Strategy: Use Walrein as a tank, because of its very high HP.
Recommended Nature: Sassy (+Sp. Def, -Speed) or Relaxed (+Defense, -Speed) or Any Nature that doesn't raise or lower stats like Hardy
Hold Item: Icy Rock/Leftovers
Ability: Ice Body
When you send out Walrein, use hail. No good if you're in a double battle without any other Ice Type Pokemon
After that, you may either use Protect or Blizzard. If the Pokemon's stats are low-medium (Except Speed or Special Defense), or it's sleeping/frozen/paralyzed, or the pokemon is weak to Ice Type attacks, then use Ice Ball. Walrein will keep attacking, while the hail heals it, if Walrein has the Ice Body ability. You better make sure that Walrein has the Ice Body ability in order for it to be useful. If it doesn't, make it hold leftovers instead.
Another strategy: Do not battle Walrein against Pokemon with the Fire, Water, Ice, or Steel Type, unless their defenses are low. It will have a long time defeating it.
