Okay, I hope this is where I would put this.
We've seen Ash journey through four major regions, a series of islands, and now he's off through a fifth region, and he's caught around 50 pokemon, all which have appeared in battle at least once. I know so many friends of mine who condemn Ash because he always lets good pokemon go or goes to train with pokemon they don't like and stuff.
Now, I got this idea, which came to me from the Baseball All-Star Team of the century which included many baseball superstars from the past century. And so I decided to ask you this.
In your mind, what is Ash Ketchum's All-Star lineup?
Okay there are a few rules I want to put out.
1. He has to have legitimately owned whatever pokemon you put down for at least two episodes. By legitimately, I mean caught it, or it was traded to him. So yes, he did own a Raticate and Beedrill at one time, but I don't consider them really to be a part of his team since Raticate was like immediately traded back, and he gave Beedrill away.
2. You can only choose six. Maximum anyone can have in a party.
3. Try to support your choices. Give maybe a brief explanation as to why you chose the particular pokemon.
4. You may choose any pokemon from generation 1-5. I'd prefer if you chose from 5 ONLY if you know what the pokemon is capable of and what it has done for Ash and his friends.
5. Try to remember that this is all opinion based. Feel free to question other's decisions, but let's not create an all out brawl here.
Okay, I think that about covers it, I'll go ahead and give you my choices for Ash's all-star lineup.
1. Pikachu
I really wish I didn't have to put this on the list, if not for the ever growing list of cool stuff this guy has done for Ash and company. I will say, that I believe Nintendo gives too much praise to Pikachu as a mascot, and that in the anime, this pikachu must be on steroids or something if it's pulling off weird moves and techniques like Thunder Armor (A move I still say makes no sense and never should have been introduced), but aside from all of that, sometimes it's satisfying to see Pikachu zap the living crap out of Team Rocket and win multiple battles for Ash.
2. Charizard
It took Ash a long time, but Ash can finally control this powerhouse. Which is a really good thing for Ash, and I don't see why Ash won't pull him from that training thing now. I mean yeah he can call on it whenever he wants or Charizard will just drop from the sky randomly sometimes, but there's no more reason for Charizard to remain in training if you ask me. It's already managed to fight off an Articuno, and Gary's Blastoise. If that doesn't drill into Ash's mind, 'Hey, I'm ready to go with you again.' I don't know what will. Patience I guess.
3. Pidgeot
An episode I have yet to see is an episode in which the writers are debating which pokemon to bring back for an episode or two, and one jumps up in joy and says, 'Hey, what about his Pidgeot?!' I believe Pidgeot is/was Ash's best flying pokemon, with Staraptor following at a close second. And it really frustrated me when Ash released him. It was understandable why, but it was like Jesse and James releasing Arbok and Weezing. It just wasn't meant to be. Yet it is.
4. Bayleef

As far as loyalty and overexcitement is concerned, Bayleef may just be that one pokemon that Ash can count on to be there no matter what (I mean if Pikachu is sleeping, captured, or taking a vacation). I loved seeing how Bayleef behaved as a Chikorita and how full of energy it was. Yet underneath that little ball of energy, was a pokemon that really cared for Ash, and evolved just to save him. Sure that's not the first time we've seen a pokemon evolve to save a life, but Chikorita's evolution satisfied me and made me happy.
5. Buizel
There is a reason Buizel is my favorite pokemon now. Ash's Buizel is one of a kind. The day it debuted in the series, I was hoping Ash would catch it, and yes, I expressed slight disappointment that Dawn caught it. But you can imagine how joyed I was when it was traded to Ash. I have never seen fighting spirit quite like Buizel, and in my opinion, it is the most disciplined pokemon Ash has ever owned. It pushes harder to toughen itself up, it never accepts defeat, and let's face it, it knows how to battle.
6. Infernape
One of the most interesting pokemon Ash has had, was Chimchar. Though I will say, it bares some similar stories to Ash's first fire pokemon, Charmander. Abandoned by it's trainer for being too weak, and it gets trained and becomes an arsenal of power for Ash. Though Chimchar never lost loyalty and never put Ash to the test as far as experience in battle was concerned. I will say Infernape may not be as cool as Charizard and stuff, but it's story and it's dedication to make itself stronger payed off in the long run.
Okay there's my dream team for Ash. Anyone else want to pitch in their lineups?
