Your favorite Pokémon that would make bad pets

Dunsparce might get startled and dig a hole through the floor/furniture.

Water-types like Wartortle, Kingdra, Omanyte, and Lapras honestly need a home with a pool or large aquarium, or one located near a decent-size body of water. Can't have them splashing around the bathroom most of the time (not that Kingdra or Lapras would even fit in a typical bathtub).

Luxio could potentially electrocute me, and those claws could probably do more damage than your typical domestic cat. However, a kind-natured Luxio could probably make a decent pet. Wouldn't want to have as many cat Pokémon as we have actual cats though bc imagine the food and litter. @_@

Flareon has the potential to burn the house down, but it's probably less likely than 'mon whose flames are constantly exposed. It could make an excellent cuddle buddy in winter or when sick.

Mothim would probably get dust everywhere. We've got enough of that. Would probably benefit from having more space to stretch its wings, too. Also wouldn't make for a long-lasting pet if its lifespan is any comparison to real moths (I know that some of Venomoth's entries mention its short lifespan).

Alolan Sandslash might accidentally impale me. Or slice off a limb with those massive claws (same goes for regular Sanslash and Sneasel).

Leafeon would be an ideal pet. Doesn't even need that much food when it can photosynthesize in the window. Probably the best option here.

Shedinja doesn't eat, making it affordable to keep as a pet. Let's just hope that the 'dex entries about it stealing souls are nothing more than made-up ghost stories.

Lickitung licking things and leaving them dripping with smelly, mildly toxic saliva is probably a no...

Might as well use the Pokemon Picker list.

  • Espeon: Probably okay, but quite large for a pet. Measures about as tall as a big St. Bernard (although much lighter).
  • Starmie: Not good. Needs enough water.
  • Torracat: Bad. Easily sets everything on fire. Apparently scratches its trainer a lot too. Bets on more than just that.
  • Luxray: Searched how big a tiger is: 2.6 - 3.6 feet. Lists Luxray at 4 feet, 7 inches. Considers that really dangerous. Sleeps a lot, on the plus side. Reduces the danger a little.
  • Glaceon: Probably too warm for an Ice type here.
  • Meowscarada: Terrible with other pets. Acts jealous if the trainer gives attention to other Pokemon. Would be terrible for people with certain pollen allergies too.
  • Totodile: Bites everything you ever loved. Really hurts too. Also, another Water type wanting water.
  • Decidueye: Probably okay? Needs plenty of space to fly around. Worries about it flying into power lines.
  • Steelix: Where are you putting this Pokemon? Measures about 30 feet (9.2 meters) and 881.8 pounds (400 kilograms). How do you feed this thing?
  • Iron Moth: Probably burns everything.

I'll stick to the common Pokemon that are my faves, I don't think legendaries would ever consider themselves 'pets' lol.

Absol- The risks of having one as a pet are worth living with, I just love this Pokemon too much.

Weavile- Considering the razor sharp claws and its general 'trickster' temperment, I'm not sure keeping one IRL as a pet would be a good idea lol.

Meowscarada- As someone who already has to deal with a very jealous kitty, I'm pretty used to it by now. The only thing that might be tough for me to handle with it is getting enough food for it due to its size. But hopefully it can do some photosynthesis to get nutrients that way lol.

Luxray- I would have to get a calm one that got along well with my Absol, but otherwise I'm pretty used to bigger animals.

Gardevoir- I personally have a very hard time considering a Gardevoir as a pet lol.

Sableye- Oh no way lol. The last thing I need is a little gremlin running around pocketing all my stuff.

Mimikyu- Also no way. I'd be way too curious about looking at it. Plus the eyes on the doll would FREAK ME OUT if I woke up in the night and saw them staring at me lol.

Tyrantrum- 0_0 It's a very literal dinosaur, probably not the best pet lmao.

Ninetales- Waaay too temperamental. "Very smart and very vengeful. Grabbing one of its many tails could result in a 1,000-year curse." Yeah, pass lol.

I really like Yanmega, but it would be a terrible pet considering it's taller then me and the Pokedex states that its "wingbeats are so powerful that the Pokémon blows down huge trees nearby when it vigorously launches itself into flight". That doesn't sound good for my house's structural integrity.

I like Giratina, but it's way too big to keep as a pet. The same goes for most other huge Pokemon that'd need lots of space to live in.

Aurorus would just flat out not fit in my house lol
Alolan Ninetales... won't forgive anyone who harms nature and will freeze anyone who angers it.... good thing I'm already an ice type huh? =P
Meowscarada... would probably get me arrested for blowing stuff up lol
Delcatty... would probably constantly be away from home. I'd have to keep searching for it xD
Mamoswine... not gonna fit and could accidentally impale me on it's tusks.
Espathra. Supposedly has a vicious temperament.

1. Cradily: It secretes strong digestive from it's tentacles, what will happen if I touch it by mistake ?

2. Drapion: it's clawed arm can turn turn the car to scrap, definitely risky to keep it around our car !

3. Rhyperior: The moving and living Rock Mortar, need to make sure I don't make it upset.

4. Dusknoir: It catches radio signal from antenna to take people to world of spirits. Wow, now that's real horror in the house.

5. Ferrothorn: They attach themselves at top of ceiling and dropping needles. What if, by mistake, needles fall on me ?

6. Tyrantrum: Nothing could stop this Pokémon 100 million years ago, neither it can be stopped by me after that much time, if it goes rampage.

7. Toxapex: Intense pain for three days and three nights, and then aftereffects of the poison from it. So touch it many times and get holiday regularly.

8. Pheromosa: it refuses to touch anything, so will it just float ?

9. Centiskorch: it can get heat upto 1500°C, I can't survive it as my resistance to heat is till 50-55°C only.

10. Hatterene: Need to make sure that environment at home is silent and not too loud. Reminds a little bit of military schools, but we are not torn apart for these mistakes.

Sneasel is misbehaved, they'd be a terrible pet.

Litwick is a death candle. They would be a bad pet, lol. I'd be dead very quickly!

Malamar is evil... that's not pet material.

Voltorb/Electrode are literally electrified bombs that could go off without warning.

Persian apparently must accept you as worthy of being its "master," otherwise it won't like you and may attack.

Fire-types would end up burning my house down. Meanwhile, Electric-Types often shock (even accidently) their trainers a lot in the TV series.

Feebas is just so ugly, based off of the Pokedex entry, I may not even interact with it

Hydreigon, "bites anything that moves," so... I feel like that may not be the best Pokemon to have as a pet. It also says there have been stories of Hydreigon destroying entire cities xD

Charlizard, my favourite Pokemon, will not make a good pet. It will probably burn my house down.
