Oh, yeah. You would be better off with a second-hand one or a refurbished one. But, you can weigh your options. If you send it in to Nintendo, they will fix it to their standards, and will fix it up to a state in which it looks and feel new. They also add another year of warranty at no cost. When I got my DSi back, there was not one scratch, and the hinge was perfect. Besides the cost, that does sound good. But, you can get one that is refurbished, could break soon, and has no warranty- but you get it alot faster. It mostly comes down to preference.
