Seeing that the pokémon world has both the famous fruit and the berry in it, what would you think would be the difference between the two?

Would ketchup made from tomatos taste different from ketchup made from tamato berries, or would they taste the same? I also wonder if they use tamato berries in their burgers...

Tamato berries are extremely spicy, so I've heard.

(Fun fact! Tomatoes are technically berries too! Just very big berries. [/nerdy biology facts])

Yeah, I'd think they'd taste different from each other, but probably not by a lot. Like Gymnotide said, tamato berries are spicy, so it might make spicy ketchup.

... Come to think of it, do we really know for sure that there are tomatoes in the Pokémon world? I remember seeing ketchup, but not tomatoes; maybe all ketchup in the Pokémon world is made from tamato berries.

Maybe they have regular tomatoes? =3 Seeing as how last time we saw ketchup, berries weren't even made.

Lolz, this is ironic, I just ate a tomato. XD

We saw Ketchup in the anime before berries were ever introduced so I think real fruit are in the Pokemon world too. We have seen watermelon so why not tomatoes?

    No, those were Watmel Berries.
It was the episode where the Electrodes were used to defend the Watmel patch.

Yeah, there are probably tomatoes in the Pokemon World as well. Though they might use Tamato berries? :\
I guess only the creators would know. :\

I think making Tamato ketchup would be some what similar to hot sause.

P.S. We've seen apples (numerous times), peaches, ketchup and watermeleons (they weren't watmels they were watermeleons, they said they were numerous times in the show).

Sure, we saw ketchup before berries had been introduced in the games, so in our outside-the-Pokémon-world perception of Pokémon existence, ketchup "existed" before berries did. But INSIDE the Pokémon world, even though WE hadn't seen berries yet, surely berries had been growing on trees all over the Pokémon world long before anyone said, "Hey, I need something red and liquidy to put on my fries. Maybe I should make a new condiment." Saying that something didn't exist within the fictional context of the Pokémon world until it showed up in the games is like saying Arceus (who has been around since the beginning of the universe) didn't come into existence within the Pokémon world until ten years after Rattata had come into existence. Berries and Arceus didn't exist to us, and they didn't even exist to the creators of the games yet; but it'd be silly to say that to the actual characters, Rattata and ketchup were in existence years before Arceus and berries.

That's not to say that their ketchup really is made out of tamato berries. But since the actual existence of tomatoes hasn't been proven, there's no reason continuity can't be retconned into saying that the ketchup we saw so early on really was made from tamato berries.

Well if the ketchup was made from tamato berries then that would mean Pikachu is ether Adamant, Brave, Lonely or Naughty.
Also, if it was made from tamatos then when scyther's and electabuzz's eyes got hit with it, they're eyes should have burned.

First off, if you live in the U.S., the tomato is both a vegetable and a fruit. Yes yes, it is a fruit because of the fact that is has fleshy material cover seed(s). However, according to a U.S. Supreme Court decision, the tomato is a vegetable.

Also, as Gymnotide said, when checked, the tag of the tamato berry say it is very spicy, so I'd imagine that to two different forms of ketchup would taste very different.

The spicy flavor probably derives from salsa and pico de gallo. The tamato berry also is said to be lip-bindingly spicy, according to the berry tag, so it most likely isn't gonna be in burgers. xD

Why don't I break off on a tangent and say it they make ketchup out of Razz Berries?

Why would any one want to put raspberry paste on their hamburger?

    Why not? xD

Anyways, I think that both tomatoes and tamato berries exist, just the berries are useful in making poffins/pokéblocks, while the other isn't (or could be just used for ketchup).
Or perhaps the two are completely distinctive to people in the Pokémon world - like blackberries and blueberries just sound really similar.
Or an silly oversight by the developers, why did't they just name the fruit after actual human fruit an claim it has a different effect on Pokémon?

Mmm... A Miltank Burger with some cheese and Tamato ketchup...

    Offtopic: 'Useless' Tomato Facts:
    Spoiler:

    Regualr cheese or Miltank cheese?

    Tamato- A spicey berry...
Tomato- The food we all know and love...
    Therefor they are different!

"What You Seed is What You Get"

I thought that was a watermelon xD *They DID say watermelon in the anime&*

    The seed-spitting animation was ghey.

Anyway, long story short: Tamato Berries do not make ketchup. Now shut up, and wait for a mod to close this stupid thread.
