lets talk about Pokémon that have unusual things in unusual places on their body and discuss why they are there in the first place, if someone can't think of a reason why something is on a Pokémon they state, someone else may answer, although you can give your reasons to your own too.

so what Pokémon have unusual things on their bodies and why are they there?

    I'll start...

What's with the fur down by Reshiram's crotch area and why does a Reshiram need fur sticking out there?

Why does Sylveon have streamers and how do they connect to their body? they look suspended a little. probably Fairy Type related in some way

(the first one needs an answer and I gave my thought on the second one)

oh lord now that you mention it
Perhaps they originally made Reshiram a male and thought they needed some fur there to cover up stuff that wouldn't be rated +7 otherwise.

    ...
No seriously it's most likely just fur; they have a tendency to give pokémon weird fur growths these days. Thinking of Pangoro's weird fur coat for example :x

I think Crustle's huge, square shaped cliff it wears is just... I get the idea about the pokémon, and for Dwebble it worked well. It's cute! We even got to see it without its stone shell in the anime. But why would it look like that on Crustle? I think its stone is pretty weird.

Snails and other shelled creatures can switch shells. Have you seen Turbo?

I've been thinking about the you-know-what on the you-know-where on Reshiram and honestly, there seems to be no reason why they would have done that. They must not have thought of the underlying oddities (like they did with that Barboach and Shroomish thing in RSE) of doing such a thing. Switching perspectives, it's a good way to show that Reshiram has fur. It matches his sleek design and I'm sure I never noticed it the first time I saw it.

Going to another Pokémon, do you guys feel that this guy needs such a sober expression?

Not just the pose, the way he is built is reaaaly creepy. Your thoughts on 'im?

Jirachi is one that I always find to be really weird and that is because of the placing of certain things on it's body that I find really unusual. For example it has these etchings under it's eyes that look like tears and an eye on it's stomach area. I fond both of these to be really oddly placed and they lower my opinion on what could be a cool pokemon severely.

    Spoiler:

Vaporeon's ruffed neck always baffled me, as does the removal of its leg fins from Yellow onward.

They're either tentacle-like structures or held in place through some sort of Fairy power (read: magic). If I remember rightly from PokeDex entries, they're receptors for the emotions of others, so that's their purpose, probably similar to Espeon's fur.

I would suppose that it cuts a cube out of rock or clay, but it has no clear means of doing so.
