    The PokéNav Plus

    [PokeCommunity.com] The Pok?Nav Plus

In ORAS, we get this nifty little gadget called the PokéNav Plus. It sits at DS's bottom screen, and has 4 different functions:

    • The AreaNav has the town map and helps us find secret bases, berry trees, and trainer rematches.
    • The BuzzNav gives us a news/activity feed on what's going on around Hoenn and even gives commentary on the main character's journey.
    • The DexNav helps us spot out certain wild Pokemon in the area and keeps track of which Pokemon in the area we've encountered so far.
    • The PlayNav holds the PSS, Pokemon Amie, and Super Training (everything introduced by X&Y's C Gear)
So! How did you like the PokéNav? Did you find it useful throughout your journey? Was there a function in particular that was your favorite? Which one did you tend to have open most often?

Having the map on bottom screen is cool, DexNav is the one I keep on the most though.
BuzzNav I never use, PlayNav I never use much either.

I like it very much. It's very useful when I need it for something. The AreaNav I use it sometimes. The BuzzNav I never used it. I mostly use the PlayNav for PSS, Pokémon Amie and Super Training. My favorite feature would be Pokémon Amie because you can feed your Pokémon, pet it and do other things with it.

Dexnav was a treat. Especially with the callback to RSE's graphics.
I didn't use Buzznav much. The news snippets always seem really...shallow, I guess.
Playnav, not much except when I was bored with the game itself, I'd try playing with my Pokemon.
Areanav would have been better if we could move the map without opening it! I thought that was the point. Regardless, it was nice to pull the map up really quickly.

I'm hoping the feature returns in the future, especially the Dexnav.

I think I used all features except the BuzzNav, but then as far as the PlayNav is concerned I really only used Pokemon Amie. DexNav was definitely the best of the features since it revolutionized what you encounter in the wild thanks to the hidden abilities and egg moves you can get.

I like to keep an eye and track rematchable trainers in NavDex it also let me fly on-the-go instantly which is far handy and quicker way to fly without going to pokemon menu and with pokemon that knows fly which ALL PAST GEN and XY didn't have route-flying (because XY and past gens just let you fly on location with Pokemon Center and cities)

The DexNav is also my favourite tool to locate pokemon with HA and egg moves also potential value of the pokemon, it really help me to look for an Evee so I can get my favorite eveelotuion.

I do rarely use PlayNav though just for amie and GTSing

The PokéNav Plus includes undeniably some of the greatest features ever introduced to the series, especially odd for a remake.

I didn't really use much or care about the BuzzNav. The PlayNav, of course, was the stuff introduced in X and Y, which are all great features, in my opinion. I absolutely love the DexNav and AreaNav, though- both are much-welcomed features to these games. The DexNav for always having a go-to region map, and knowing where your exact location is at any time without having to occasionally stop what you're doing, open the map, close the map, continue on with whatever you're doing, etc.

As for the DexNav, not only do we get to easily see which Pokémon are available in the area as we acquire more of them, you also get to choose which wild Pokémon you'll encounter (when you've already acquired it by then, of course). And not only that, but you can even see things like the abilities, levels, and moves of the Pokémon before you even encounter it. It's like a love letter to the competitive community, or people who just want to raise Pokémon their own preferred way. In addition with the ability to walk very slowly to either sneak up to Pokémon, or avoid wild encounters entirely. As Hikamaru said, I would not describe the DexNav and sneaking features with any less-fitting word than revolutionary. It's made finding and selective-catching Pokémon a whole lot easier and better, and sneaking is a nice go-to method for avoiding wild encounters if you're out of repels or just don't feel the need to use one. Both these features and AreaNav- I sincerely hope that they are standard for Pokémon games for every new game forward. I like the Roller Skates in XY, but I'd rather them be optional Key Items so we'd be able to approach DexNav Pokémon.

The Playnav is what it was in X and Y. I use all three features with Pokemon Amie being my most used feature of the 3 available.

The Buzznav I barely used. Having the Name Rater question your nicknames was strange as was having the news reporting how many Pokeballs I have been buying over and over.

The Dexnav is an excellent feature. Whilst I am not a competitive player the ability to find Pokemon with a certain Egg Move or ability is very welcome. It is also a great way to find Shiny Pokémon. :)

The AreaNav, I used it for Trainer's Eyes, Berry growing and flying too.
The DexNav is amazing, I found all possible hidden ability Pokemons but I skipped Delibird. Now I can design a good team with Level 100 hidden abilities.
The PlayNav has got wireless communications and Super-Trainings, I can affect my Pokemons with Pokemon-Amie.
The BuzzNav, I only use it for Mirage Spots but I finished it and mainly secret bases.

it also let me fly on-the-go instantly which is far handy and quicker way to fly without going to pokemon menu and with pokemon that knows fly which ALL PAST GEN and XY didn't have route-flying (because XY and past gens just let you fly on location with Pokemon Center and cities)
I forgot about this! This was one of my favorite things as well! Definitely something I hope becomes a permanent feature. It kinda makes sense since the other HMs (minus Flash) can be activated by interacting with something on the overworld. Fly is used for travel while the others for obstacle navigation so it's a little different, but more convenient to be able to activate it from virtually anywhere.

    For myself:
Sort of depends on what I'm doing.

    • The AreaNav: I rarely used.
    • The BuzzNav: I don't think I ever liked or paid attention too, never liked or even used at all.
    • The DexNav: I mainly used when I'm searching for Pokemon, I use quite a lot.
    • The PlayNav: It's the one I mainly have on all the time, especially when my 3DS XL is connected online. Anyone who wants to challenge me to battles I can easily battle. With Amie being my most favorite feature ever introduced.

I'm just past the 3rd gym and at this point in time, all I've been using is the DexNav, to try and capture every Pokemon in each area :). However, I can definitely see myself using the PlayNav when I start doing more things online especially post-game, and maybe also the AreaNav once I become able to create a secret base. I'm not too sure whether or not I'd really ever use the BuzzNav, though :c.

I liked the PokéNav a lot. I've tried out all the features from time to time, but I'd have to say the one I have open most often is the DexNav. It's always nice being able to see which Pokemon you've caught in the area. I've also used the PlayNav quite a bit, because of course, Pokemon Amie, PSS, and Super Training :) I haven't used the BuzzNav that much, but I have given it a try, and it's pretty cool, though a bit weird having everything I do reported o.o

The AreaNav is, imo, one of the best features in the game! It makes it so easy to find the things you're looking for, like berries, trainer rematches, and secret bases :)

I think it's very helpful. My favorite thing about it is the Pokémon Amie. Being able to do things and interact with them. I really love it and glad it's there.

The only downside with the DexNav is that you have to catch the Pokemon before you're able to manually search for them, but as we know you need Pokedex registration for a lot of things anyway.

I like the PokeNav Plus! The AreaNav was my favorite function. I love how the bottom screen displays what the area you're in looked like back on the GBA. So cool!

Besides when I needed to use it for in-game reasons, I rarely ever used the thing. Outside of the main game I only really used the Playnav often for PSS and for super training my Pokemon. I've never been a huge fans of the Pokenavs even thouh I do think that they're a cool invention.

I both adore and detest it myself..
Adoration is easy, I love the sneaking, I love seeing the special different moves and also hunting for genders "I like pairs of pokemon".

Detest...that it shows an incomplete area, I can't LEAVE an area until I have me all.

My Hubby commented last night "I never really understood the slogan "Gotta catch em all before", thought it was marketing hype...but now...now I understand it!"

1.20am in the morning, on a school night....can't sleep cos you have to get that last one left :/
