    Is Pokemon Dangerous?
Is Pokemon dangerous? Potentially, yes it is. It conditions the child who plays the game into accepting occult and evolutionary principles. Haunter can hypnotize, eat a person's dreams, and drain their energy. Abra reads minds. Kadabra emits negative energy that harms others. Gastly induces sleep. Gengar laughs at peoples' fright. Nidoran uses poison. The Psychic type of Pokemon are among the strongest in the game. Charmander, Haunter, Ivysaur, Kadabra, and many more evolve. The children are taught to use these creatures to do their will by invoking colored energy cards, fights, and commands. Much of it is reminiscent of occult and eastern mysticism.
The Bible says to "Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it" (Prov. 22:6).1 2 Chron. 33:6 says, "And he made his sons pass through the fire in the valley of Ben-hinnom; and he practiced witchcraft, used divination, practiced sorcery, and dealt with mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking Him to anger."
I do not see how allowing children to play with games that encourage fighting, reading of minds, use of poison, mimicry, taunting, teleportation, hypnosis, and evolution can be a good thing. This is not training a child to righteousness, it is accepting the occult and secular evolution. Is this what we, as Christians, want our children to meditate on? Of course not.
If children are conditioned to accept these things in youth, then they will be more likely to accept these ideas in adulthood. This leads people away from God's word and truth, not toward it. This is dangerous to a person's eternal destiny.
So, what makes Pokemon so 'evil' or 'dangerous'?
I really don't understand these people and their thoughts, because I am a Christian myself and never fully understood why Pokemon was so bad.

    So, what are your thought?

Overall, Pokemon is pretty not evil. There are evil individual pokemon (Darkrai, PMD2), but the franchise itself isn't evil.

Fear makes it evil, those who condemn it, a lot of the time, have NO CLUE what it is, and as per human nature, something they don't know about scares them. Some learn about it, and find out it isn't bad, or some decide not to and hate it, call it evil and go against it.

At least that's how I think of it through observation. I could easily be wrong, though.

sarcasm engage Japanese culture is a very dangerous thing that should never be implemented into a children's video game. It doesn't end there, Pokemon teaches disgusting morals that are bad for our children. Ash lacks a decent parental figure, consistently skips school, and never even bathes! sarcasm terminated

On a more serious note, people are just too quick to make assumptions. Many of people claiming Pokemon is evil or satanic don't even know there are Pokemon video games. Their lack of knowledge leads them to assume some crazy stuff. An animal maturing is not evolution.

Let's think positive. At least there's parents out there who actually care about what their children are taking in, right?

Why does religion have to come into play with nearly every single thing

Honestly, pokemon may seem vicious at first, you know, pachis attacking each other and all that.

are you kidding me. pokemon is game where you havelittle pets as friends and companions. Majority of kids are well aware pokemon don't exist and that we will never evolve. Yes animal fighting is bad, but pokemon arent animals

Then what are Pokemon? Pixels. The majority of them are animals, and they do eat each other, although that's never really shown it's put in several bird Pokemon dex entries, well anyway nearly every Pokemon is based on an animal.

Yeah, I never did agree with this. Being a Christian myself, I have nothing against it.

One of the key things that made people think Pokemon were evil is the fact that the majority of them were based on youkai, most commonly mistranslated as "demon". Youkai actually refers to any sort of supernatural or magical creature, which, in fact, includes angels. It's like calling a unicorn a demon...

    It's addicting nature.

Think about it, there are people who invest 100's of hours into Pokemon. Which is I why I barely play it anymore.

Also, somethings in Pokemon are questionable. Such as, God Pokemon.

    An... unicorn being evil? I could never imagine that. Even though they can poke you with their... magical horn? I dunno. XD;
I think thats a bit too far, pokemon was made for entertainment after all.

EDIT; OBEY YOUR POKEMON GOD! Kidding

Pokemon is evil, as it can mold a childs mind to be violent. It has lots of fighting and young children shouldn't see that. But the evolution thing is different, it's not like its a real animal...

Ok, really? I am a Christian myself and I totally call bs on that.

Uhhhh.... like Yeah when I was a kid I sooo thought that my animals could learn special abilites.. pokemon completley altered my mindset and rendered me a zombie!!!

Give me a break! I mean really?? What will the parasites come up with next?

Fundamentalist Christians get up in arms about it because the variety of pokemon have powers derived from the occult, which is often stated in the Bible to be a tool used by Satan to draw the ignorant from the power of God himself.

Entertainment media continues to be extremely vague in relation to this. No one really knows if one is permitted to be entranced by occult power in fiction and still be on the path of God's righteousness, biblically speaking, and is one of the many key differences in the various Christian denominations' perceptions of God.

Personally, I think it's a lot of bull. I'm a Catholic and I don't believe indulging in fiction particularly equates to selling your soul. XD

As for the evolution issue, I'll summarize it in two statements:
    - Pokemon evolution is not scientific evolution.
    - The Catholic church teaches, at least when I was in CCE, that the book of Genesis is a Hebrew myth, symbolic of man's fall from God's grace, not a literal historical story.

I guess some people need to accept that video games are not meant as a template for how we should live our lives and/or perceive reality. Sure there are arguably questionable ethics in Pokémon, but outside of Pong and Tetris you're gonna run into that in pretty much any video game. And as far as promoting evolution goes, I dare say atheistic scientists should have at least as strong of an opposition to its portrayal in the game as anyone else. Luckily, most people seem to accept that this sort of thing is fantasy and not supposed to be taken so seriously.

In my opinion, Pokemon isn't necessarily evil. But why some people think that they're evil may be because of the designs of some Pokemon, such as Gengar or Houndoom.

To begin with Christians are suppose to believe that god created them and all things on Earth. So the idea of evolution goes against those ideas. One of the most common occurrences in Pokemon is evolution. I've heard of many southern states around America where parents of children who attend public schools have petitioned against teaching evolution in school. Basically because their religion teaches otherwise. Since Pokemon is heavily centered around the idea of evolution I can see where religious groups would be up in arms over it. Even though Pokemon evolution is a bit of a far cry from the ideas of Darwin's evolutionary theory it seems to related enough to anger some people.

I know there is also the "magic side" to Pokemon which can then be thought of as some type of witch craft which can then be associated with the devil. So I'm sure that has something to do with it too. Either way things like this tend to be a problem with very devout religious sects. I think I can confidently say the majority of people who know what Pokemon is and don't play it just think it's a silly kids game and show.

The sad part of this is I could totally see people starting a "Pokemon Rights Group" Against "monster fighting" :P

But anyways I can see people of certain beliefs taking this to an extreme and calling it evil because of all the points it hits that sort of go against their specific religion. Like evolution, "magic", and mythical creatures like ghost pokemon and legendaries. But the game hasn't done any real harm. I doubt people are going to go out and tame rats then tie electrical equipment to them in hopes it'll turn into a Pikachu so they can take over the world :I
