I'm trying to edit a trainer battle for a small project, but I can't find an editor that works. G3T is a .rar file, which for some reason my computer can't open, and HTE just refuses to load ROMS, so are there any alternatives?

If your ROM is a vanilla 1636, Pokemon Game Editor by Gamer2020 should be for you.
It is a very beginner friendly and all in one executable file.

So I got a program to open G3T finally, but it has the exact same issue as HTE. So the problem is my rom, which means a different editor won't help. Does anyone know a possible reason? The error message doesn't give me a clue

People cannot help you because people do not know what you have done to your ROM. Your ROM might have been corrupted, or maybe imcompatibility with your computer specification, or you use other people's ROM as base, or etc. There are too many possibilities.

    Usually, just USUALLY.
These applications cannot read a ROM when their .ini file is not compatible with your ROM.
So you have to edit its .ini first using Notepad.

Best i can advice is to start over using PGE.

Since I'm kinda dumb, would the .ini file be the file with the ROM information in the editor? The one with # of trainers and such, as well as a ROM code and name? Because otherwise, I can't find a file ending in .ini

I suppose yes, as for example : If you open Hopeless Trainer Editor, there should be BPRE.ini file
BPRE is Firered English, and if you open it with notepad.
You will see various data there, so for example you have expanded your pokemon.
Simply change the Count = ___

This also apply to any other application, you need to wed them with your ROM in order for the ROM to be readable with the applications.

Alright, so yes, this is the right file. It's missing the .ini, but it is a BPRE file. Problem is, other than the ROM name, I see nothing to change in it. I haven't changed anything that is in the file. I'm not doing a full project, just a single room added on to Fire Red, and I changed the name of the ROM.

Change the name to the original. It should make your ROM readable.

Or simply start from scrap. This time, use PGE instead.

I managed to make it work, by downloading Firered 1.0 instead of the 1.1 I was using before, as well as changing the name to match. Problem is, whenever I change anything, six things need repointing, and I don't understand it. So it essentially only works for me once. But that's less of a technical issue, and now it's become my lack of knowledge instead. So that I can work with, probably

Yeah, you should never use anything accept V 1.0, some of the data is in different places in the other versions, and that doesn't jive with certain editing tools.

Really? It was using 1.0 that saved me. 1.1 had all the problems

I guess this tool used V 1.0 for the data

I meant any version except, 1.0.
    I'm stupid.

That's what I though lol. Good to know though, since I don't usually check the version when downloading, since I usually only download to play

On the topic of not knowing how to use the tool, does anyone know any decent tutorials for G3T? Text would be better than video, because than I can skim through for whatever I need
