[Discussion] Which early-gen Pokemon should get later-gen abilities, stat boosts, moves, or type changes, and why?

You know how Power Creep has left many old Pokemon in the dust? Let's fix that by giving some great abilities/sets of abilities/stats/movepools to old Pokemon.

My suggestion: Farfetch'd, the Flying/Fighting type with Super Luck or Sniper.

Why? He will often hold a Stick/Leek to gain +2 Crit Rating. If he gains the move Focus Energy, that's another +2 Crit Rating and any Crit Rating above 2 means 100% of the attacks this Farfetch'd performs will be guaranteed criticals. So he could swap out his Stick/Leek for a Choice Band and one use of Focus Energy.

Giving him the ability Super Luck adds another +1 Crit chance, which means holding the Stick/Leek or using Focus Energy once gives him 100% critical hit chance. Alternatively, he could use the ability Sniper to multiply the power of his criticals by 3.

Changing his stats to make him a glass-cannon physical attacker gives him a unique niche as the Critical Hits Guy. It's balanced because Eviolite/Choice-banded Super Luck Farfetch'd will need to use Focus Energy once to reach 100% crits. Compare that to Stick/Leek and Super Luck Farfetch'd, who gets 100% crits without needing any setup. Compare that to Focus Energy-using, Stick-holding Farfetch'd with Sniper.

    Anyway, what's your suggestion?

Hello, I've been editing PBS files to buff weaker Pokemon akin to Drayano60's rom-hacks (Blaze Black/Volt White, SacredGold/StormSilver, Renegade Platinum) for my fangames.

For Farfech'd, I added +50 speed (I normally try to avoid speed tier buffs, or any stat buffs over +20, but Farfetch'd is so weak it needs it), Fighting/Flying, Super Luck, and made Sacred Sword its strongest fighting-type move (more lore-friendly than close combat). I also added Brave Bird into its movepool.

Seel/Dewgong: Slush Rush ability, +25 Special Attack, Freeze-Dry in its level up movepool

    Krabby/Kingler: Tough Claws ability

    Butterfree: Bug/Psychic

Pikachu/Raichu (Kanto): Galvanize ability, Extremespeed, Ice Punch
    - Raichu Kanto form only: +15 Atk, -15 Special Attack (Alolan Raichu gets the opposite boost & keeps Surge Surfer)

Rapidash: Fire/Fairy, Pixilate & Reckless abilities (goes well with Flare Blitz), Play Rough, Jump Kick (for Reckless)

    Electabuzz/Electivire: Electric/Fighting, Close Combat

I gave the Eeveelutions the ability to set Terrain/Weather (Jolteon = Electric terrain, Vaporeon = Drizzle, etc... Umbreon got Dark Aura since Dark doesn't have weather/terrain)

Sunflora: Grass/Fire, +40 Speed (it needed it)

    Absol (& its Mega): Dark/Fairy

    and many more

A 95BP Special move, and 95BP Physical move, for every type. Basically a Surf clone, but one for every type! Just adding one of these moves to the movepool of every Pokemon of their type helps balance immensely.

    Armaldo and Drapion:
Tough Claws would be a good start for both of them.
Min-maxing wouldn't be bad at all, for instance take away 30 SpA from Armaldo and put it into its Speed. That way, it can abuse Swift Swim much better.
While I'm at it, make Masquerain Water/Bug and give it Drizzle (because of its name) so that Armaldo and co. can make good use of it in a bug team.

As for Drapion, you could create a new poison or dark priority move that hits twice and always crits, which would combine well with Sniper. So, it could be the new Scizor, but just for Dark or Poison.

    Magmortar and Electivire:
Magmortar isn't bad at all, but it's out-classed by many fire Pokémon. What you could do is to give it Tinted Lens, therefore turning it into a threatening wallbreaker. Pokémon like Toxapex would not want to switch into Choice Spec Fire Blast.
Electivire and, generally, physically inclined Electric Pokémon would benefit from Volt Tackle! Moreover, make it so that Electric Terrain or an item like Electirizer would activate Motor Drive. Electirizer could also boost Electric moves and double Electivire's defense (when Electric Terrain is active). Close Combat would be also a welcome addition.

    Typhlosion
Its movepool leans more toward physical moves. So, maybe, if it uses certain contact moves like Flare Blitz or Double Edge, its fur would cause an explosion and deal additional 25% to the opposing Pokémon. Typhlosion probably still wouldn't OHKO many Pkm, but it would put them into 2HKO range. Then, there's still the chance to give it a mega evolution where you would increase its attack just like how they did with Charizard X.

    Spiritomb
Something that I would like to give is an ability that applies a Torment effect on the opposing Pokémon if it attacks Spiritomb. So long as the Pokémon is under the Torment effect, Spiritomb will always do 1/8 HP to the victim each turn. This could make Spiritomb hella annoying especially if you use Protect and potentially stop Choice Item user.
