I kind of remember it hinting towards the Dynamax Adventure Area.
And if you didn't do that nothing else happened.

The start of Crown Tundra is basically showing off the new characters, the new features.
And THEN, you can choose which legendary things to do.

yeah, I'm talking about after the introductory max lair stuff and once the 'peony headquarters' are unlocked along with your legendary adventure choices aha. most people do calyrex first since it's easily kickstarted right in freezington, but not everyone. personally I went to catch some regis first!

I did the steeds one first, then Regis before chasing the birbs down haha.

I did some exploring and one of the Regis before going back to the Calyrex story stuff, with some dynamax adventures with friends inbetween. Only a while later did I go back to finish the regis and then actually chase the birds.

Haven't gotten much time into it but I just started exploring. I don't know, it feels like a massive Wild Area with the focus on Dynamax Raid for legendaries. Would've loved some more in-game meat to sink my teeth in.
I just can't wrap my head around that they keep adding this many legendaries.
