You know from the G/S/C series, and how should it be handled if it does happen (which I know would be unlikely). Personally I would have it in another universe than the current show, it would start with Ethan, Lyra, and an original character (preferably based off of Vincent) getting their starter Pokemon, and they would get the same starters as Jimmy, Marina, and Vincent. These three would travel together like Ash, Misty, and Brock.

Of course the first episode would be about getting to and back from Mr. Pokemon's house to get the egg and what they run into along the way, specifically Silver in all of his greatness. Basically after Ethan and crew get their starter Pokemon Professor Elm prepares the next batch of starters for the next beginning trainer but they all get stolen by Silver.

Another rival that Ethan would have is Kris who would be a completely different character than Lyra because Kris always looked wholly different than Lyra to me. I would like this show to have a much deeper and complex storyline than the current show. It would mainly focus on the Rivalry between Silver and Ethan and their different views on Pokemon, and have Silver be somewhat of an Anti Hero.

I would like Ethan's personality to be like Gold's from the Manga, he would be immature and Rash with a devil may care attitude which contrasts with Silver's hard edged dark personality. I would also like him to eventually transverse all of the regions as Ash has starting with Johto, the Kanto, then Hoenn, and you get the picture.

I would have the main bad guys in the first season be Proton, Ariana, Archer ect. And the bad guy in the Second season would be Geovonni himself returning from isolation from being beaten by Red. As for Ethan's final team of Pokemon for Johto I'd like him to have.

    Typhlosion- his starter
Politoed- the first Pokemon he captures as a Poliwag
Pichu- followed Ethan from the Ilex forest
Gyarados- Ethan would have a blue one while Silver would capture the red one of the Lake of Rage
Umbreon- released by Silver as an Evee because it wouldn't evolve into an Umbreon do to Silver's harsh treatment of it, of course it's happiness would max out under Ethan
Venosaur- Professor Oak would give a Kanto starter each to Eathan and crew

So what do you think? How would you handle it?

If they were going to create another Universe I think it would be more sensible if they started from Kanto and then worked their way through. Giovanni is being introduced in Johto doesn't sit well with me. I'd want to know what exactly happened between him and Red and where the hell this great Red is. And if they are going to do an alternate universe, then I don't see that they would need to go the route of doing traveling partners, but just having the characters as reoccurring often. And shoot Typhlosion and Venusaur o_O. I think it would be better if they stuck with the starters of the region for that regions characters.

They already have a cartoon with a character based off of Red, that would be the current cartoon with Ash, the whole point is for Ethan to be the star. The reason it's in another universe is because I can't see this working after the whole Raikou Legend of Thunder thing, and May had a Venosaur and a Wartortle and she was from Hoenn.

I'm in the middle of re-watching the Legend of Thunder and was just thinking of this! I'd really enjoy a new show focusing on Ethan. I found him (well, Kenta/Jimmy) to be a much more enjoyable character than Ash. A deeper, better storyline would probably get me to start watching Pokémon anime again. I'd still prefer it to remain in the same universe as the "regular" anime, that way they could give Ash some nifty cameo appearances so he can get owned. I also don't see a problem tying this in with the Legend of Thunder, I think it would fit in quite well.

    tl;dr

Another universe? The world of Pokemon is another universe!

Well, them tying it in with legend of thunder is most likely but my idea wouldn't tie in so well with it. Whatever, I'd just be happy to see this in one form or another as long as they don't screw it up.

And they have already had a character based off Gold, that was Jimmy. So whats your point? They can have two counterparts of Gold but why not of Red? And you already referred to Red in your alternate universe since he beat Giovanni. So your just going to ignore his adventure and jump into a new one?

Let me make sure I am understanding this right. So you want an alternate series where Ethan is the main protagonist, and goes from region to region and so on? If that is the case that would get just as boring and old as the current one. It would be just a different character, different story to an extent but the same thing at the end of the day. Now if they had the character progress and add new characters and have the older ones make cameos, but still have a role then that one be one thing. But if it is a repeat of Ash but a different character I don't see that working at all.

