I couldn't find a thread don here for this so I thought I'd make one. While playing through Omega Ruby, I went through around 35 ultra balls on a paralyzed and, most of the time, sleeping Suicune before I caught it. That was by the the hardest and must frustrating capture I've ever had.

Whats was the hardest/most frustrating capture, legendary or not, that you've ever gone through?

I'd probably say a Cryogonal in Black. Despite clearly being in a cave, it took me 8 Dusk Balls to catch the darn thing, and that was after using False Swipe to get it as low as possible. Remember that Dusk Balls are one of the most effective Poke Balls for catching stuff in a cave, so that's something.

The hardest Pokemon for me to catch was Beldum on Pokemon Pearl. It was at Level 53, and Beldum has a very similar catch rate to Legendaries (a catch rate of 3). I threw over 50 Ultra Balls at one before and failed to cath it. However, I did try again later and managed to catch one with a single Quick Ball...

Another hard Pokemon to catch was Heatran, also on Pearl. Even with Dusk Balls, Heatran was a hard Pokemon to catch, and it doesn't help either when Heatran can do a lot of damage to your Pokemon whilst you are attempting to catch it.

This pretty much explains why I don't like catching Beldum in the wild. Thankfully Metang can potentially appear in Poke Pelago and have a chance to want to join you. That was how I was able to get a Metagross in Moon, by just getting a Metang from Poke Pelago because it was much easier than trying to catch a Beldum in the wild.

It's a good thing that in several Pokemon games, you don't need to catch a Beldum in order to get one. In Heart Gold and Soul Silver you can get one by trading with Steven at Silph Co, and in ORAS you can get one from Steven's house in Mossdeep City.

I remember one time in Gold/Silver I was trying to catch Ho-oh and it just really did not want to go into the balls, to the point where it died from Struggle before I could catch it. Twice.

That was the first one I could think of anyway.

For me it's Uxie for some reason. In my last Diamond playthrough, it took 78 Ultra Ball, while Asleep and with 1HP left :|
