What's your name again?

How's your memory? Are you good at remembering things, forgetful or does it depend on what it is, might not remember the dream you had last night, but can remember your phone number from 10 years ago?

I basically have a sharp memory for things like the names of people or places, the times being scheduled, what happened in that chapter of a book. Distant childhood memories can sometimes get foggy, which is normal, with the span of time being so long ago and the young brain still developing. Also if I have a large number of things to do I will probably opt to list them to make sure nothing slips my mind, but overall my memory is pretty reliable. Yours?

I have an excellent long term memory and an abhorrent short term memory.

I forget names and blur faces very quickly.

Remembers stuff pretty well. Recalls things from books, games, and television shows long ago decently. Falters mainly on names and faces.

Tends to remember text much better than spoken things. Suspects it to be more of a social issue than anything. Concentrates heavily on the conversation and social cues. Leaves little mental capacity for memory. Credits notetaking to be part of the driving force behind better text-based memory too. Zones out easier when just listening.

I have a horribly short term memory, usually I forget where I put something the moment it leaves my hand, names are a big problem for me... I tend to ask the persons name a dozen times before I can remember it, and I can't remember faces at all... If I talk to a person in a day, the next day I can't remember the facial features clearly. But then, I tend to remember useless things from a decade ago, or some random fact that I read or heard somewhere when I was 12 🤷🏻

My memory is... sporadic I guess? It really sort of depends on certain things. I do have a very bad short term memory, which is due to my autism/ADHD tbh. It really sucks because as soon as I remember something, I forget it almost instantly. :(

Mine used to be great. But in the last year or so it feels like it's getting close to full storage. I keep forgetting things that I feel I shouldn't have forgotten, things that I'm confident I would have remembered a few years ago.
I have to write things down a lot more, especially at work.
And learning things is much, much harder than it used to be. I need to go over and look at the same thing many many times over until I can remember how it works now. I'm hoping it's just tiredness and winter but I'm also a tiny bit concerned that it might be something more nefarious.
Maybe it's always been like this though and now I'm just more aware of it!

My memory is mostly decent but I'm horrible with names in particular for whatever reason.

I still remember most of the roads around my hometown despite not living there in over 25 years. Better than some family who still live in the general area, lol

I'm kinda all over the place tbh. Due to my job I know every street name and address in all the towns around here. The names of the residents on the other hand I don't bother with unless I actually have contact with them every now and then.

I'll take forever to memorize someone's name if I don't interact with them much. If I see them regularly it'll go considerably faster.
Kinda both a gift and a curse, but once I do know the name to go with a face, it's pretty much stuck in memory unless I fall out of contact with that person for a really long time (as in, multiple years).

And then there's remembering what I had for breakfast today or dinner last night and I basically already don't remember lol
If I don't deem it important it's going straight in the memory trash can lol

I'm known for having a really good memory. To the point where people are shocked if I don't remember something.

But it has to be something that I'm good at remembering. For instance, it only takes me three times to traverse someplace before it's printed like a map in my mind. So I can memorize the layout of a store, or the route to get somewhere far away, or even a walking path. But because of how my memory works, I can't ever give directions because I just see where I'm going.

I'm also good at remembering a lot of things if they're written down. Especially if I write it. There are times when I need a little reminder to jog the memory out, but it comes right back.

If I'm in somewhat constant contact with someone, I can remember their name. But faces, names, and voices tend to be what I'm "blind" to, so it all just goes out of the mind.

I have long term memory surprisingly, though If I'm anxious, I would have short term memory about what I'm supposed to remember. If I have to remember something to recite about it in front of someone, I absolutely forget everything I suddenly was supposed to remember.

When it comes to theories, I somehow managed to remember some infos to add. Dunno how, I just do, but obviously I still write the infos just incase. Japanese, Korean, Chinese character names are absolutely hard for me to remember 😭 I think I only remembered like two fictional character with Chinese names that aren't even my favourite characters LMAOO

I remember things really well if there was something that stood out that left a large impression on my memory.
Other than that, I'm rocking that long covid brain fog Miss 'Rona left me back in 2020. Woohoo! 🥴

I think I have a pretty good memory! My fiance likes to say I have a "supercomputer" of a brain because I can remember most things at the slightest detail.

My memory isn't great and it's a pretty common occurrence that I'll be surprised by something, and then my bf will mention that he either said that exact thing recently and I forgot it, or that it was something that was discussed beforehand and it didn't stick in my memory. In one ear and out the other sometimes. It also really doesn't help that it can be tough for me to focus and follow along with a conversation if it's happening, especially if it's something I know I have to remember. Often I find myself asking for clarification and repeating what my bf said back to him so I can make sure I properly understand.
I think I'm great at remembering little details someone says, especially if they mention they like something, or that it's something they engage with. Like if someone tells me what their favourite animal is, I'll remember that because I'll want to talk about it with them if I see something about the animal. The favourite things of people I like are something I really try and commit to memory so that I'll always be considerate and know what to talk about when talking to someone, especially a friend I've only recently met. This is something I'm especially good at when speaking to someone online or through text (which let's face it is 90% of my interactions with people anyways)
If I remember something long-term, it's usually just the broad strokes, and I forget the finer details. I think I'm a very detail-oriented person, so that can also cause me trouble.
