I decided to analyze the theme of each game and these are just my theories. Red Blue Green Yellow- How humans effect nature. (Look at the creation of Mewtwo)
Gold Silver Crystal- Friendship. (I believe Gold and Silver end up developing a friendship.) Also theirs that old saying: "make new friends but keep the old one is silver and the other gold."
Ruby Sapphire and Emerald- How humans and nature coexist.
Firered and Leafgreen- same as the original.
Diamond and Pearl- How mythology effects the way people live. (Like the statues of plakina and dialga and people's references to them.)
Heartgold and Soulsilver- Same as original.
Black and White and Black 2 and White 2- Industry vs Nature (Black city and White forest.) Also the way N thinks. He thinks so black and white.
X and Y- Life and death. (Xerneas and Yveltal..
So what do guys think? Any other theories?

I've never thought of the games like that, but when you think about it a bit...they work really well, especially the Gen 5 related one. I see technology also being a theme for Gen 5, though that fits under industry. X/Y could have prosperity and destruction, though that's not really a "theme" imo. Still, this is pretty insightful and I thank you for bringing it up x)

HeartGold and SoulSilver definitely signify friendship; they have Pokémon following where you travel, which promotes that quite well. As for others, I could agree with those, haha. Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum does have another theme, though: religion. In Hearthome, there's a church (if I remember correctly), which sorts of sends us the message. Alongside, there's also some people that treat certain Pokémon as if it's god, which would be Arceus.

I like it, but my theory goes more like this:

    Kanto: Technology
    Johto: Culture
    Hoenn: Nature
    Sinnoh: Myths

I agree with you on the industry vs nature thing in Unova, and I don't know Kalos's storyline very well, so I can't label a theme to it.

I've pondered this myself, and I got some interesting theoriess by looking such things up on Bulbapedia. XD

    Gen I:
    Spoiler:

    Gen II:

    Gen III:
    Spoiler:

    Gen IV:
    Spoiler:

    Gen V:
    Spoiler:

There's no theory on Bulbapedia about Gen VI yet, but there is definitely a prevailing theme of beauty in XY what with being based on France and Sycamore being the most handsome professor in the series' history and Lysnadre's twisted ideas of beauty.

Sun and Moon could be about relationships between pokemon and trainers. We see all different types of relationships, and in the anime, Ash never forcibly catches a pokemon. They all choose to join his team and often enter the pokeball of their own accord. I'm curious to see if Galagar's diverse terrain will be involved in the games theme. If it is, it could be along the lines of international unity.

For my thoughts, I use "adventure" with a specific attribuite.

    1. For Hoenn theme will be "wild adventure" since for me is ispired to Australia. Confirmed with the similar shape to the country and that's surronded by water.

    2. For Sinnoh, I guess I say "joyful adventure" with my rival.

    3. As Johto, I define "a great adventure" Since the player will travel both Kanto and Johto.
