon is aimed at 4 to 8 year olds while Last Airbender is aimed at 10 to 15. Not only that, but they are VASTLY different regions. They couldn't even show the kiss between Serena and Ash because of the ages it was aimed at as confirmed by the creator of pokemon himself. Yet here in the US that could show a kiss between Aang and Katara. The only shows that would be on par to Pokemon in the US would be Spongeball, Dora, Diego, Paw Patrol all in which are learning shows. Pokemon is not.

Ash's tactic has always been to react to what is happening and to use whatever means to win.

If children can't handle using tactics like dodge then the shows writers have lost them already.
