What Happened to Team Rocket?

    Last I saw of them in Sinnoh Leage Victors they were opperating a successful bussiness at the Stadium. Now in Best Wishes they are completely serious - and shockingly capable - villians.

    Were their characters rebooted? Is there an explination for this in Sinnoh League that I missed?

    I'm not complaining, they are actualy acting like true villians instead of clowns. But what happened to my clowns?

    Excuse me for going off-topic, but does anyone know if Team Rocket has even met Dento Cilan yet?
     
    I'm guessing he retrained them and showed them just how important this mission in isshu was and that they were not to mess up. That probably caused them to become the greatest villains ever! The writers could have also been tired of using them as comic relief. With little bits of screen time they get now we may never know to be honest.
     
    It's possible that Jessie, James and Meowth may have realized that their methods of stealing Pokemon have failed time and time again, so they re-committed themselves to do more "serious business" and focus on what is important for their organization.
     
    I think it is a nice change for them. Their old ways were one of the things I did not like about them by the latter seasons. So this change should be some good development for their characters.
     
    I agree a lot!

    Now them being comical villains was good for a while, but seriously, it was starting to get old.
    Now Team Rocket actually has intelligence and not just retarded daydreams about getting rich or pleasing their boss.
    But I do hope they encounter our heroes again soon. Their first battle was thrilling!
     
    Since they don't interfere anymore, each BW episode seems to be paced much smoothly too.
    Another advantage of making them serious villains imo.

    Well, Cilan saw Team Rocket at the Demolished Dream Site in Episode 6. So, yeah, I guess they have.
     
    Of course I loved the old Team Rocket. But honestly - they were starting to get very old and boring, and I think the writers noticed that.

    Anyway, I think making them more serious was a good idea. I'm really interested to see what Team Rockets plans are. (I've spectulated in other threads about Genosect)

    I do, I bet sooner or later in the season A lot of episode will revolve around them but just to say i personally love this new Rocket... I wish i could say the same thing bout Satoshi but....
     
    I do have the same thoughts as PlatinumDude, they're trying to succeed somehow.
     
    I was getting a little tired to see Team Rocket losing everytime.
    They seem more serious, and it makes the anime more interesting. Team Rocket isn't the Team Clown anymore, uuuh, thanks God.

    They were still funny though.
    I think I'll like the new Team Rocket.
     
    With the latest episode preview that's floating around, they have larger concerns, as the Mod said.

    I'm sure they'll meet with Ash, again, but has his attitude toward them changed, as well? Not like the old Johto days, where he openly called them "losers."
     
    I haven't seen any BW episodes yet but from the replies I have read, I quite like the new Team Rocket. I am quite surprised that this didn't happen sooner though. They finally decided to be disinterested in Pikachu and focus on true Rocket missions instead of going after one single pokemon all the team and Meowth's silly fantasies.
     
    I'm definitely surprised about the sudden contrast between their old attitudes and their new ones, but I think it's an excellent change. They've really recommitted themselves to actually being good. It's very satisfying to see them not be the comic relief anymore.

    With any luck, this trend will continue. I don't want it to go away anytime soon.
     
    THEY WERE REPLACED WITH ANDROIDS!

    I don't know what happened to them. We may get an explanation somewhere near the end of the series. I hope they do another episode like they did Dawn and Brock and explain it all.
