    Hey guys,

Im trying to run Visual Boy Advanced on my Mac, and no matter what game I play, I always get horrible, irritating sound distortion and skipping. No matter how much I try and fiddle with the sound settings I cant get it to stop. Has anyone else noticed this? How can I fix it?

Hi, I'm running a mac OSX 10.6.2, and VBA 1.7. I haven't experienced any sound distortion. I know it sounds an obvious question, but are you referring to game sound from the emulator? If so, what OS/version of VBA are you running, and what ROMs? Also, is it specific ROMs, or all?

Yes, it is game sound from the emulator. Im running OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) and VBA 1.7.2. It's pretty much all roms, and the pretty much all games. I discovered that the sound only distorts when its running below 97%. But, the way to keep it above that is to turn frame skip on. Thats ok when I'm playing Pokemon, but it's completely unacceptable when playing something action packed like Metal slug Advance.

uh, 1.7.2 isn't available on any mac OS. The most recent version available for mac OS is 1.7, which I currently use as my emulator of choice. Is this what you're referring to, or are you running 1.7.2 in a VM or dual boot? if so, the root of your problem could simply be non-compliance, and you'd be best to use the native mac version. I know it sounds an odd question, but if you run mac OS on a non-apple machine, you can experience some major hardware problems, and some software corruption. (and its against the Ts&Cs, but I won't say!) That's about all I can think of at the moment.

Oh, have you tried putting the sound quality down a bit? that may help. Disabling echo, reverse stereo and low pass filter may improve your experience. Hope I help =]

As you made this post, there has been 1.7.2 and 1.7.4 VBA for OSX.
