Didn't know where else to post this, hope it's in the right place. Regardless, here's the news:

Tom Clancy, bestselling author of the Jack Ryan series of novels, which include The Hunt for Red October and Clear and Present Danger, has died. Clancy passed away October 1 in a Baltimore, Maryland hospital at the age of 66. The cause of death was not immediately available, and only reported as a "long illness."

Clancy's publisher, Penguin Group, confirmed the author's passing, with executive David Shanks releasing this statement:
"I'm deeply saddened by Tom's passing. He was a consummate author, creating the modern-day thriller, and was one of the most visionary storytellers of our time. I will miss him dearly and he will be missed by tens of millions of readers worldwide."

    R.I.P. Tom Clancy

For a second I couldn't remember who he was, I recognized his name but it was just blank and then it hit me, Splinter Cell! But yeah it's pretty sad, R.I.P Tom Clancy.

He had a very good publication history as well. It's sad to see a talented person die at quite a young age. R.I.P

He brought us Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars. He was a great man.

    R.I.P

Yes both in video games and in books he was well known for, I heard the news when I woke up and turned my television on. He will not be forgotten.

I hope people remember him for being a great author and not just Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon video games. They got his permission to use his name on the games, but he didn't actually help with the making of all of them. He has written a lot of books and I can't think of any that weren't good. He will be missed. R.I.P. Mr. Clancy.

    Oh, koff~

I think I just lost another piece. . . I will really miss Tom's writing, as The Hunt for Red October was a favorite. His writing will be missed; but I won't miss his politics, koffi~

OMG he died on my birthday!

But yeah, I remember seeing his name because I've heard of the Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell games.

    R.I.P. Mr Clancy.

Oh wow. Not to sound ignorant or anything, but I kind of forget who he was and so when I saw people on Facebook say "R.I.P Tom Clancy" Tuesday I thought they were talking about the end of the Splinter Cell series. Now I feel bad and stupid. :/ That's honestly really tragic. I never played any of the games or read any of the books he wrote , but I knew how of an impact they've made on society today and how much of a legacy he has. R.I.P. Mr. Clancy.
