what's up with XY season 2?

i'm new here so i'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but i've recently just started on season 2 of the XY anime, and episode 3 (i think?) shows ash and froakie training for the battle against grant at the cyllage city gym, which would be fine except they've already had that battle?? at first i thought it was just a mistake on netflix's part, but i'm not sure because the episode still has season 2's opening theme, but it seems to me like this episode should definitely been during season 1, it doesn't make any sense, unless i'm just missing something totally obvious...

As Sotomura mentioned, the episode with Skrelp and Dragalge was initially postponed due to the sinking of a ferry in South Korea before the episode's scheduled airdate and I guess the anime staff didn't want to remind people of a terrible event so soon after it happened, so the episode got delayed and the Gym battle against Grant aired in its place, before eventually airing at a later date but causing confusion since the episode was supposed to take place before the Cyllage Gym battle.

The episode was meant to be part of the dubbed Season 17 (Pokemon The Series XY) but the delay made it air as the third episode of Season 18 (Pokemon The Series XY: Kalos Quest). As a result, the narrator in the dub instead acknowledges the episode took place in the past.
