I had my fingers crossed for a Poison Dragon, and now I have one. However... Anyone feel like hes worth a slot on a a team comp? To me he just looks frail and kinda slow.

For one it kinda bugs me that people don't know how to pronounce his name lmao. for reference you're supposed to emphasize the "alge" as "algae" because he is a seaweed pokemon. Kelp is a type of algae, hence "Skrelp" into "Dragalge" /rantover

competitive-wise, I'm not too sure. I feel like he'll be outclassed by an oddball set of Goodra running Sludge Bomb to deal with fairies. I'm sure you can find some niche for him seeing as how both his defenses are pretty solid. If I could guess, a potential set for him would follow. He seems to play very similar to Tentacruel.

    Dragalge @ Black Sludge
    Poison Point
    Calm Nature
    252 HP/150 Def/60 SpDef/44 SpAtk

    Dragon Pulse
    Sludge Bomb
    Scald
    Toxic

He doesn't pack the speed for flat out offensive, but by manipulating its defenses, you're gonna be in the clear to whittle your opponent's team as long as they don't get STAB moves off on you.

I'm bothered by its low speed, but I love its design and typing. I didn't expect it at all. Skrelp was one of the reasons I was more interested in getting Y over X, it just ended up being even more of an enjoyable surprise.

I'm definitely not going to use one in my play throughs.

    -Doesn't evolve until lvl 48

-Extremely slow at 44 base speed

-Low 65 base health that not even a base 90 defense and 123 s.defense makes up for while also not having an attacking that that is noteworthy.

It looks awesome and has an interesting/unique typing but it's stat distribution is very disappointing imo. It doesn't seem to get any moves in the form of recovery or stat boosting either.

I'm undecided on if I will use it by the time I get up to being able to catch it. It does have an interesting typing though, and lack of speed is not terribly important in the in-game part.

I suppose that speed stat makes it viable for trick room teams too.

It's easy for me to put weak Pokémons to a bigger advantage with a few nasty skill tricks here and there. Definitely is he going to be on my time when my Y version comes long next week.

I like him a lot. He was on my main team for the storyline.

He can be physically frail but he soaks up special attacks nicely.

I actually love my Dragalge! It has a good Sp Att and Sp. Def, so even when I encounter weaknesses its still able to withstand for a while. I also use it with Black Sludge, so it's a good combination. The only real problem I have is its weakness to Ground, since it doesn't have the Levitate ability.

I like Dragalge. I had mine set for a physical attacker since his ability was Poison Touch. He was great for destroying fairy types, who seem to be more of special attackers, and having camouflage is nice outside of competitive (inside he'd be a normal) to match with the Pokemon of that environment. I had spent a large portion before going to the power plant GTS trading for one and training it. He was in fact a useful member in my conquest to take over the Pokemon league.

I really like Dragalge and its Typing, however I find it to be quite frail and slow. However it make up for it against Fairies! Overall I can't see him being a great high tier pokemon. Unless the rumours are true and he has the hidden ability Adaptability, then , my mind would change

I love Dragalge's design, and she's been a huge help on my team! I've raised her since she was level 1. She's using Dragon Pulse, Surf, Sludge Bomb, and Thunderbolt. She owned the Psychic gym and could tank Psychic attacks. Though, I guess that would make her level 48+ compared to trainers' levels 40-48, but even as a Skrelp, she could hold her own against Pokemon far beyond her level. I don't recall a time where her low Speed was ever an issue in-game; random EV distribution must have helped.
