Why not an Ocean Blue, or an Electric Yellow.... I can understand red, but Green wasn't actually a beggining one was it?

So why do you think there wasn't a remake of Blue or Yellow

    According to Wikipedia:
Although the original games were released as Red and Blue in North America, the remakes retained the Japanese names of "Red" and "Green". Masuda noted this as a choice on his part, stating the leaf represented a peaceful icon, in contrast to the alternative of water which he saw as suggesting conflict with the icon of fire used by the other game.
So I suppose that's why. The article even goes on to say that they didn't intend them to be remakes of the originals. They wanted them to be considered two completely new games with new technology.

And one other thing, just to put it out there. As a kid, I remember hearing rumors about a release of a game called Pokemon Green in Japan, but I don't know if that was true or just wishful thinking.

    Yeah, exactly.

    Red and Green.
    fireRed and leafGreen

Blue, and American Red, were updates of the Japanese games.

Also, just to put out there, i have an actual Green version (In English as well)

No you don't. And if you do, it's a fake/hack. There was never an english version of pokemon green.

Just curious, have you ever seen Pokemon Green English? Let me just say that the translation is... interesting.

EDIT: Oops, going off-topic a bit. Anyways, I personally would've preferred an OceanBlue to LeafGreen, but then again like everybody else has said, Red/Green were the originals.

So, Charizard is awesome for being a mascot for more than one game?

Chances that any translated Green version that you have... it's a fake. Green version was exclusive to Japan only, so getting something else that's not in Japanese isn't official. :P

But yeah, Green and Red were the originals. I expected there to be a Yellow or Blue remake as well like how they always introduce a third game (Gold/Silver+Crystal, Ruby/Sapphire+Emerald, Diamond/Pearl+Platinum). So now I'm kinda thinking that their won't be a third game to HeartGold/SoulSilver.

Not too much room for 3rd-game remakes in my opinion. I think the point of 3rd-games is too polish up or add minor details that were missing or not the best previously. Besides, these are remakes: unless the 3rds were released with the first two, I would imagine they would do poorly in the market.

Would be cool to have Pikachu as a starter again though :)

Well yes it would seem a bit odd at first. I actually thought when Fire Red and Leaf Green came out that there was going to be an Ocean Blue, but that's not what happened of course. But I think you have a beef with the Japanese Generation. I mean that's a bit selfish of you thinking that the games belong to Americans. If they're going to make remakes of the first Pokemon games to come out in Japan, (let alone anywhere else) then don't you think that they should name them after the Originals, not the ones they sent to America? That actually seems nicer to me. It actually makes it seem like less of a remake, and more of a Tribute. Anyways I'm going to stop my rant here by saying I really like Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green and I hope to see more remakes in the future.

Red and Green were Japanes games and not the first Pokemon game.
Blue was just Red with different Pokemon.

Am glad Yellow was not remade. A great game on its own would end up worse. One annoying game for GBA. Though, with the Pikachu GBA floating around the Yellow remake could have worked. Secondary games that supplement a Generation should not have a third.

    PikaBlue

Well theres not always an explination for everything,
    Does it actually matter anyway?

Well, first off they would only ever do 2 games at a time. Secondly, yes red and green were the first games to ever be made. Green was only released in Japan while blue was released like everywhere else.

Think of the maddness: You have by now three gem games for the GBA: Ruby Sapphire, and Emerald. Next, you have the two remakes: Fire Red and Leaf Green. That's 5 GBA Games allready. Adding Ocean Blue and Electric Yellow woud make no less than 7 GBA games. It woudl start to feel a bit unnessary to me with 4 games for one generation.

Mind you, I would have grabed Electric Yellow/Ocean Blue in a heart beat...

I personally like the idea of going back to the origins. Electric Yellow and Ocean Blue are kinda.... retarded in my opinion.
