Simply put, Zoo Tycoon is a series of games that let you create and run your very own zoo. From creating exhibits to caring for animals, constructing eateries to managing staff, these games let you be as creative as you'd like whilst building the zoo of your dreams. Not the most creative person out there? Then you can take on the challenging campaign scenarios to save run-down zoos or fulfil certain missions and earn the rank of the best zoo director out there. Add on the expansion packs to let you create nature reserves, run your own marine shows, and even let you dig for dinosaur fossils and revive them, and this game gives you a fully diverse and limitless experience.

I much enjoyed the original Zoo Tycoon and its expansions way back when. I didn't enjoy the sequel too much though

I used to play Zoo Tycoon 2 all the time! I still have it on my PC :3
I also have the original, but I don't like it as much. I usually did the sandbox mode because I was terrible with the scenarios. I had all the expansions for the sequel and I had an all-in-one CD for the original. I remember hiring loads of staff members and occasionally setting my animals loose and scare all of my guests :P Sometimes I would put a small fence in front of the entrance and fill the entire zoo with creatures of the same biome and let them roam free. My favorite expansion was second Marine Mania. I loved swimming in the tanks with all of my sea creatures and performing shows with them for my guests. My favorite animals were the Dromedary Camel, Emperor Penguin, Hippopotamus, Nile Crocodile, Galapagos Giant Tortoise, Wolverine, Komodo dragon, Elephant Bird, Giant Ground Sloth, almost every second Marine Mania species, and many others.

Oh i loved this game back when i was young, but i was evil setting every animal loose and watch them hunt the visitors down xD

Loved this game when I was younger. I remember playing this for hours making random zoos and also bought all the expasion packs. I bought the DS version but it was in no way as good as the original which was a disappointment. I never find many games like this ow which is a annoying, Wish they would bring out more games like this to play.

I used to absolutely LOVE Zoo Tycoon, its sequel and its many, many expansion packs. What The Sims was for a lot of people my age, Zoo Tycoon was for me: that gateway into other PC, relatively open-plan games. I loved all of the animals, coming up with enclosures for them, making sure that they were well-fed and didn't die. My favourite expansion packs were the water one and the dinosaur one, even though my favourite animal was the okapi. Indeed, it's thanks to Zoo Tycoon that I even know what an okapi is, and now it's one of my favourite animals!

Now I'm getting waves and waves of nostalgia... be right back, seeing if it's available for Mac! :D
