6th Gen Too Easy?

Do you guys think that these games are wayyyyyy to easy? I mean they practically hold your hand. I still love the remakes dont get me wrong. But they feel way less challenging than the originals..

I concur.. I thought that after XY we're finally going to get challenging games. But apperantely I was wrong.

I'd have to agree with that. The most challenging part of these games, in my opinion, would be catching Legendaries. The battles themselves aren't hard, but the notoriously low catch-rates make things a little spicy. Otherwise, the game is very watered-down.

I completely agree this was done back in 4th gen with Diamond and Pearl and since then theyve only gotten easier. GF does this so that they might market to younger kids and children and make them keeping buying their games since they can actually defeat it without a challenge. In Black and White Challenge mode made this go away and allowed GF to market to kids and teens and adults but sadly we dont see this in ORAS. XY was very easy dont get me wrong but ORAS stretched that even more there is way to many ways to level up, the pokemon in the wild are more powerful than the pokemon trainers on that route I mean I found this really upsetting ORAS was so easy it was kinda boring to play despite its cool new features.

I agree, the game is easier than it used to be in past titles in the series man I remember the difficulty in leveling up pokemon in Crystal, especially since in this remake within 1 hour of play, not even that, 20 minutes, you get the exp share which just ruins the whole, 'hard work' aspect of the game I feel, still I enjoy it cos ya know its pokemon :P

I usually leave the Exp. Share off during my initial playthrough, so that makes it a bit more challenging. But yea, 6th generation in general is very easy compared to past generations, primarily due to the watered down level curves and the new exp. gain formula. I did think OR/AS was an improvement over X/Y though, because the Hoenn Elite Four was a lot more challenging than the Kalos one. We also got the rematches, which introduced a nice post-game challenge.

So imo, OR/AS was easier than RSE, but more challenging than X/Y.

Idk, the second time around versus the elite 4 its a bit harder if you dont train more after the delta episode.

I mostly left my Exp. Share on, but it's because I like to mostly run through the story quickly. I never really found the game hard, but it's mainly my experience that boils down to it.

Idk about that since most games these days are easy and I mean that as in games for all ratings. It makes sense in a way. With making a game easy people finish it faster over spending time with a single game letting them go and buy more games. Which would help companies that put out many games in a single year like Ubi and Square or even Nintendo.

I think Pokemon B/W and B2/W2 gave the perfect amount of difficulty - I found X/Y and ORAS so easy, I'm pretty sure I only had to try the Elite 4 once in comparison to Ruby and Sapphire when I had to grind my Pokemon's levels upwards over 4 or 5 tries.

Are you forgetting pokemon is manly games for kids, which means if its way too hard its not fun for them. And if you want a bit more challenge then modify the pokemon, trainers pokemon etc. or download neo x/y which makes the game harder ;)

Sure, yeah. But when I was a kid I got along just fine with red, blue, gold etc. that didnt have such hand holding properties. They give you OP pokemon so early on, they heal you almost all the time after major battles.. idk. I get it but they should also keep in mind that the original fans are still playing these games.. especially ORAS which were essentially fan service.

I agree that they were way too easy. I played it blind with no evolving and no Exp. Share, and I hardly ran into any trouble until Victory Road (where there seemed to be a difficulty spike which probably doesn't really cause any issues for people playing through the game normally). Partway through the game, I even decided to solo the gym leaders as an extra challenge to myself (it wasn't hard). I get that some people like it easy, but I think they could've added Challenge Mode (as an option from the beginning, not unlocked after beating the game) to help satisfy a wider audience. This Challenge Mode could've been more analogous to the difficulty in Emerald compared to Ruby/Sapphire.

I was a kid when I first played the originals and 2nd gen and I managed to beat them so that's really an invalid reason to have the difficulty low. I mean, usually my team is a little lower than the elite four since I'm too impatient to grind them.. I ended up with Pokemon in the high 50's and low 60's and one was a level 50 Gardevoir that I started training right before the 8th gym leader from a level 4 Ralts. The elite four was no challenge at all. They practically didn't even damage me at all.. I for the most part just swept them no problem. Waaaay too easy.

peope are just making the games easy by themselfs the games are not easier they are all the same things i always tell new players to do when they dont want to steem roll everything is:

use full team of 6
dont use exp share
NEVER grind against wild pokes- here is the bigest thing many people do and then complain its to easy I did all these steps and even used exp share and had a decent challange when being under leveld against E4

I forgot to stock up on items before facing the E4, I still beat them in 1 shot.

Agreed - I breezed through X & Alpha Sapphire. I mean it was really cool seeing Hoenn in a 3D world, but at the end of the day Nintendo have still failed to include a difficulty setting consistently. In BW2 it was included only after beating the game. I'd like to be able to set my difficulty at the start of a save file and just leave it at that. I can understand the issues with implementing that though - people could mistakenly choose a setting too difficult for themselves and be stuck with it. If you change your difficulty during a save, maybe there's an issue with data corruption/bugs that could arise from switching around the PKMN available in areas as well as constantly changing up all the trainers. It's an issue that I think Game Freak have always been thinking about, but haven't found a way to implement it without causing problems in-game.
