Here is where you can discuss mistaken identity and idolization of Team Rocket's Meowth in "The Purr-fect Hero."

    My review to come forthwith.

(And the right airdate anniversary, 9/11/99, so everything is where it should be.

Also, I won't be online much of today, so posting it mega-early.)

Oh yeah. This is that episode where Meowth was idolized and stuff. Yeah. Char-char, next time you should put the Japanese title along with the English title in those opening posts. It'll make it easier to remember these episodes.

I had thought about that, but people didn't want to confuse the issue, as "what are you discussing, the dub or sub?" But I may do that, in the future. Depending on the episode title.

The magic act was amusing, particularly James' reaction to Weezing as a volleyball. Made of win, there.

Char-Char? That's it, I'm changing my name to "Killer Moth." Heh.

Meowth used to be my favourite character, so I used to love this episode ~ but from what I remember, a lot of people hated it o.O I don't remember much about it except the wild Meowth managed to break a huge boulder in half. Wow. o.O

You know, I think this is one of the few episodes where Ash, Misty and Brock were tricked by Meowth without looking like complete idiots. I mean, Meowth didn't speak the human dialect at all, and the only thing that might give Meowth away is his standing on two feet, which even then, seeing how the Meowth in this episode is the first time that the twerps actually encountered a Meowth other than Team Rocket's Meowth, that didn't matter much, anyways.

Of course, when Meowth basically blew his cover by saying "That's right", Misty was the first to catch on. Sometimes I get the feeling that Misty's the only one to actually see through Team Rocket's disguises most of the time (Ash doesn't seem to see through them for the most part, and Brock seemed to see through disguises only if Nurse Joy/Jenny was involved. Even then, he was fooled by Cassidy when she disguised herself as Nurse Joy, and it was even implied in Fire and Ice [the first time he "saw through" a Nurse Joy disguise] that he didn't actually see through it and only said that "his radar never failed" to save face.).

Sometimes I kinda wish that Sugimori did not change his Meowth Artwork to match that of Team Rocket's Meowth, since it was explained that his standing on two paws instead of the usual four was a result of wanting to become more human and was NOT normal Meowth Behavior.

I just watched this episode a few minutes ago. It was cute, I loved how the little kid idolized Meowth, even if it was the wrong one for half the episode. In the end I do think Jessie and James need Meowth more than they think. ;)

And James' cross-dressing... is always quite... amusing.

You make a good observation, especially as the series will make it a moot point. I think it may be more intellectual laziness, as it's easier to process all Meowth in one mode only (two legs), rather than make one unique and the rest with four paws. That ,and variants weren't called for in the old days.

Either way, I miss the debate (two legs vs four), as presented in the episode, compared to these days, when they've stopped trying.
