How often must the debate rage on? Battle speaking, water types are far better, there's not much to argue there, even hardcore fire fans. Bulky waters are on almost every team in nearly every metagame, and are really very powerful. Blaziken is too slow, charizard is very fragile, typhlosion is meh...infernape is one of the only fire pokemon we consider "standard." the rest are more toward BL or UU. There are several OU water pokemon...milotic, swampert, vaporeon, kingdra...the list goes on. Fire types are also wweak to EQ, the most common attack in the game. Don't even say charizard, since rock throw from geodude OHKOs it...and that's saying something!

As for overall coolness, that depends on personal opinion, and is pretty useless to argue. I like water types...big deal. All of the "cool" stuff is mere opinion, so yeah.

Geodude has a base Attack of 80, Charizard has a base defence and HP of 78. Take into consideration the 4x weakness, it is expected. (Even if Rock Throw is only 50 power)

Lots of n00bs would say otherwise..Bulky waters are incredibly scary. I'm a little biased because Swampert is my fav starter, but oh well.

Okay, I'll rephrase. ONIX...no, SHUCKLE OHKOs Charizard with rock slide. Exagerated, but shows how fragile it is. Didn't know geodude had that big an attack base :0

Water types definatly win when you're speaking of competitive battling for reasons stated well by the people above. In addition to all that stuff about water Pokemon being more defensive, they also hit harder. Just look at Starmie.

However, I like a lot more fire Pokemon then water Pokemon, like Charizard and Torchic.

Water is obviously dominant battlewise for the reasons previously stated

However I am, and always will be, more into fire pokemon as its kinda my favourite element on other games aswell

But.. it also depends on the fire pokemon's moveset.. Infernape can learn Grass Knot (poor example, meh) and that can beat water types, so. XP
