What moves do you want to return in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

Of course, considering that a good amount of Pokémon didn't make it to Pokémon Sword and Shield, an even larger amount of moves didn't make it to Pokémon Sword and Shield either. Personally, I'm hoping that moves such as Pursuit, Return, Hidden Power, Frustration, and so on make a return to the series. (Return making a return, how ironic. Lol) Pursuit is a staple move that should have never been removed to be honest. It's great for killing those Psychics and Ghosts that switch out and definitely would have checked broken Pokémon like Calyrex even further along with Sucker Punch. Of course, Return is great STAB for physical Normal-type attackers. Frustration is great STAB for Normal-type physical attackers as well such as legendaries/mythicals like Arceus, Type: Null and Silvally, Regigigas, and Meloetta. If I'm not mistaken, and I could be wrong about this (if so, correct me), but I believe that legendary and mythical Pokémon typically start out with a base total of 0 friendship. If so, then it's a good idea to give the Normal-type physical attackers Frustration rather than Return if you don't want to waste time attempting to build their friendship and just get right into battling. Hidden Power is definitely a move I hope returns, as I feel it would pair perfectly with the Tera Types and give Pokémon extra coverage.

    What about you?

Oh, by the way, if you weren't sure what moves were omitted, here is a list of every omitted move down below. Just click the spoiler button to drop the list down.

    Spoiler:

I find it bizarre Return and Frustration were omitted given they doubled down on the principles behind them with the whole Affection thing (which I believe is from XY?) - thankfully optionally in SwSh.

Bide was a great way - certainly I found in Emerald - to get a new player to be aware there are tactics other than "mash your strongest attacks". Losing Faeint Attack seemed harsh on Dark-types when Shock Wave and Aerial Ace are still around, H(ea)rt Stamp should be in the game as Woobat is - but changed to Special to better suit it's used - and I enjoy the randomness of Psywave and Magnitude, although if they're limiting things I can at least understand they're obvious ones to cut.

Hidden Power shouldn't have gone either - it fits the message the games' dialogue spreads that your Pokémon are special, individual creatures (nvm PLA in particular is like "but it's a numbers game really"). Also Unown are neat, I don't care what anybody says.

Please just bring back Hidden Power.

But, I really wish all moves that were cut in SW/SH would just be brought back. I found it really dumb moves were cut in the first place.

I strongly agree with this. I don't believe that anything should have been cut really, but I do miss a ton of moves that were gone.

I feel a bit more for the competitive side of Pokémon when I say that I'm glad that they functionally removed moves like Scald, and Hidden Power feels like a can of worms. However, I want Hidden Power to return anyway.

BUT NOT in its iconic state where special attackers just get free coverage: I want it to be Unown's signature move, just like it was in PLA, where it's always super effective. Not only does this remove the frustrating RNG factor of Hidden Power imo (whose type you can't change btw), but it gives people an actual reason to use Unown in their playthroughs. I've disliked Unown because it's essentially a collectible with the same properties as a Pokémon but none of what makes a Pokémon actually worth using, but PLA's approach to Hidden Power (and for that matter Unown) has made me appreciate it a lot more.

Alternatively you can double down and make it so that Hidden Power's category relies on which Pokémon's attacking stat is higher, but Tera Blast already exists, and I much prefer the inclusion of Tera Blast over what people know Hidden Power for.

Bring back Pursuit too. I have NO idea why they removed that move, especially considering how many Ghost-types have run rampant on singles in both SwSh and SV.

I liked the idea of Hidden Power, but since I was breeding Pokémon all of the time, it sucked that the high IVs always tended to be Dragon or Dark and not the Fire that is more highly sought after for certain Pokémon. Terastalize is pretty much Hidden Power now, and that's better since you can spend the shards to get the type you want. Tera Blast is basically the new Hidden Power move, and probably more balanced.

Good point about breeding and IVs. Getting the right Hidden Power type that you wanted in the past was always pure misery. However, note that Terastalizing is just a temporary gimmick, meaning it likely won't stick around for the next generation. With that being said, I believe that Hidden Power should return in the future games with some tweaks, such as being able to make it special or physical in some way just like Tera Blast, and at least give you the ability to determine whatever type you want the move to be without relating it to IVs.
