    Convert the letters of your full irl name into numbers (a=1, b=2, etc.). For each individual name, add those numbers together.

    Example: John Jacob Schmidt = 10+15+8+14 | 10+1+3+15+2 | 19+3+8+13+9+4+20 = 47 | 31 | 76

    Then, add the digits of each converted name together.

    Example: 4+7 | 3+1 | 7+6 = 11 | 4 | 13

    Repeat the last step until your total number of digits equals a Pokémon's National Pokédex number.

    Example: 1+1 | 4 | 1+3 = 2 | 4 | 4 = 244 (Entei)

    If you don't have a middle name, you can leave it out or use a 0. If you have two middle names and your result is higher than any Pokémon's National Pokédex number, add both middle names together. Don't include Jr., III, etc. Special character values based on their base letter.

    It's a lot lower of a number just doing it by my username but... getting Kingler is kinda funny to me? This was fun!

    You would normally use your whole name, which would give most people three digits (no need to share the name, just the number). The attachment in the first post should make it a little clearer.

    I get Glaceon doing it this way! If I cheat and use the Coastal Kalos Dex. Otherwise, it's Doduo.

    alas i have lazyitis I don't feel like doing my last name
     
    This is derived from the practice of gematria, btw (more specifically, gematria ketana), just using the English alphabet instead of Hebrew. There are other ways to apply gematria though, so feel free to check out gematria calculators for other variations of your name/username.
