[PokeCommunity.com] What do you think of baby Pokémon?

one of these is not like the others...

What do you think of baby Pokémon - are they a good addition? Yes, no, maybe? Which is the cutest? Would you like to see more baby mons introduced? If so, what would they be pre-evolutions of?

I like them, though they mainly just sit in my boxes as I usually just get them for the Dex, unless I happen to want it's line on my team.
Cleffa or Chingling would be my favorite, can't really decide between the two.

I'd like a baby mon of Lapras =3

At least gen 8 finally introduced a new baby mon (Toxel). Before that the newest baby mon was Riolu back in gen 4... it's been a bit lol

I think some of them were good additions, like Smoochum, Elekid, Magby, Tyrogue, Mime Jr., Mantyke, Munchlax. I mean, pre-evos are a good thing for Pokémon that they obviously couldn't put too early in the game because they'd be too OP, so let's say Magmar is too strong for the early game, well, you can catch and raise a Magby instead.

Some others were unnecessary (Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Azurill). Unlike Magmar, Mr. Mime, or Hitmonlee for example, Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Clefairy and Marill do look like first stage Pokémon and do have the stats of an unevolved Pokémon so I think baby forms for them were a pointless addition.

I think they're okay. While their stats aren't the greatest, I do love my fair share of some baby Pokemon. It makes sense why some evolution lines have them? Like Pikachu having a pre evolution that's a baby makes sense. Pokemon like Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Electabuzz and Magmar, too, because they don't look like first stage Pokemon. :x

I can understand why baby Pokemon basically weren't a thing anymore after generation iv though. With the except of Toxel, of course. A lot of people say "baby Pokemon aren't needed!" I disagree. All the ones that got them, in my opinion anyway, feel more complete, especially Roselia since before Budew and Roserade it was just Roselia. Like, just imo, it never made sense that Roselia was the only one in its line when it was first introduced. u_u

I do feel like they're just a gimmick for breeding though, all things considered, especially the ones starting from Generation III onward. Almost every single one needs an incense to be able to get it through breeding. That's quite honestly annoying.

I'm fine with them, and I'm always in favor of taking a single-stage Pokemon and giving it an increased evolutionary line.

I'd like to see a baby form for Hawlucha.

Also possibly a yellow or purple baby that could evolve into either Sawk or Throh, plus a new third evo - Pyn, who would be the remaining unused color.

And a baby that could evolve into either Tauros, Miltank, or Bouffalant.

I like Riolu and that's where my opinions stop.
Baby Pokémon are almost always too weak to be good on a team. Add on swap training being too painful and the exp share being too useful at grinding up your strong mons without over leveling and it hard to justify even wanting a baby Pokémon at the point and you got a lose-lose-lose combination. Not ideal

It's kinda sad that you get it and it's level 1 but your team is like level 26, it takes so much grinding that most trainers just shut it in the pc

Probably just a marketing campaign for anime and the tcg lol in the game they're just pre evolutions to me and I can't recall games referring to them as babies either but could be wrong- like in game you can hatch a pichu and it's a baby or you can hatch a full grown Mr mime hahaha
