    what's everyones opinions on him

[PokeCommunity.com] Wes Colosseum Theory can't be proof wrong to this day

think he is evil or actually was good guy?

he is interesting character that is rarely touched on by fanbase but is so open to interpretation.
His character designer made him with the intention of appearing "hazy" (according to character designer Kazunori Orio).

    Chuggaconroys said this too:
"Originally the plot line of Pokemon XD was going to be very different
Greevil was not going to be the boss of cipher and it wasn't just gonna be that 5 years ago Wes took down the Orre branch of Cipher and Greevil was the global leader
instead it was going to be:
You would find out that Wes, was not a good guy
you would have learned that Wes did not have pure intentions when taking down Evice all those years ago
instead it was merely that he knew he was a skilled Pokemon trainer
he saw an opportunity to steal the snag machine from Team Snagem
he used that get what wanted, basically pretended to be a good guy using everyone in the Orre region to get a battle with Evice
and after Cipher lost its boss, he would become its new boss doing a better job than Evice ever could
It would be that Wes had gone mad with power and
You would be the one to have to put him in his place and he would be the main antagonist of XD"

but I have my own ideas why this is definitely true and I point out instances where game shows it was going to happen:

Refute this argument (you probably can't btw so gl):

Wes took down cipher by using everyone in the Orre region in colosseum including Rui and after having gone mad with power, was going to be main antagonist of the proceeding title PKMN XD but the plot was scrapped due to reasons of conflict with the audiences age group. Look at all the remnants of colosseum (which was scrubbed clean of any trace of Wes/Rui & the under) in XD then look at the NPCs remarks themselves. Wes is almost NEVER mentioned then very vaguely referenced read on... strangely neither is Rui who by default was always with Wes. However if Wes was scrapped then she gets it too, frankly it would be bizarre for a returning player to see Rui but no Wes?

    STRONGEST PROOF:
The Devs would have to answer the question if they included Rui: so where is he? Their response you ask? Heh, it'd go something like this:
"We had to get rid of this guy because his original concept was too grim for a kids game but we left his sidekick here."
Thats why there's no Rui either, she is too closely associated with a character the devs wanted to keep buried after the disapproval of XD's Original plot

Still not convinced? Riddle me this, why won't NPC's like Eagun even mention the guy? Sure it's nothing but an Easter egg for older players but it could entice newer players to revisit the preceding titl. Not even a cameo as a super boss?

In colosseum, Super Boss "Shady Guy Wes" was a foreshadowing to the next title, isn't it odd that this battle comes AFTER the main story (granted for gameplay but storeywide) ending where Ho-oh that is said to bless those with a pure heart comes to Wes in Realgam colosseum?

Why not a different trainer class? Besides "shady guy" especially :s
as if you're supposed to retain this suspicion of Wes even after seeing the ending with "Ho-oh".
it is as if you were supposed to fight yourself in this twisted persona and feel what it would be like to
face Wes as a villain, a glimpse into the future almost... why? It's because GeniusSonority was thinking of doing this ;)

So in all Actuallty, Ho-oh came for Rui because also in that defense of "Ho-oh going for Wes" you could say it also showed up for Evice? Nascour? Eagun? hm? Ho-oh = red herring honestly.

    Something Kinda Weird:
    - It is never actually stated on what Wes' true intentions were going to be with the snag machine when he initially stole it, remember his sinister grin? (referenced in the fanart photo in my avatar how do you insert images btw?) wicked stuff

Heh, had he not encountered Rui in her quandary by chance for the sake of the story it is unknown how things could've gone. GeniusSonority would have saved face by finally addressing this unresolved smiling moment and making Wes the antagonist, just keep reading.

    - NPCs call Wes shady: ex Cool Trainer girl in round 3 of the 3 series of matches in Phenac colosseum "How could I lose to someone so shady?"

    - From a common sense approach the plot is too dark, At that time Red for example, he was a character you were playing as and saved the Pokemon world with, then as a super boss in the next titles for a fun callback

but Wes, a character you played as (even though he was kind of suspicious and funky looking from the start) was now the villain in the next title because it turns out he was actually using everyone Rui, Eagun, Johnson, everyone and the person doing it all was you, the player? Pretty edgy, for a kids game, but this just further proves the "rumor" is true though. It seems evil and manipulative, I mean me back then as a kid, if I realized the plot of XD was Wes being the bad guy i'd probably never want to touch Colosseum again :( kids wouldn't wanna help Wes be a jerk (which was the point of the original plot for XD being scrapped! the kids!)

    - Btw "he wasn't named" is not a good refute bc pretty much, Red for example was named as a super boss since G/S/C days so "no name for character" won't work the dude is clearly named Wes

    - Where Micheal puts his snag machine down in the secret ending: he puts his down never to be used again. Originally this was to show that he is done using it and there is no chance of him ever picking it back up to continue to use it, as the shadow crisis has been ceased. Unlike Wes who in the original plot after Colosseums events would have hung on to it only to go on to use it for devious purposes in XD

    - As it is, regardless of the plot quandary, the whereabouts of Wes' snag machine are completely unknown and never addressed. Presuming he indeed has the snag machine still, why not pick it up to save Orre once again? This goes into my next point about the P*DA

but so far it seems like he got scrapped at the last minute, there are too many unresolved colosseum plot points that lead to subtle clues of him obviously having been considered in the sequel at one point, but then abruptly revoked of that position. (antagonist based on XD's HQ lab being a thing, they're creating their own snag machine to combat Wes')

    - Why didn't someone just call him on the P*DA i.e. Kids grid? Eagun?

    - Slasher smile: Greevils slasher smile, with those yellow pupils, shared exclusively with a certain someone else, just before sending out his Pokemon in the final battle is a callback to Wes's slasher smile he bears just before picking up the snag machine in colosseums intro
(Greevil entire backstory also made no sense, global leader of cipher? Then why come back to Orre? Cipher must be around then still? Evice was in charge of Orre. Greevil was "global" so what about the other regions?....Lol? Last minute villain because Wes was scrapped from original plot much?)

    - Team Snagem? No mention of him? Not even upon seeing the new snag machine, stealing it? No "hey 5 years ago this guy did..."? Its like the devs are hiding something ;). Again this is excusing the name discrepancy as this here situation could've lead to a generic remark or two about Wes but instead there is nothing from even Team Snagem of all characters.

-Rui's uncle: beginning of Colosseum first visit to Agate he warns her about Wes telling her "it pays to choose your friends carefully" (note: Various NPCs later on throughout the story mode still call Wes shady despite the endeavor of establishing your reputation as this supposed atoning good guy, that is, what the devs want you to think ;o)

    - The closest you get to a flat out Wes reference is on Mt battle. One chaser trainer on the upper levels has a team consisting of a presumed Wes team (espeon, umbreon, suicune, raikou, enter)

Why not just use him? Yup, scrapped.

Sooo yeah he got scrapped and until those points can be refuted, this is the theory to debunk the accusations of falsehood to Chuggaconroys theory thus, making it true until proven wrong which again has an essentially highly unlikely contingency.

P.S. I know I probably seem obsessed but Wes really reminds me of myself and GeniusSonority maybe saw into the future about me when they made him becos we just have similar life/style/attitude, now cya
