Saw this article which prompted me to make the thread.

As you may or may not know, Vietnamese Crystal is an infamous unofficial/bootleg translation of Pokemon Crystal made by a Vietnamese guy from a Chinese version of the game whose English wasn't too good, resulting in the hilariously atrocious dialogue that the game is known for. You can see some of the funny stuff on this TV Tropes page here.

    Whatcha all think of it?

It is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Nothing has made me laugh more that isn't another human being. We're playing it right now and we find the fact that Bug Pokemon are referred to as "Worm Elfs" to be ridiculously funny. As well as the constantly said phrase "Request you!" And Wusiji Dr... I just love those random Chinese phrases that pop in there. They amuse me so much. Vietnamesee Crystal is a treasure trove of humor and I think everyone should experience it.

This looks hilarious! I'm thinking of changing my next monotype run to this. Would definitly make for funny updates.

I had heard things about this game a while ago, and the whole "MONSTER COACH" line because it's one of the welcome messages here, but I didn't know the dialogue in it was this intentionally stupid. And maybe i'd play it if I was able to, but with a Mac in my hands and not a PC doesn't look like that's in the cards anytime soon.

I absolutely love Pokémon Vietnamese Crystal. The horrible translation issues always make me laugh out loud, especially Silver's "Trashy Man" rant. I don't really care for the original Crystal all that much, but after checking out this jumbled mess on TV Tropes months ago, I'm starting to kind of like the original a bit. :P I haven't played Vietnamese Crystal yet, but I will when I get the chance.

I have watched a couple of game-play videos of Vietnamese Crystal before.

Like everyone else, I also found those footage to be pretty hilarious. It's tough to be running into things like this, which is something that makes the game kind of stand out in my eyes.

I've been planning to give Vietnamese Crystal a go for some time, but unfortunately, I haven't been able to get that done as of yet, as I always either wind up forgetting or keep myself occupied with some other game. Hopefully, however, I will get around to it one day!

I saw a couple of videos of people playing it a while back which was actually my first time with viet crystal. I am now in the loop.

I plan to play it at some point, though I don't know when since I was having a hard time finding it and the only place I could get it would make it too much of a hassle.

I remember seeing this years ago. I love it so goddamn much.

The main character FUCK s everything.

i actually never played the hilarious vietnam crystal. I only played patches that were full of symbols and some english xD gold roms.

I was in hands of Vietnamese Crystal when I borrow my cousin's Gameboy Color a long time ago, and it was inside of the GBC multicart that he got. I personally think it's kinda weird that it refers Pokémon as Elves, but I was fascinated when my Pokémon ate the held item called Nut to regain health in battle that I try to find another nut for it to do just that (Nut is the bootleg's equivalent of Berry in official translation, btw). Of course, I only played it for a while because it's my cousin's belonging, though.

I have DeliciousCinnamon's part one playthrough favorited on YouTube and it's absolute gold. Never actually played myself but have been tempted for a year or so now because it would be appalling of me to miss out on such hilarious dialogue.

    . . . .I AM THE TRASHY MAN.

This stuff always makes me laugh. The poor translations are so poor that they couldn't even be considered to even be translations. Just for old times sake I'll go watch someone attempt to play this on youtube now.

DeliciousCinnamon were at their best in Viet Crystal IMO. They later tried to repeat its success with other poorly translated bootlegs, but Viet Crystal is an unique gem.