Okay has Jimmy had his own TV series? Has Jimmy even appeared outside of Legend of Thunder? No? Okay then. And it would be a much deeper story than Ashes with more complex characters. Ashes story is old because every Pokemon episode had the same formula, Ash meets new Pokemon, Team Rocket steals it, and Ash rescues it.

Jimmy is still a counterpart none the less. And how would it be much more deeper and complex? I still don't see why they would start a new series from Generation II. They can start from Kanto make the character Red(yes different from Ash, more tendencies of Red then Ash) then after Red main story is over the story shifts to Ethan, Kris, Vincent or don't even include Vincent and have the final starter stolen by Silver. And if they were going to make this new series it would have made a whole lot more sense to start it around the time of HGSS in Japan so they could milk it for it's market value while it was hot. Again are you suggesting the series is going to be a prolonged one focusing on mainly Ethan? Because if that's the case eventually it will have the same recycled storylines and fillers as the main series.

    "You rock, you rule!"

That line is stuck in my head with the mention of Ethan/Jimmy from Raikou Legend of Thunder... had to say it.

Back on topic, the idea is alright, but I feel that it would be fine simply following the current anime storyline. Lyra is already traveling with someone, mentioned in a D/P episode I forgot the title of, and it could include him instead.

Do not have traveling companions that share the exact personality as the previous ones. It's just boring, that's why the current show changes it up a bit (and to promote the new characters...).

Also the main ideal for a new parallel anime would be so that it has a difference versus the current one. Your descriptions of Ethan are almost exactly what Ash is like, while his rivalry with Silver is also a near duplicate Ash's rivalry with Paul. Even the Umbreon thing is the Ash's Infernape scenario.

If the you wanted a more deeper show and a more complex show, then have variety in what they do. The Pokemon world has great variety, it's just that the current anime can simply show slices of the whole picture. Why not have Ethan attempt to take down Team Rocket as his goal, rather than the typical "I wanna be the very best," ordeal. Or do, what Kenshin said, have older characters make cameos so that viewers would know this is in the future.

This looks like a large mixture of the anime, game, and Pokemon Special manga combined into one... thing. They can compare well to each other, but they also have a great number of contrasts and it can end up being a hot mess.

Again I repeat, the point of this is to make a story out of Ethan, two episodes about Jimmy and Raikou are not a series. I would have liked this series to have started around the time of HG/SS but that time has passed. And what do you mean how will it be deeper and more complex? The characters would be more fleshed out, the stories would all have meaning, and the dialogue wouldn't make you wan't to shoot yourself like the current show, think the 90's X men show in quality. Also there are like what five regions? That's five seasons, five seasons are nothing, alot of shows have gone 8 seasons and turned out great. As for Red's role, he would be the heralded champion that Ethan idolizes and wants to be like, he would only be spoken of until he finally shows up, and since this is loosely based off of Gold and Silver there would be no reason for Red's story to be told.

It's a good idea but I'd prefer it more to be based off Max, finally reached 10 years and starting out on his journey wanting to revisit Kanto after not seeing the gyms whilst there with Ash, Brock and May. It'll be similar to Ash with the Ralts not being a traditional starter but the writers will be able to handle it better with not many people liking the way they handle Ash's Pokemon capturing. With it being Max it'll mean a better reason for cameos from Oak, Brock, Misty, May and Ash which will persuade more people to watch it than watch a show with Ethan/Jimmy which not many people (mostly younger kids) might not know. It means we can still have the progressive trainer with basic mistakes but still the experience of watching Ash and May will help him meaning he'll actually have to battle for his badges instead of the ways Ash got them in Kanto.

Companion wise I think that kid with the Shinx from DP, where the Poketchs are all fakes, would make a good companion as he same age and looks to be determined and could also lead to Dawn cameos whilst they could introduce a girl as well.
