These doughnuts are great! Jelly filled are my favorite!

Does it really matter? They mention it for 5 seconds and its over. That's it. It's not that big of a damn deal.

When they switched it to a sandwich though, that was all-time stupid.

Yeah, I'd say it looks more acceptable as a doughnut than a sandwich. But meh, Westernization is a very stupid thing when it comes to Pokemon.

I agree with Vernikova...

They kind of jump between calling them riceballs and donuts though, at least I know I've heard them call them riceballs in the anime, too. Sandwhiches, riceballs, donuts. People are gonna get confused.

Jelly Donut or Sandwich... either way it's kinda... fail. XD And don't forget the gram cracker too. XD that was epically horrible. XD

I just wish they didn't do that in the first place. i mean WHAT THE **** IS ******* WRONG WITH RICEBALLS?!!?!?!?!?!!? LOL
sorry for the "censored" stuff (lol) but seriously, riceballs are food too you know. poor tohru-chan. (furuba ref!)

The best one is when Brock calls it an onion in the episode Misty leaves. The rice ball/onion made him cry.

at least they didn't try to do what they did in Sailor Moon - "Hey, want a muffin?!" while waving a riceball in the air ):

Omigawd, strange azn donuts of doom!
That has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever been witness to.

I wonder how that convo went at 4kids.
Supervisor: AND NO JAPANESE REFERENCES, WE NEED TO WESTERNMAIZATION IT FOR DE KIDDIES!!
Dubber 1: *Watches the episode* What are we going to do about the rice?
Dubber 2: Call 'em cheeseburgers.
Dubber 3: I say we make them into hotdogs.
Dubber 4: *Brings in a box of Dunkin' Donuts, and drops a powdered donut on the floor, smashing it.* Oops.
Dubber 2: Why don't we call them donuts?

I agree, Americans kind of suck, makes me embarresed to be American, ehh, I guess I have my Italian blood to fall back on.

If you're embarrassed to be an American, then America is embarrassed to have you.

As for the clip, its just short and silly. As you learn in business, things are always being changed for different cultures, different demographics, and different purposes. From what I'm guessing, 4Kids was relying on the basis that they thought kids probably wouldn't know any better, but obviously they were wrong. And then again, this is just one of many things that 4Kids has done utterly wrong.

Yes, I hate this too. You see, what their doing by doing this is actually PREVENTING kids from learning about Japanese culture. It's stupid. It really is. Yes, let's not teach our kids about cultures of the world and how people in different countries eat stuff that's different. That'll teach them alot about UNITY. I bet the only reason those 4kids executives changed it was because they were SO afraid that if the kid looked up anything about Japan they might find something "scary" about the wars that happened there or Hiroshima. Yes, because Japan has such a worse history than America, which has gone through over 6 wars, 3 reccesions, and was founded by people who were breaking the law. Yeah, people talk all the time about how we should be kind to others and how we shouldn't be racist and blah, blah, blah: But those idiots are making it hard for us to move on and accept everybody as equal. We are the same with our differences don't you see? The Riceball is the equivelant of the donut in Japan, and because of this we are the same. But by making that dubbing idiocy those people are making them look more different then if they just said Riceball. Those idiots are the reason for "Hate Crimes". Yes we'll teach people a good lesson that if you hurt somebody it better be a person of the same race. I think that 4kids should stop this stupidity once and for all.

We shouldn't be embracing what makes us tear apart. We should be instead focusing on the differences that make us whole. If I may quote an anonymous phrase: "You are unique, just like everyone else".

*Glory Halleluja starts playing in the background*

So if you want to take away my self-censorship FINE.
If you want to take away my Humanity then FINE.
BUT TAKE AWAY MY RICEBALLS AND YOU'VE GONE TOO FAR!!

GIVE ME RICE OR GIVE ME DEATH!!

With all regards,

y does america have to go & make things more "american"? ignorance is the reason we have so many racists in the first place. i remember seeing this episode as a child and thinking "thats no donut..." they made me believe that crap! i feel betrayed that 4kids would deny me some cultural exposure just to make it "easier" to go along with, which it didnt.

There was this one episode where they called them 'popcorn balls' too...
