Of all the regions available right now, which do you think had the best legendaries/mythicals? Be it design, utility, attachment you may have to them for any reason, etc. Scarlet and Violet count as well since the box legends have already been revealed (even if more legends/mythicals may be revealed later!).

In terms of sheer badassery in their main legendary trio, I'd go with either gen 3 or gen 4, closely followed by gen 5. Their main trio legendaries are all just badass to me.

Unova has a nice legendary roster, but I personally hate the genies so they pretty much just ruin it's chances for the top spot by themselves =P
Sinnoh has a strong legendary roster with nothing I really dislike, but personal preference would have me pick Hoenn, because except for Deoxys (which I consider a bit 'meh'), I love all of it's legendaries. The regi's, the Lati's, Jirachi and the main trio are all awesome. In Sinnoh there's 3 mons I consider 'meh', one of which is part of the main trio... Giratina, Darkrai, Arceus.

I also love Kalos as a region, but it does not have many legendaries. The main trio are strong contenders, and Diancie is a mon I love as well. Volcanion is 'meh' to me though and I don't like Hoopa...

Yeah I'm just gonna go with Hoenn =P

Generation IV gave us literal creator deities, you don't get much more Legendary than that. Although it also gave us Phione and Sky Form Shaymin, and poor old forgotten (but still cool) Heatran. But I don't think it gets much cooler than the Creation Trio and Arceus, honestly. Even after those abhorrent Origin Formes that they got, Dialga and Palkia are still my favourite box art Legendaries, and Giratina is my all-time favourite Legendary. Ghost/Dragon is such a cool typing, and it has such an appealing colour scheme. I also have three plushies of it. Not obsessed or anything. Nope.

That said...I actually really like the Light trio from Gen VII. Necrozma has grown a lot on me since its Ultra form was revealed in USUM, and Lunala is Noivern but superior in just about every way imaginable. Solgaleo is the White Tigerzord and it sings to me as a concept. The Tapus are pretty awful, and Type: Null and Silvally aren't Legendaries no matter what official or unofficial channels claim and nothing will change my mind, but if not for Gen IV I might be tempted to say Gen VII, and nostalgia for Gens I and II be damned. Magearna isn't a terrible concept either, and even if Marshadow is a Fighting type and Zeraora represents something I truly despise in Pokemon, of all the furry bait in the franchise, it is by far the least obnoxious, no doubt because of its higher status meaning they can't just bring it in when they're stuck for ideas like they do Lucario.

Also going to take this opportunity once again to express my general disdain for the attempt to distinguish between Legendary and Mythical Pokemon.

I'd say Kanto since it has more legendaries I like and some of the legendaries in Kanto are my favorite Pokemon. Johto comes in second.

Hard to say since I'm not a fan of legendaries in general, but...

Imo a good legendary must be actually integrated into the region's lore and the game's plot, not just some mon with strong stats GF creates, then locks behind a timed event, pre-order bonus, or gift through some random NPC and say "hey folks, this is a legendary". It's existence should add something of value to the gameplay or the story.

I guess Gen 3 handled legendaries pretty well, Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza have lore and are active part of the plot, the Regis are mysterious and interesting to search for, and Lati@s is the roaming legendary. Gen 4 also did a good job with the lake Trio, Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, but then they also thrown more legendaries than necessary.

Johto. Views theirs as consistently good in terms of design.

Identifies other regions with better individual Pokemon, such as Alola. Likes Pokemon such as Lunala, Solgaleo, and Poipole. Produced a total of 27 legendaries/mythicals/whatevers that generation, though. Sits in a sea of Ultra Beasts. Bleh.

Mentions Galar for actual combat. Never used legendaries as much as in that region. Deserves some kind of recognition for that. Excels at conquering Max Raids.

I'm partial to Sinnoh legendaries and mythicals.

My favorite of the lot is either Azelf, who is both powerful and adorable, or Giratina, perhaps the most menacing legendary out there and with a unique typing.

Then there's Darkrai, Cresselia, Shaymin, Manaphy, Arceus, and of course, Dialga and Palkia.

The only one I don't particularly like is Uxie.

Johto's are definitely amazing. <3 Ho-Oh, Celebi, the legendary beasts, and even Lugia had some of the best episodes/movie out there.

Hoenn has to be my clear winner though.. always adored the regis and their battle music, Latios and Latias are adorable, Kyogre and Groudon had awesome stories, Jirachi is very cute, etc. Honestly hadn't realized until now how much I loved the gen 3 legends/mythicals.

With no much surprise, I am going with gen 4. I mean, shall I even mention the Legendaries? They're really really cool, all of them! Secondly, each of them has an interesting lore, even the mythicals, since those could only be got by special events. I mean Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus are just amazing. Then, I know many people just think Phione and Manaphy are just forgettable, but honestly I really love them. I agree they could have been related with an evolution, but I personally just love their colors and their designs. The fact that Manaphy has a special egg makes it unique in the whole series, so it's another plus imo!

The region with the best legendary Pokémon is definitely the Unova region. Reshiram is my favorite legendary of all time because of its sheer power, beauty, and lore about how it strongly represents the truth. Zekrom is great, mainly because of it being the foil to Reshiram, menacing appearance, its sheer physical power, and how it stays true to its ideals. Kyreum is great based on how it represents being the "empty shell" of Reshiram and Zekrom because it doesn't represent any truth or ideals, but instead just wants to be whole again. The fact that you can fuse the already powerful Reshiram or Zekrom with it and make it even stronger than it already is, which is very strong, makes it even better. In addition, the "Forces of Nature" are great for being mainstays in the competitive scene, and the Swords of Justice have great lore as well, where they basically race throughout the region and act as superheroes for other Pokémon, which is lit. As for mythical Pokémon, generation IV introduced the best ones there. Darkrai was a monster before Game Freak nerfed him for having the overpowered move, Dark Void, a move that put all Pokémon on the opposing side of the field to sleep with 80% (or 85%, I don't really remember too well) accuracy. In addition, opponents would also lose health because of his ability Bad Dreams, which made Darkrai the Freddy Kreuger of Pokémon. Shaymin's Sky Forme is also a monster competitively as well. Of course, how can you forget the almighty deity Arceus, the strongest Pokémon in the game, even more so than Crowned Zacian because of its stats, ability, and multiple ways to play it.

Johto and Sinnoh are the regions with the best designed legendaries and mythicals in my own opinion. Unova has some good legendaries and mythicals too.

Hi there! What did you like the best about the Unova legendaries and mythicals?

When it comes to design and lore, I really like Johto. I think Lugia and Ho-Oh have both cool design that's still pretty down to earth. Hoenn's legendaries are also great, probably my 2nd favourite set.

I don't really like Sinnoh's legendaries. There are way too many of them and while they usually have great lore, I'm not fan of their design. But Sinnoh's designs overall are my least favourite.
