    Quite simple, really...
Why are you paired? What does it mean to you?
    Looking for a friend? A boyfriend/girlfriend?
Are you one of those people who get REALLY obsessive over your forum love?
    Spill your guts!

To be honest, i don't actually know what the literal meaning of pairing is.
    Is it a group pair?
    Is it a Club Pair?
    is it a Battle Pair?
    or

Is it something that invovles "love"-If it is, i am already taken.

Here, a pair is defined (in my perspective) as two people who are connected to each other in a way that is a little more strong that "friends". There are some who take the little system seriously, some who are just paired for the image. Some paired people don't even really stay in contact with each other, and are merely pairs in name. It doesn't necessarily mean love- it just means that two people are connected. However, I do know two people who are madly in love with each other and paired xD.

To me, Inugami-kun, my pair, is just a good person to talk to; someone I have much in common with. I'm not seeking out love from being paired with him, or anything like that.

Oh, oh, a pair can also be a buddy who you suicide pact with... Like in Paranoia Agent.

If being paired meant about love, I'd probably be arrested for being paired with a minor a one point but other then that, I guess it just means two good friends shouting out their friendship

Wise words here, this is the reason why I'm currently paired myself. For as long as I've been on PC, pairing has always been treated as an exaggeration for a lovey-dovey image, or just image alone. It didn't really matter to me until later on; that for me, pairing is simply connecting two people who share a special sort of "bond" with each other that is something slightly or even stronger than just friendship alone, or even just a strong friendship. Whether it be an actual romantic relationship or mutual trust and comfortability, I see pairing as a symbol of either one of these things. The reason I'm paired at the moment is because I share something with him, something that is a lot stronger than just casual intimacy.

Pairing to me is sharing a close knit bond with someone. My pair Cooks isn't around much, but when I get to talk to her, I feel happier. It's not romantic in either way as I'm gay and Cooks is... Cooks. I used to think of pairing as a waste of time, but I view it as a way to display a special bond with someone.

Well, the people in my PC family are just good forum friends of mine with whom I decided on more-or-less weird titles with as a way to commemorate that bond. I've never actually had a pair here, per-say, but if I were to get one it would be for pretty much the same reasons as people get added to the family, just...well, a stronger feeling of 'connection', for lack of a better word. I'm not really looking for true love here; just someone who brightens up my forum existence.

Ah, dang it. Voltaire and Signomi already put it way more beautifully than I ever would, so I'll just settle for saying 'what they said' and leave it at that. xD

wow, thats a very good explanation. I never understood what a pairing is, but this sounds logic and great. thanks :)

Dude... i have no pair... *sob*
LOL!! I prefer being single!

Anyways, a pair to me is where this guy and this girl is like together for some uknown reason... There you go!!

Ps: I dont really get yer other questions...

Completely editing my post because I just realised that I read Roy's question the wrong way. To me, pairing is taking someone out from all of your friends out of the forum and saying that he or she is the greatest of all your friends. The decision could be based on respect, love, the past or even if you like the person more than anyone else but not in an intimate manner. Of course, there will always be the sad person on the forum who gets a pair just to prove that he's not alone on message board filled with fifty thousand members. It's sort of sad but it can't really be stopped.

Just my opinion, anyways. I sort of reworded what Signomi said, now that I think of it.

I never really took pairing as something serious in the beginning. :<

Everyone thinks, "Hey, pairing is like boyfriend and girlfriend, omg<3" Some people may do that, but I don't. It's taken me a while to find out what pairing really means to me.. Right now, the person I'm paired with, is one of the most awesome people I have ever met. Someone I can relate too, someone I know that'll always be there for me, someone who'll be my friend for life, someone I really care for and I would do anything to make them happy. But, pairing to me, isn't about being in love with each other or romantically involved, pairing is more like, being with the one person who you truly trust, and both share a special bond with one another, just like what Signomi said. I don't love my pair romantically. My pair; is my best friend<3 And.... We're of the same gender. :D

Quite right, that's exactly how I think of it too :D
Like, with uncanny accuracy to how I feel o_o

Pairing is something I never really understood until recently. In the past six months I have had three different pairs. When I paired for the first time, I had a very small understanding of what it was all about. We unpaired after a few weeks because we never talked.

After pairing the second time, I learned not to take it so seriously. The third time, I paired with a good friend of mine. I learned that pairing wasn't always necessarily something to be taken as romantic, but a sign as a bond between friends. Pairs need to have good communication, which is what I learned from my first pairing. At the moment I am unpaired, but if ever I choose to get paired again, I would choose somebody who I know well and am good friends with.

My third pair was of the same gender as me as well. :D

Pairing, to me, is a sign of two friends who decide to let their friendship be known and aren't ashamed of it. It doesn't necessarily have to be a bf/gf type friendship either. It's all a matter of preference, some people can pair with any of their friends, myself, I believe that the status 'Pair' is a reserved space for someone who I am really good friends with, that I can trust, and have a fun time with even without getting anything done. I generally have an open feeling about pairing and feel that anyone can pair with anyone regardless of gender, ethnicity, or nationality. I am currently unpaired, but If I ever do find a person who fits my views on a Pair, I hope she will say yes.
